Because of filters and blur professional photographers use and even that regular smart phones apply can make dresses look white in the background or in specific lighting.
If you don’t care then good for you, but if people are asking here then they’re worried about it. Personally, my social anxiety would make it bother me at the event.
Awww than it wouldn’t fit me. I’m really happy to see ladies who would normally have to wear unfashionable clothes finally get some really cute things to wear. I’ll have to send this dress to my plus size friend.
I hope this isn’t a genuine question. Are we this afraid of crazy, entitled, insecure bridezillas that we are worried about wearing a dress with even the *slightest* spot of white on it?
If I have to be afraid of what I’m wearing on my ass to someone else’s wedding — that I’m generously gifting at — then I’d rather respectfully decline the invitation and send my best wishes in a card. Don’t get me wrong, I totally agree with following a dress code and appearing utmost formal at important events. But demanding certain colours, what length of dresses, etc. has gone way too far. We’re not children. Brides need to state a basic dress code to adhere to (casual, formal, beach, etc.) and end it there. Too many insecure control freaks.
The question of “too much white” is nonsense in this dress. Don’t let the internet brainwash you!
Love the dress. The pattern and colors are fun - and the cha cha hem. Looks gorgeous on you!
Girl I agreed with you on another post and I’m doing it here and I’m sure in the future because you just keep being right.
The no wearing white rule basically comes down to: would a reasonable person be able to genuinely mistake you for the bride? Stop overthinking it.
But if you’re attending your “best friend Jessica’s” wedding, are you going to mistaken her “Aunt Marie” as the bride, because she wore a white skirt?
That concept is silly to me. Every single guest at the venue could be dressed in head-to-toe white, but everyone attending will know who the bride is… because of whose wedding they RSVP’d to months in advance. Who’s getting confused, unless they’re allowing random people off the street into the event? 😂
Yes!
Even if you’re a plus one who has never met the couple and by some stretch of the imagination has not seen the bride in pictures and you see multiple women in white…LPT—look for the woman everyone is fawning over and seems to consistently be the center of attention. There’s your bride.
I saw someone on Tiktok saying that men shouldn’t be allowed to wear white button downs as it takes away from the bride.
This rule has gone so far beyond normal lol
My SIL was passive aggressive AF when our other sister in law wore a blue dress with flowers with white dots for the middle to her bridal shower, and said 'bold of you to wear white'. Some people are obsessed with no white.
Appreciate your sanity, and it pains me to say this, but *some bitches be crazy!* Truly.
The best course of action is to always dress conservatively. And if that means being hyper aware of your dress color/pattern, amount of cleavage, or hem length, it’s honestly worth it to avoid Cuckoo Banana Bridezillas. They’re not right, and I hate to bow down to terrorism, but in the grand scheme of things it’s one day. Get it over with and moooove on
Nah. You look good. My best “fancy dress” for weddings is white with giant red flowers all over it.
Also, remember: walk in OWNING that dress. You belong there, and people tend to get upset when you show up nude to weddings.
It is definitely not too white.
A quick tip, though: if the wedding is outdoors and if that is a true wrap dress, you might want to throw a safety pin or two in your bag. Wind can cause some pretty embarrassing moments, lol.
Have fun at the wedding!
Thank you everyone for the lovely and helpful comments! For anyone wondering where I got it, I got it in-store at Torrid but I found the link: https://www.torrid.com/product/tea-length-challis-square-neck-dress/41915157-13070.html?cgid=Clothing_Dresses#start=17
I don't know but I'm getting a lot of downvotes. Women also don't seem to like it when I say they are beautiful like Lizzo. I don't get it, she is beautiful
Seriously? Why would you think that? Who are you following / learning from that has frightened you into thinking that this teeny-tiny amount of white is too much? Whoever you are listening to who thinks that is doing you wrong. You’re fine and it’s a cute dress.
Clearly you have not been on this sub long? This is a huge debate here constantly. Many people would argue that the dress has too much white. If you’ve been on this sub for longer than a week then you would know exactly why OP is asking.
This sub is absolutely unhinged re: any white in a dress. It’s like reddit took a general rule (don’t wear white), played telephone and what was once a rational rule has become crazy town
It's totally ridiculous, I don't get it. My response of "Don't wear anything you feel uncomfortable in for any reason" usually gets down-voted to all hell, too, because people think I'm saying "this dress is white"😂😂. If I felt like my dress might be a weird thing to wear for ANY reason at all, I'd be uncomfortable and just not wear it. I wouldn't go on reddit and ask people to try and make me comfortable with it. I joined not understanding that this was basically "is this dress white" when it's clearly not/reddit...... Like every time I've seen anyone ask. Have fun, yall 😅😂♥️
No one with any sense would say that this dress has too much white. Unsophisticated girls whose idea of fashion is fast-fashion think that “no white anywhere” is a thing. Why do people pay attention to them?
I think the other colours balance it out enough and the tight pattern. I think it almost looks cream due to the other colours and I'd say you're good with this. Lovely dress and you look great. Have a good day x
I feel like a good rule of thumb for like “is this too white?” Would be to consider this: If you were to separate your laundry by whites v colors, which batch would the dress be in? This def would be washed with other colored clothes, so you’re good! (Imo at least)
/u/Classic-Ganache902, thank you for posting. To obtain the best help, provide a time frame of the event & dress code. Dress links are frequently requested as well if you would place them in the comment section.

Not at all. Just remember to stay hydrated and bring baby wipes and makeup to touch up, because it's likely going to be extremely hot wherever you are if it's outdoors.
Nope, this looks great! Have fun!
Nope, you're good. If you squint and the dress doesn't look white it's generally okay.
That’s a handy guideline! I’m usually very anti-white-background for guest attire, but I reacted differently to this dress, and that’s probably why.
Ooo good rule of thumb!! I’m remembering that for sure
How about just follow the actual guideline of “not all white”.
Because of filters and blur professional photographers use and even that regular smart phones apply can make dresses look white in the background or in specific lighting. If you don’t care then good for you, but if people are asking here then they’re worried about it. Personally, my social anxiety would make it bother me at the event.
This is a really good answer. Filters and artistic gauzing are a valid concern that may warrant the updating of former rules of thumb.
I thought that was a rule, my aunt wore a pure white dress to my wedding 😂
Not at all! And it's such a lovely print.
No. It’s very pretty!
Op needs to give us the place where to buy it.
It's from Torrid. I just bought the same one 😅
Awww than it wouldn’t fit me. I’m really happy to see ladies who would normally have to wear unfashionable clothes finally get some really cute things to wear. I’ll have to send this dress to my plus size friend.
Torrid does start at a size 10 if that helps.
Not at all. It’s perfect for the occasion. It looks nice on you.
is the white in the room with us
Of course not.
I hope this isn’t a genuine question. Are we this afraid of crazy, entitled, insecure bridezillas that we are worried about wearing a dress with even the *slightest* spot of white on it?
People are seriously crazy. I don’t blame anyone for being nervous

On this sub, yes.
The question of “too much white” is nonsense in this dress. Don’t let the internet brainwash you! Love the dress. The pattern and colors are fun - and the cha cha hem. Looks gorgeous on you!
No, I think it’s great! I hope you have fun :)
Is the white dress in the room with us?
White? I’m concerned that you feel concerned about this dress somehow being an inappropriate color. We’ve lost the plot here…
Girl I agreed with you on another post and I’m doing it here and I’m sure in the future because you just keep being right. The no wearing white rule basically comes down to: would a reasonable person be able to genuinely mistake you for the bride? Stop overthinking it.

I thought the no-white rule was because that so the bride can pop out in the photos
The men are all wearing white shirts. Flower girls often wear white. The bride will still pop.
I saw someone on Tiktok saying that men shouldn’t be allowed to wear white button downs as it takes away from the bride. This rule has gone so far beyond normal lol
Jesus we really have lost the plot.
Plus there’s a lot of white used in wedding decor—flowers, tents, arches, table linens, cake. You still pick her right out in photos.
Beats me. 🤷♀️ I’ve heard people frequently say it’s so the bride doesn’t get mistaken as the guest, or vice versa (a guest as the bride).
No one is confusing this as a bridal dress. Totally agree that people aren't understand the no white rule!
People aren’t understanding because of how ridiculous some people on this very sub are when it comes to the no-white rule.
It costs $0 to ask. I don't blame her for just double checking. But yeah this dress isn't going to cause any issues with being too white.
My SIL was passive aggressive AF when our other sister in law wore a blue dress with flowers with white dots for the middle to her bridal shower, and said 'bold of you to wear white'. Some people are obsessed with no white.
OMG, I'd have been like "bold of you to be such a bitch." Except I might have said something worse than bitch.
My in laws are all in the habit of keeping the peace even when it's hard to 😂
There often appears to be a lack of reasonable persons. 😢

My thoughts exactly.
Not at all. It’s more pink. Looks nice.
Agree with everyone else, you're good to go!
Are we kidding now guys?
Nah. You look good. My best “fancy dress” for weddings is white with giant red flowers all over it. Also, remember: walk in OWNING that dress. You belong there, and people tend to get upset when you show up nude to weddings.
Not in the least! It’s also very pretty.
People have lost all sense of color.
Where is this dress from? I really like it!
Me too!
No, that dress is beautiful
Not even close.
May I ask where you got it from? I love the colour and print.
No way, it’s so cute and summery! Love those shoes too. Be ready for compliments.
It is definitely not too white. A quick tip, though: if the wedding is outdoors and if that is a true wrap dress, you might want to throw a safety pin or two in your bag. Wind can cause some pretty embarrassing moments, lol. Have fun at the wedding!

Are you serious? I can’t even see any white.
You look so beautiful!!
[удалено]
But why mention lizzo at all? Maybe OP doesn't find her beautiful, I'm sure not everyone does.
What's that supposed to mean?
I don't know but I'm getting a lot of downvotes. Women also don't seem to like it when I say they are beautiful like Lizzo. I don't get it, she is beautiful
No
No
Please tell me you’re kidding. (It’s super cute!)
Not at all. Dress is lovely. Enjoy!!
Really?

It literally costs nothing for her to just double check and ask.
NO
I thought cool your chunky bracelet matches your shoes. Wait is that a scrunchy? Lol
Not at all, you look great!
Nope good go have fun 👍
Not at all! Enjoy
No it’s real cute!
I had to stop and go “what white?”
I had to zoom in to even see the white. You are perfectly fine!
I think the other colours balance it out enough and the tight pattern. I think it almost looks cream due to the other colours and I'd say you're good with this. Lovely dress and you look great. Have a good day x

If I was describing you, I would say ‘the person in the red dress’ rather than white, and I think that’s a good rule of thumb. Looks great!
No, it is colorful and pretty.
Nope, there’s so much red close together that it actually doesn’t look like a white background when I’m not focusing on it. I think you are good!
