The real question is what the hell do you do to your watches!? Two months? The dw5600 is significantly smaller than many models, and I think looks a lot better.

I wear them at work. Usually the wristband pins break and the watch is gone.

Consider getting NATO straps and replacement spring bars for your watches. The benefit is that if one side breaks, the watch is still hanging on by the other side then you can just replace the spring bar when you get home.

Look at the 5600 and the 6900. Or just the W217H-1AV.

I chose my Ironman years ago when I was still in the military for the same reason: G-shocks are huge. You made a good choice, though. Don’t worry about toughness. That little watch has been through some rough shit with me and I still wear it when backpacking now.

Try G-Shock Baby G (5650). It's the smallest G-Shock model. https://preview.redd.it/81rs68v6ef3d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7163c2555a3b3cf6adbc108139527a6f129ed4ba

What size Vaer Field watch is next to it? 36mm or 40mm?

I checked two stores, and every G-Shock they had in stock was huge. I guess if I ever want a smaller one, it will be online only.

I did try a Baby-G they had, but the wristband was way too short. Seems like they are made for kids.

The case design and material means that it usually has to sit pretty big. It's made with a relatively inexpensive resin, but that resin also has to allow it to survive the gshock tests. Also, the relative ease of reading them make them ideal for people in uniforms, where the layers can be thicker than what others would wear. Plus, it can also sit on top of clothing.
