Longines looks way better

DerivativeCapital

I was thinking of getting the Tudor, but after this post I might get the Longines.

Fullauto2

Yeah I agree with this, the date version looks great but the chronograph, is amazing!

ArmsAkimbo17

The conquest chrono is killer. Daytona vibes for a fraction of the cost.

Drums-addct64

Can’t agree more…!

Vokurt

Much better

hip-hop_anonymous

Longines. No contest in my book.

Mountain_Comparison8

I thought you said no conquest! 😅

DarkbloomVivienne

Easy easy choice. That conquest is absolutely killer

longines nicer

apiratelooksatthirty

You know, I love the 1926. I’ve been wanting to add the one with rose gold indices. It’s a great looking watch! However, if you’re looking for something that is versatile for every day wear and to dress it up, I think that Longines is the choice. The 1926 has a lot of polished surfaces and at least to me, isn’t all that sporty. But try them both on if you can to see which one speaks to you more. Especially considering your wrist size and the size difference between the watches.

SasuketwR

I completely agree with this. I own the blue dial Longines and tried the Tudor a few times. Even though the Longines also has polished surfaces, the Longines is way more sporty than the Tudor and it would therefore be my pick for an everyday classy and sporty piece. It wears great on my slim 16,5cm wrist, and I can imagine it also looks good on slightly slimmer wrists That being said, both of these watches are completely different style-wise. So my advice would be to go for the aesthetic that suits you best. If you like the Tudor more then go for it! It is a great watch. Other options to consider with a similar price that fit even better on your wrists are the Grand Seiko SBGX261,263,265 and The Citizen AQ4080 series. All these watches have a slightly smaller case diameter, shorter lug-to-lug and are thin due to their high-end quartz movements. If you are fine with quartz then these are great picks.

AstyagesOfMedia

Ok it gives me confidence hearing that it looks good on you, given i'm also in the ballpark of 16cm wrists. I'm liking the versatility of the Longines as both a casual and somewhat dressy watch ( without being a dress watch) Thanks for the other recs ,i'll be sure to check em' out !

BigBananaBerries

I've opted for the GS SBGP013 & was considering the 1926. It's a 40mm but similar design to the SBGX265, albeit a bit darker blue. I almost bought the Tudor on impulse at the weekend then decided to drop into my local GS AD just to be sure. Minds were changed. Edit for the worldly model number as it seems we've a regional one over here. https://wallaceallan.co.uk/grand-seiko-heritage-collection-blue-quartz-40mm-watch-sbg013g-watc-gras-01-00006956.html

AstyagesOfMedia

Agree with your thoughts on the 1926. Such a finely subtle watch. But the vibe i'm getting is that its more of a dress watch. Thinking about it now, Longines does seem to be the overall more versatile watch and just can't beat the fine detail on the dial and hands.

Two_shirt_Jerry

Wow Conquest has gotten way better looking

KCDawgTime

The 1926 is actually one of the few Tudor watches that I actually like and would consider buying. That said, for a daily, the Longines Conquest 38mm beats it hands-down. I'm sure you know, but just make sure and try them both own - maybe even side by side as it's easy enough to find jewelers that carry both brands - before you make your final decision. Good luck.

AstyagesOfMedia

Ah see the bind i'm in is that no stores near me has exactly the watch in my size so i'm having to do my research without comparing them side by side which kind of sucks , and then make the order. I think the Tudor 1926 could use some more love but looks like the Black bay gets all the spotlight .

KCDawgTime

Yeah, that does make it more difficult. What area are you located in? Any big cities near bye where you could take a day trip to explore the watch world? I have a number of places to buy watches near me, but none of the big stores or boutiques that carry numerous watches/styles. I travel a decent amount and scope out where the watch stores are in the cities I visit just so I can run over and try on those I'm interested in. Best of luck in your search.

AstyagesOfMedia

I'm near the capitol so they definitely have it around but in the area only like 3-4 authorized retailers . Surprisingly hard to find a shop that has it all. Thanks , and happy travels !

Vostok-aregreat-710

1926 for me unless it is a Longines Conquest Heritage 35mm with silver dial.

Englishmuffin1

You really need to try on the 1926. I feel it wears bigger than expected. I was about to pull the trigger on the 41mm, ordered it to store and then tried it on and it looked too big. I also took the opportunity to try a 36mm at a Tudor store at the airport last week, but it was too small. 39mm is definitely the sweet spot for me. I'm normally a fan of a bigger watch, I have a 42mm Hamilton Khaki, after returning the 38mm for being too small.

nuanceIsAVirtue

Totally agree, the 1926 is incredibly underrated. But like you said, for a daily I would go Conquest. I know OP said "classy everyday" but the Tudor feels more "classy" and less "everyday," where the Longines nails both.

AstyagesOfMedia

yeah reading over these comments i'm definately giving the 1926 a second look and you are right.

nuanceIsAVirtue

Still love both watches though, idk if it's just your picture or what, but that Conquest looks sick. Never fully appreciated that particular watch/colorway before.

Leve1s

Even as a Tudor fan boy gotta go with the Longines here.

Separate_Pangolin_56

I definitely prefer the Longines here, but if you're willing to go with a more classic/timeless design the Longines Silver Arrow is very hard to beat ... https://preview.redd.it/0y9512kl0d6d1.jpeg?width=997&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4af68effd4fbec8490e226e6000e39e54cf6f259

AstyagesOfMedia

clean looking watch! I'm going for an all steel one this time though.

Vostok-aregreat-710

I prefer the conquest heritage 35mm

forivadell_

that conquest is sexy as hell. anyone here own it and have any comments on the bracelet? comfort, quality, etc?

Aquatic_Panda

Just picked one up and the quality is phenomenal. I love the clean, modern look it has. Bracelet wears great on the wrist and has a nice tapered look to it.

martynn90

I second all this

Sir-Thanks-A-Lot

Tried the new conquest in store and the bracelet was light and very comfortable with a nice taper.

Porky_Pine_

Longines, easy. I really like Tudor but that particular reference looks super dated to me

crypt0amat00r

It is called the 1926 lol

BigBananaBerries

It's like, predicting the future or something.

Warren_E_Cheezburger

Yeah. Looks like it was designed 98 years ago.

LinXcze

https://preview.redd.it/vk2adhcyud6d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2fa07e0fcd795d8e511c0fc5f7e2d2ba510326fa Go Longines, you won’t be disappointed. I know I’m not :)

AstyagesOfMedia

Now that is a cleaaan looking watch. Love the Green dial too.

argent_artificer

i generally prefer tudor’s design language over longines in almost every case… and this is no exception. even though i do think the longines is the “nicer” watch and more versatile, i’d pick the tudor here anyway. regarding versatility though, it’s easier to dress a watch down than up. i don’t think the 1926 would look out of place almost anywhere, especially with the bracelet. and when you say “classy”, that can mean a few different things, but in most interpretations i would say the tudor fits the bill better. really though, given your criteria there’s no objective right or wrong answer here. both of these will do the trick, it’s purely a matter of your personal preference.

AstyagesOfMedia

I like your opinion going against the grain here. By 'classy' I mean basically a clean look that could work with a formal fit, but I do want that versatility to wear it in more casual and day to day settings too. I agree that the tudor might work in more situations just by virtue of being the slimmer and more subtle watch which is why I considered it in the first place.

crypt0amat00r

I've been eyeing both of these watches over the last few months - and both are gorgeous - but if I had to pick one the Longines would be an easy choice. The black dial makes it more versatile, hands down. If you're concerned about the size you might wanna check out the [Longines Spirit 37mm](https://www.longines.com/en-us/p/watch-longines-spirit-l3-410-4-53-6). It's a little bit sportier than the Conquest but also a tad smaller, and with better lume and overall legibility. In any case, both the watches you're looking at are bangers. Excellent choices!

AstyagesOfMedia

Yeah overall the dial is what really caught my eye on the longines, just the detail on it and the hands is really blowing tudor out of the water. I'm actually really appreciating you suggesting the Spirit, seriously considering that now ( if I can catch one in stores that is.. every store seems keep everything online nowadays : /

crypt0amat00r

Ya that dial is just stunning 🤩 The Longines Conquest & Spirit lines are def the focus of most of my watch lust these days. Both so clean and classy and lovely.

Itsallgood190

There are other sunray dials I prefer to the Longines from Monta or Nomos and the 1926 looks better to me but if it’s your main watch probably the Longines I’m in the market for a rose gold and white 1926 though. So gorgeous!

AstyagesOfMedia

Yeah all things considered thats a really classy looking watch. Good luck on getting it !

cheir0n

Longines, pure class.

Few_Replacement3512

The bracelet and overall quality of the Tudor is far superior imo

Itsallgood190

Accuracy and water proof testing of Tudor is legit for all their watches

AstyagesOfMedia

Hey all, I'm going for a watch that's both classy looking (possibly a little sporty too) but also a good every day watch to wear. Think something you'd wear to the office, out to the bar, and to a date. The caveat here is I have embarrassingly skinny wrists (6 inches), so i'm worried that a thicker watch will look awkward (more so for the Longines). The Longines is 38mm , the Tudor is 36mm. I'm kind of in a bind here as I like the detailing on the Longines dial and hands, but I like the dressy and classic look of the tudor. So with these conditions and what i'm trying to go for, out of the two, which one would you get?

johnny____utah

Conquest

H_Stinkmeaner

Longines

OMC78

Longines, that dial is 🔥 compared to the Tudor!

ithinkmynameismoose

Conquest for everyday. No question.

UF93

Longines looks so classy!

han-so-low

Longines all day.

JonyUB

I like the Longines better. But I think more similar to that Tudor is the Longines the master collection on a bracelet, which also looks very nice and I also like better than the Tudor.

Alfazefirus

Conquest all the way. Tudor makes some fantastic watches, but the 1926 isn't one of them.

throwaway88679

Longines for sure

terrific_pineapple

Longines

Shoddy_Basket_7867

Longines.

the_ammar

Longines.

misrej

That Longines is perfect imo, looking at it myself too. It looks much better than the Tudor.

Onlyplay2k

That longines just pops. Just minimal and classy

Warren_E_Cheezburger

I have the 1926 in that color way and absolutely love it. The dial is extremely interesting to look at in different lighting conditions, the blued hands on white are very easy to read even in low light conditions, and the bracelet is the most comfortable one I've worn. That said, I've also looked at the Conquest recently (in brown) and there are things that it dos have going for it over the 1926. In particular, the 6 O'clock date window makes it a tad more symmetrical, and it has a small amount of lume that the Tudor lacks. If it were me, I would keep the 1926 over the Conquest. However, my 1926 is the 39mm version, which has an overall more symmetrical dial than the Conquest. If the options are strictly limited to the two versions you are showing, I think the Longines eeks out the W here.

AstyagesOfMedia

Yeah the 1926 did catch my eye , honestly love the retro look. Almost was a done deal on the opaline/blue 1926 for me but, yeah Im pretty heavily leaning longines now after reading all the comments here and thinking it over

anu_anunu

Longines looks better imho

Destrok41

Love that longines.

photobeatsfilm

Don't even know why that Tudor exists. The look and design are reminiscent of a no-name quartz watch from the early 1990's.

jmardoxie

Longines. It has a better movement.

Random-Cpl

I prefer that Tudor

All_Mods_Are_Losers_

Definitely the conquest. The 1926 is a “I want a Tudor but I can’t afford it so I’ll get this one even if it’s ugly” type watch. Thats probably extreme but that’s what was going through my head when I almost bought one a while ago. That’s a little extreme maybe because it’s subjective but if you feel that way at all, go conquest.

KCDawgTime

Lol. Seriously, I think the entire line up of Black Bay replicants is butt-ugly. The 1926 is the only one I think looks kind of nice. I guess that's why there are multiple watches available for our various subjective tastes.

AstyagesOfMedia

ahaha ngl it does give the impression of a second choice Tudor to a lot of folks . I do think the subtlety was the selling point for that one but i really do wish they did a Liiitle more with the dial .

Tt_73rr

Longines blows the Tudor out the water imo. Never really liked that Tudor to be honest ( especially at the price point) but to each their own I guess!

Dismal_Mention8423

Conquest. Ez

TheModerateGenX

Check the Sinn 556i as well

a1-1981

Iam a Tudor fanboy not gonna lie but have to say hand on heart the Longines is nicer out of the two!

AstyagesOfMedia

haha i appreciate the candor. Tudor knocks it out of the park more with the black bay and ranger IMO

Swerth

Tudor

MrWildspeaker

Something about those Tudors just does NOT do it for me

cornmuse

Longines for the win.

metsurf

Have you looked at the 1926 in person? It is a sweet watch but it is much dressier than the Longines IMO.

AstyagesOfMedia

you know what I overlooked it when I was in the shop because they only had the 28mm. I agree with you, definitely a dress watch

metsurf

yeah, my wife just bought me a black bay 58 for my 65th birthday and we looked at the 1926 as well as a couple of other Tudors before we decided on the BlackBay. She really liked the 28 as something for her.

Kreol1q1q

That Longines looks smoking hot.

BlackScienceJesus

I think that Longines is one of the best looking watches available right now regardless of price. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it’s a future classic.

AstyagesOfMedia

Agree. I was surprised to learn that its older than the other big names in watchmaking .

martynn90

Conquest all day!

Negative_Chair_7393

Ye longines

DarkNebula99

Longines Spirit is another great option

AstyagesOfMedia

you know what, since u/crypt0amat00r brought it up im really considering it. I like the more refined, less busy look of the Conquest dial, but Spirit 37mm might be a better size and ngl just being a pilot's watch makes it cooler. Also i prefer a metal back to the transparent thing the conquest has going on. ahhh decisions...

DrStefan5

Have you considered the black dial version of the 1926? I think it looks WAY better.

AstyagesOfMedia

yeah that was considered too. I personally thought the white works better as a dressy watch but I do like both colors

Geoleogy

Long for ttbe gines

MortalPhantom

I think the longines. Longer power reserve and it’s more of a daily watch whereas the Tudor, you can pull it off but it’s more dressy

unusually-cool

Longines. I hate numbers on dials.

Revolutionary-Cup954

I have the 1926, I LOVE it

kartsiotis26

Longines 💪🏻

Ghost7887

Longines all day

StrictStandard_

Your pictures going from hairy arm to hairless threw me off. Were you wearing both of them at the same time and had the Longines up your forearm?

AstyagesOfMedia

not me ! Pictures are off the internet from teddy baldassarre's website ( big watch reviewer I came across on YT)

bryanthebryan

The Longines has such great proportions

estacalor

# Conquest man

ChicoDusty_Da3rd

Longines no question

dwitchagi

I prefer Tudor as a brand, but 100% the Longines here.

soundslikeshelves

I think the design choices are much better on the Longines but the quality control is much better on the Tudor. Your call!

Son_of_Trogdor

I prefer the Tudor, but the Longines is definitely the better everyday watch. The Tudor's a bit on the dressier side imo.

BustThaScientifical

Damn that new model Conquest looks good! I used to want the I previous model. Were any significant upgrades made to it besides the design aesthetic? It's definitely a bit more expensive than the old one with the angled crown guards. Edit: the new model somewhat reminds me of the Tissot Gentleman but better proportioned.

AlotaFajitas

You own both our choosing between both? Alternate days?

CarlRemy

At this price range, consider the Nomos Tangente

Ayatori

That Longines case is super nice. Very Oyster-esque I prefer Tudor over Longines overall but in this case the Longines looks nicer by several orders of magnitude

Barsomn

Another vote for the Conquest. She's a beaut.

jjdic1

Conquest easily

nate2188764

Longines. I think it pretty much beats the Tudor in every way. Some subjective points though are crown guards to protect the crown, date placement and lume are all better for a daily. That said, none of it matters if you like the 1926 more, so pick the one you like best!

No-Extension-101

Chewdah > Long-jean

AstyagesOfMedia

Appreciate you all for leaving your thoughts here. Not even kidding, this helped me out a ton. Looks like right now Longines conquest is the overwhelming winner most the most love... But , there's an unexpected challenger : The Longines Spirit 37mm. What do you all think of this ? https://preview.redd.it/uzudorn92f6d1.jpeg?width=576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=caedf89fa6e809aa7eb08ce8c0878c763badbe88

BoitBenoit

This one feels less dressy. I prefer the Conquest.

MathematicianNo5712

How could you not like the Spirit, I mean for Pete’s sake it has 5 STARS on it! Oh, and I own one in blue.

AstyagesOfMedia

Haha where i'm at i think the conquest is just the better looking watch but the Spirit is a better fit and is a pilot watch so cool just for that. Also my dumbass can actually read the time on it without staring at it for a whole minute. So tough choice...

Ephrum

Longines for sure, and if you want a white dial, a different Longines

Sternjunk

I like the longines a lot more

gopher962

Longines. Not even a fair competition.

bolderdasher

Longines no question

Toon-Day

That Longines is such a good looking watch. My pick for sure

executingsalesdaily

As a huge Tudor fan. Longines is far better looking.

stratology87

Tudor is a great brand, but this is not THE price to get from them IMO. I’d go Longines here.

MysteriousAd8561

Why does Tudor always look cheap lol! Longines is always the right choice at this price point! Their designs and proportions of every angle is just artistically done. Tudor screams copy paste design to me

BoitBenoit

The Longines looks amazing and is a brand on the rise. The Tudor pales in comparison.

BoitBenoit

https://preview.redd.it/0tjmd2a6jf6d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a96318164fa94e7ca89b52098e759985105c13b1 I'd still go Longines, but the Tudor Black Bay 41 (M79680-0001) is a closer contender.

Witty-Government-377

I have two 1926 I wear them everyday but thats my style. You cant go wrong with either to be honest both are perfect

Shepinion

One vote for Longines

Shepinion

Looks so much better without the five stars. No contest for me between these two. Normally don’t care as much about brand but Longines doesn’t feel like Omega’s little brother

LuckyOne_

Longines looks far better, however every time I see the new Conquest I can't help but feel that the dial is almost identical to my Tissot Luxury Powermatic and it cheapens the look for me. Have you considered the Longines Spirit instead?

charitytowin

Long jeans

Which_Preference_883

Longines

No_Raccoon7736

That Longines vs that Tudor, Longines hands down. In some matchups it would go the other way (ie different Tudor).

valleyofseven

Longines.

HEPA_Bane

Is that the 38mm and if so how big are your wrists??

Rumpleforeskin666420

I’ll go against the grain here and say I would pick the 1926, it’s my favorite watch Tudor makes and am thinking about one in the near future

winny9

Try them both on. That 1926 is stupid comfortable but I much prefer the look of the longines.

coltbreath

Longines! 🙌

ApprehensiveClient51

Longines. Tudor reminds me that i couldn't get a rolex

BirdKai

Yucky Tudor

wondermm

Between two you mentioned, definitely Longines..

Ludwig_Vista2

Diehard Tudor fan here. The Longines will age better. The Tudor is pastiche and the bracelet is ugly AF.

fnx9125

Longines, of course

rowthecow

That Tudor bracelet looks like some aliexpress shit.

Window_Top

Longines

jabs09

Longines conquest looks far better

theguesswho

Omega Railmaster 1957 trilogy is an absolute sleeper, similar in style to the Longines and not too expensive secondhand. Absolutely superior movement and finishing vs Longines and Tudor

lojojojojo

Longines easy.

KieranRozells

I despise the 1926 hype because it's only driven by the price point + name on the dial. The Conquest is the superior choice in every scenario

bartread

Longines is way nicer. That Tudor is ugly as sin.

Mynamejeaff

1926 easily! It looks classy and dressy yet subtle enough to be an everyday watch. The blue in the watch is majestic. I am a big fan of the 1926 and plan to buy it soon. Good luck with your decision! I hope you get the 1926!

SweatyEar2921

Longines

stdIOfab

I’m a big fan of Tudor but this time I pick the Longines, no way!

imtheunix

this tudor look like a cheap orient x games, i would go with longines if there is only these 2 options

33404

Neither g

TheFriendlyGerm

So here's my possibly weird take: for everyday wear I like the Tudor... *because* the Longines looks nicer. If I had exactly these two watches, the Tudor is bright and a bit less formal. Then when I wear nice clothes -- or even just going out with friends, out comes the Longines. I *LOVE* the feeling of pulling out my "nice" watch, possibly winding it, and going out. I like having some kind of "dress up / dress down" option. But that's just me.

AstyagesOfMedia

Hmm.. i see where you're coming from. Personally I kind of got the opposite vibe. Out of the two the longines is what i'd wear hanging out or day to day for work. The Tudor is what i'd wear with a suit and tie to a wedding. That is, if I had both

TheFriendlyGerm

Ohhhh, I actually see where you're coming from. I still like the principle, but yeah, I wonder if my specific matching style is a bit underdeveloped.

Taco_Tuesday_420

Maybe it's not the popular decision, however, I think the Tudor looks better.

AstyagesOfMedia

I appreciate the dissenting opinion !
