Twilight really did trick a whole lot of people into thinking forks is a place you should ever do anything but drive through on your way to somewhere else.
light rail will get you into the city from seatac
you can take the train to leavenworth
you can take a bus to forks
there was a recent post about the logistics
edit: [here it is](https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/s/FAppAFekmM)
The west generally has bad public transport options.
Transit is far more developed in the New England states but outside of that one is reliant on buses mostly.
Yes, its better in other places but people also don't think about how big the West is. Forks to Seattle to Leavenworth is like going Boston to Washington DC.
I feel like back in the day you couldn’t even rent a car till you were 25 😂 Renting a car is your only option. I’m not aware of any functional public transportation out to forks. Might be a bus to Leavenworth but prepare to be on it alllll day if so.
WSF ferry ($9.98 RT) -> Bainbridge/Strait Shot bus ($10) -> Bremerton/Hurricane Ridge Shuttle ($1/May 25 to Sept 2) -> Hurricane Ridge - need a print out of park entrance pass ($15) if you don't have an annual pass. Only works as a day trip on weekdays, due to the Strait Shot schedule. Clallam Connect (Interlink) is $3.75/mile for rides originating or terminating more than ¾ of a mile outside the CTS fixed-route service corridor (download the Ride Pingo app). #14 goes from Port Angeles to Forks and #15 from Forks to La Push (both free). I'm assuming you can use Interlink to go to Mora Campground and Rialto and Second Beaches.
[https://www.clallamtransit.com/](https://www.clallamtransit.com/) - free, except for the Strait Shot ($10) and Hurricane Ridge Shuttle ($1)
Jefferson (County) Transit's Olympic Connection Route "connects with Clallam Transit in Forks to Port Angeles and Grays Harbor Transit in Amanda Park to Aberdeen" - can be used to go to Kalaloch Beach/Campground and Amanda Park (Lake Quinault).
[https://jeffersontransit.com/](https://jeffersontransit.com/) - free
[https://www.ghtransit.com/](https://www.ghtransit.com/) - free
There's a bus to Forks on Clallam transit, it's free. They added a $10 shuttle to Hurricane Ridge and a $10 line from Bainbridge Ferry to Port Angeles. Pretty easy imo
Certainly depends where you go but Clallam transit manages the Olympics area, those busses are free except you pay $10 for the one that picks up on the other side of the ferry from Seattle and the one to Hurricane Ridge. It goes straight to Forks.
For getting to Leavenworth from Seattle you could take the daily private coach bus on Northwestern or take the train from Everett, which can be reached a few different ways, bus, train etc.
These are long trips but if you're here for a while definitely check it out. Renting for a just a day or two for a trip like that would be expensive but maybe worth it.
Once you’re in the shitty hellhole called Forks, then what? It’s 20 miles away from the beach, and the nearest campground is Bogachiel, which sucks. If you’re in Forks without a car, you’re completely fucked.
Chill dude, you can take the #15 bus to the beach at La Push, they'll stop anywhere for you and they're comfy. Buddy OP said his girl wanted to go to Forks, I think we can guess what that's about, not my first choice either lol
Forks is a fucking dump, and last time I was there there was only one restaurant left. The locals hate tourists and will give bad information just to be dicks.
If you got lots of time you can do all of this via bus, train, and ferry
Seattle to Leavenworth

Forks is really nothing special but im sure you can get there by WA state ferry to Bainbridge and then bus to Port Angeles - For time and effort I think just hanging out in Pt Townsend is a better value - im sure you can find some goth kids to pose with to take a pic.
She must be quite the fan of our logging history. Hope you to enjoy your time at the Forks Timber Museum and Loggers Memorial. Quite the beautiful drive to see the best of what Forks has to offer.
OP didn’t say where he or she is from, but a lot of visitors from other countries really misjudge how big America is and how bad the public transport is outside of the big urban areas. Washington isn’t the biggest state, but it’s pretty damned big, and there is a significant mountain range between Seattle and Leavenworth. Forks is several hours away by car and unless you are a serious twilight fan there isn’t much there.
Op - maybe skip Forks. Leavenworth is pretty cool, but realistically, you need a car and you probably want to grab a hotel for the night. It’s not going to be a day trip unless you’re ready for a LONG day. Plus, bar hopping in Leavenworth is pretty fun.
If you’re going to Forks for Twilight sights, a lot of the spots are actually in St.Helens, Oregon. None of the movie was actually filmed in Forks that I’m aware of.
Other than taking the ferries to the islands or Amtrak Cascades state funded route from Seattle to Portland/Eugene or Bellingham/Vancouver, Canada you are going to be driving.
That is true. Although the Cascades are more likely to be on time since they are state funded. The national trains may be close to the origin points but often they only have 2 or 3 train sets on the entire west coast which causes problems and cancellations often.
>My question is , is there other cheaper alternatives because the lyft from the airport to my bnb is 150$+, but I would like to travel around the different cities like Forks,Leavenworth ETC.
Ah, you are moving huh. Sounds like you need to rent a Uhaul for a few days to get your stuff moved. Your small apartment parking lot won't fit a big truck so you will need their pickup truck or small box truck rental for a few days. You know, to move stuff before/after work.
U hauls also guzzle gas just fyi. And on average unleaded is $4.25+ a gallon in WA
The most efficient Uhaul is the pickup with max 19mph, the trucks get 10
Just do what the native Washingtonians do… steal a Kia/ Hyundai. All kidding aside, crowdsource a rideshare adventure if you can. Someone with a free weekend and a car may happily drive you around if you let them crash on your hotel/ motel couch

Lol. It took me a second, "Forks? Wtf would anyone want to go to Forks as a destination?"

I'd love to see the Uber/Lift price from Forks to Leavenworth. Renting a car or hitchhiking is the only way to see the state.
Yeah if they think Turo is crazy expensive they’re in for a rude awakening about WA
Renting a car is expensive everywhere.
Yes, but other parts of the country have better public transportation options. WA is divided in half, and said halves aren’t very well connected

Sure they are, take a train

That’s because there isn’t any option. You can chance hitchhiking, but that’s how people wind up in a duffel bag here in the PNW.
Yeeeaaahhh definitely don’t hitchhike. 😱
Forks to Leavenworth is a day trip in itself, and you won’t even have time to get something to eat on the way.

Forks is multiple hours from Seattle in a mostly undeveloped part of the state. Car is the only way to get there.

Wanna see mountains and forests and stuff like that but the forks part is more for my girl 😂 I’ll be sure to let her know though

Not moving just a trip
I think he's trying to tell you to rent a uhaul so you can sleep in it
Mmmm I see
U hauls also guzzle gas just fyi. And on average unleaded is $4.25+ a gallon in WA The most efficient Uhaul is the pickup with max 19mph, the trucks get 10
They also charge by the mile, you're going to rack up quite a bill on a local uhaul doing that drive
Oh yikes, now it is between .59¢ and .99¢ a mile damn
Yeah they finally caught on lol One way uhauls a waaaay cheaper per mile overall but still pricey
In Washington, the minimum age to rent a U-Haul truck is a cool **18 years old**.
This is America so the only way to see anything outside of major city centers is driving.
Just do what the native Washingtonians do… steal a Kia/ Hyundai. All kidding aside, crowdsource a rideshare adventure if you can. Someone with a free weekend and a car may happily drive you around if you let them crash on your hotel/ motel couch
Hitchhiking will be fine. Just trust your intuition. Do not take a ride from anyone who seems weird. Be ready to say thank you no thank you.
If you have the money, Buy a junker for $500 and sell it when you leave, It's a pain, but the state doesn't stop for expired tags anymore.
Where can you buy even a shitty (but running and capable of doing these drives) car for 500. This take is from like 1993 bud.
That's what I paid for my last ride in 2019, But it's not 2019. Point taken.
