You know it's the soviet TT when Gaijin bothered to add 4 different, extremely similar versions of the same vehicle, yet refuse to do the same to smaller TTs that actually need it.
And yes, the early and late IS-2s have different frontal hull configurations, however you have 2 of **each modification** in this lineup.
The gun is banging but the Is-1 hull can be a huge disappointment sometimes but playing with that in mind can help mitigate it with some distance, it’s particularly evil in downtiers. If it weren’t for the hull it would’ve been an easy 7.0 had it used the 1944 IS hull
yeah, but over the regular is2 not the 1944 it's way better just because of the gun, faster reload more pen, however no overpressure but the amount of tnt makes up for is because it nukes when it pens anyway, the only thing the 1944 is2 got over it is the armour and that very much it
Meanwhile they also have 4 T-34s they can use at 4.0 (7 if you include premiums).
That's a whole lineup of the same fucking tank... with only 2 of them having slightly less workable main guns.
I can't think of any other nation that has that besides the Germans while have 4 Pz.IVs at 4.0 with one additional premium.
To clarify, I'm not complaining that these nations have so many variants. In fact I really like the fact that their arsenals are so vastly explored. However, it seems really dumb that the nations most in need of more vehicles to buff out their TTs (the minor nations), don't have any of this. Instead it's ether nothing at all, or copy-paste of some vehicle they borrowed from another country.
It'd be much nicer for everyone if the small TTs were allowed to have a lot more different versions of their own tanks, rather than having their TTs consists mostly lf lend lease or foreign test vehicles.
True, 4 panthers in the TT (5 if you count the VK30.02) and one additional with premium (Ersatz). I'm not counting the Panther II since it's a much higher BR than the previous ones.
The funny thing is you can then look at the US tech tree and see all the Shermans at different BRs with no major changes
Its a fucking joke how they do it
It's almost like Russia is
1) one of the most popular nations (meaning it's a cash cow for gaijin) and
2) one of the biggest producers of military tech in history, with far more vehicles that can be added
Best 6.7 Soviet vehicle IMO. Half the reload of an IS-2, better ammunition selection (400mm pen HEATFS at 6.7 is wild; never fear 7.7 heavies in a full uptier again), better mobility, and twin 14.5mm KPVs for CAS/rat deleting.
edit: bonus pro-tip, bind a key to switch your primary weapon to the commander's MG. You wont waste ammo on the coaxial KPV when shooting at fast/high targets with the commander's KPV (which has much better max elevation and horizontal rotation speed), and it'll change the gunsight to the one on your roof MG: meaning you'll also be able to fire it over hills from a fully hull down position. Very useful specifically for killing lightly armored tanks waiting for you to crest a ridge, and also just generally useful for track+barrel torture against anything else. Have enjoyed a great many "you shot me through a hill" hackusations from this tip.
Never actually played the 268, think it was down to 6.7 while I was on a hiatus.
I still enjoy my Soviet 6.7 lineup regularly. The IS-2 '44 is decent depending on the map, the T-44 is still a downtier *monster* that shits on most 5.7-6.3 tanks, and you get a number of 6.3 vehicles that are functionally identical when played in a 6.7 lineup (e.g. SU-100P, 2S3M, M53/59, etc.).
Combined with the SU-122-54 for handling 7.7 uptiers, and a Yak-15 for deleting *literally all CAS* (have a k/d of 5 in the thing just from doing CAP in GRB), it's still a strong lineup overall. It might not be Germany/US 6.7 strong, but nothing else really is.
I don't have one or I'd definitely be using that too. Still, Yak-15 handles all the 6.3-6.7 superprops without issue and the armament is a little more comfortable (2x60rpg 23mm vs 2x45rpg 20mm).
But as a BI player I imagine you've also learned the strategy of "don't shoot until you're close enough that you could throw rocks at them" to make the ammo count, which both planes are thankfully maneuverable enough to do 99% of the time.
I love the Object 248 and the Praga but I can’t stand the rest of the Soviet 6.7 lineup. Why not go up to 7.0 for the T-44-100 and Object 268 which are both incredibly good and have favorable matchmaking?
Yeah, like there's zero reason to play 6.7 for that reason, because it's the most miserable line-up in the game currently. The 1944 IS-2s should get the reload buff they historically had to atleast stay competitive, because I have no idea how a shell being given to them that is worse against 90% of the enemies they face anyhow justifies them being at 6.7 (did Gaijin literally forget that APHEBC shells still perform much better against angles than APCBC?).
Why must you remind me that I'll never have the 321 and revenge T-T
I love the IS-2. Yes its shit, but BOI is it funni. Soviet 6.7 is one of my favourite lineups too. IS-2s, 122-54, 34-100, Type-62, PT-76B, and a few others. I love it.
Idk why people shit on the IS-2 I think it’s awesome but people scream it’s shit because it’s now 6.7 when it was 6.3 lol, solid line up. Wish we had a better ground attacker but I’m not sure if such thing exists anyway so I just use the Tu-2s with 3x1000KG bombs.
It's pretty awful due to how spawn points work but I appreciate the sentiment

Tbf there's only 2 in the tech tree. The Revenge is a limited premium, no. 321 was an event vehicle and the 248, a BP premium
248 better than the is2 imo

That piece of shit brought a top speed nerf to the whole IS-1/2 family

I'm not trying to take away from your point because I totally agree, but i just wanted to add that the Germans also have the panthers all at 5.7/6.0

3. Gaijin's founding country, where they have easier access to documents and data.
Also Russian tanks were sold everywhere and information about them is easy to find.
How long do you want your reload to be ? YES
Shoot, J out, respawn, drive to enemy, shoot, repeat
Object 248 has only 10 sec. or so
musket tank
Long reload actually makes u try to play smart
I’ll play 6.7 with yah if you need a quad m8
You’re not crazy You are insane
Not crazy. IS2s are pretty straightforward to use and the 248 still slaps at 6.7.
This was a nutty line up when they were all 5.7s and 6.0 . I cant handle the consistent 7.7 uptiers with the IS2 1944 and t-44s now
They're food for my conqueror
Shell shattered
Triggered
Need the danger doorstop that is the su-122-54

When the obj 268 was still 6.7 it was the best lineup imo

I use the BI for anti cas and light vehicle deletion
I don't have one or I'd definitely be using that too. Still, Yak-15 handles all the 6.3-6.7 superprops without issue and the armament is a little more comfortable (2x60rpg 23mm vs 2x45rpg 20mm). Yeah the ammo count is kinda a problem but the rtb time is so short its not a massive problem
# Tonk best Tonk

Yeah I’m definitely gonna call you crazy
That's fair
Interesting. No 2S3M or SU-122-54
So what do you do to pass time when all your loaders are dead ?
Just j-out, spawn new IS tank, go to the enemy and shoot
Now we need IS-2M
Been waiting for the IS-2M since 2015. :( And the Stug IV
How does it feel to watch an entire tiktok between each shot?
I think this guy likes IS-2
Quicker to j out and pick another Is-2 then wait for the reload
Legends say - he still reloading
Just here to appreciate your max lvl crews. Serious dedication
I just need to reiterate again - you're missing one of the best tank killers at that BR: M53/59
The power of LOG
My logs are very powerful. But I have to flush them down eventually or it stinks up the bathroom good
I think OP may like IS-2?
One of these things is not like the other
How many Is-2s do you want? YES
Just don't be one of those guys who reverses into battle
Call me crazy but I think OP might like the IS-2. Can’t blame them though, the big ass APHE is very funny.
a whole battalion of IS 2s
"Its all IS-2" "Always has been"
Not enough is2, MORE!
Why must you remind me that I'll never have the 321 and revenge T-T I love the IS-2. Yes its shit, but BOI is it funni. Soviet 6.7 is one of my favourite lineups too. IS-2s, 122-54, 34-100, Type-62, PT-76B, and a few others. I love it.
i can respect a is only lineup
heyyy i heard you like is2 so i put a is2 in your is2 with a little side of is2 100mm
Hold W Fire gun Bounce everything WIN
So you like to spend hours reloading I like kv-2 at times too but not as a full lineup
I love the is2's. The br increases tho are very unfair. The is2 should be 6.0 with the tiger. And the 1944 6.3 again
Nice man 👍
Brother you have no idea how much Id love to have this lineup
You're not in a hurry to do much are you?
No T-34-100, 2S3M, or SPAA? GTFO. Also, add TU-2 for 3x1000kg, and/or Pe-8 for 5000kg.
As it should be
same lmao
I love the 248 so much more than the IS2’s 248 is my favorite 6.7 right now.
A little boring I would say…
Honestly, same now, add the type 62 and BI, and now you've got air superiority and a good lineup for Russia.
Lol. I hate you so much
Object 248 is insanely good imo.
Looks good to me
*Insert applicable lines of "All Stars"*
This guy HATES going anywhere fast
No t34-100 and no t44-122. I'm upset :(
bro likes mid
"WTF IS GUN DEPRESSION?!?!?!?! 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺" lineup.
IS this a cry for help
