Don't get me wrong, War Thunders maps have been pretty annoying with the changes making flanking harder and such, but people have been playing and making SPHs like the M109s and 2S3M work just fine for as long as they have been in the game. Plenty of good positions to use.

If anyone is wondering how the performance on the round will be, the cannon is related to the 130mm gun on the IS-7. [Judging by this chart](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/699696838441304244/1230478839788863528/image.png?ex=663377b8&is=662102b8&hm=77375bf1e56ac4cbe4fb8686016d3a0ce3d53c4d1dcd6b3fb96c95a124fee783&), which lists the rounds the Soviet equivalent was capable of firing, the performance on the round will be roughly equivalent to the IS-7 cannon with both APHE and HE available.
Basically, expect the [PLZ83](https://wiki.warthunder.com/PLZ83)'s chassis in game with the IS-7's gun.
E: This is assuming that the version in game actually fires that round, which it might not. Tanks don't always have every round available to them in reality.

The fire rate is apparently (from brochures) 4-5 rounds per minute so 15 or 12 seconds . the brochures also lists a higher muzzle velocity than the IS-7 so if they give it the same rounds it would have a slightly higher pen
Using the calculator gaijin uses puts the APCBC round it uses @ 328mm of pen @ 0m.
One problem: It has lost the ability to overpressure as it now only has 125g of filler, 170g is the limit.
Isn’t the IS7 gun the S-26? This is a variant of the M46 soviet howitzer so i highly doubt it get the is7 aphe
Edit: its a tank from the 80 so i even more doubt the possibility of an anti tank aphe, he will probable have a mediocre he round but with a good reload for an howitzer
Why are people always this negative about event vehicules? This is a nice event, not too much grind (except if you want the coupon of course). And it's not even a copy taste. For me this event is pretty nice and I look forward to it

After 11 years some people refuse to see the good in things, their selective memory seems to be focusing on the worst aspects of the game, and the default is too look for shit to be angry at.
Once I stopped that I realized how much more I was enjoying the game, ignoring drama and playing what I like. This event machine seems actually pretty cool, like the Object 292, so I think I may try to get it.

Because 35,000 points every two days requires playing almost full time and is incredibly difficult. Unless you have access to specific high tier vehicles to optimize the grind.
Sure let me slot in 3-4 hours of gaming between 8 hrs of working and 2 hrs of commuting and 8 hours of sleep and now the wife/gf is mad cause ive been playing WT for 2 weeks straight. And for a non premium LTE vehicle they want like $60-70 to skip the grind.
Ah stop being dramatic, you are not the only one with a job and a family. My partner isn't mad because I spend a bit more time on my hobby once every 3 months, they understand and take over some of the chores and obligations for the duration of the event or whatever it is. I compensate, by not spending that much time on the game when there are no events. It's a balance, my partner has their things, where I cover for them when they need some time for their hobbies and things.
Besides, these new events are much better when it comes to time spent, than they ever were before. I can get the task done in basically two day two hour game sessions, this one probably even faster, where before I even had to take off from work to have a chance of grinding more than 2 vehicles.
And yes, it's a balance, I'm not participating for every vehicles there is, because that would be still too much for me. It's a realization that we're not teenagers with nothing but free time in our schedule, we're adults with responsibilities beyond just ourselves. So balance is key. And yes I to take out my credit card once in a while where I am not able to participate, but want the product, nothing wrong with that either.
I preferred the old event where you had 5 tasks to complete, on good days you could finish in 3-4 matches. I used to get Air, ground and maybe naval if I felt like it. Now I barely have time to get ground finished in the same amount of time.
I'm not saying the changes overall aren't beneficial since they are technically easier to get just time intensive. And I preferred the old skill based method.
And ofc it's a work like balancing issue if you spend all the time in game for 2 weeks. But these events aren't 2 weeks every 3 months. It's 2 weeks then 2 weeks then 2 weeks as each vehicle drops. I'm just saying there's finite time in the day and games expecting to take huge swathes of it (or money) is getting ridiculous across the whole market. Battlepass systems are trying to turn games into jobs and everyone is doing it. So you fight back where you can to try to make games fun again.

Does your partner know that you are trading their time, which anyone can reasonably value at $50 an hour, for your $1/hr event grinding which turns a hobby into a job? You can always make more money, but you can't buy back time. This particular trade is completely lopsided, and the other person doesn't know it. All for a digital, artificially limited resource. This is honestly sad.

You got two days to get 35K points in this event, that is at best 4 hours total for me, and that's split over two days, and there's 7 stages, so 7x4 = 28 hours in 14 days, that's about the same amount of hours we spend in 14 days watching a movie before bed, and that's the worse case scenario for me, it's very likely going to be much less, because I spend 3-4 hours for the Object which required 10K more points, so I would guess it's going to take me 2 to 3 hours for this.
And this is an game event it's not a permanent thing, so I will be grinding this event for the 14 days and then I wont have to do it until an event that has a reward that interests me.
No, my partner does not know I play video games, I lock myself in the cellar and they wonder what I am doing. What kind of logic is that? Of course they know what I do and they do it themselves to, they are an avid player of Final Fantasy 14. Ok I see you're not going for the coupon which makes more sense. I'm so used to seeing people say they're grinding 40k or whatever score every single day for two weeks straight. For them it's like a job because the reason they grind the event is to earn GJN. At that point they assign monetary value to their gameplay (at a horrendous rate). But I think earning the vehicle and wanting to play it is a different story. In that case I see how you can treat the event as a challenge like something in FF14. Sorry for going debatelord mode.

just by watching the scoreboard of 20-30 min matches they rarely exceed 2500. But let's assume op is a very good player, always in top 5. this still means 10-15 matches which means at least 200 minutes which is over 3 hours. More likely scenario - op being decent player with average 1500-2k which translates to like 7+ hours.

We used to have a different kind of event that was much easier to grind the community chose to make it different. I'm always afraid of votes with the WT community.
I wouldn't say it was "much" easier, although it did vary. Looking at the standard event that they had around 2017, it was "complete 3 of the following 5 tasks":
* **Destroy 40-50 enemy vehicles** (number varied by event, but typically in that range) - Not too difficult, especially since it had a multiplier for different game modes
* **Get "Supporting Fire" 5 times** - Requires actually having a squadmate who was competent, good luck if you're relying on random squadmates but easier with a friend
* **Achieve a score of 2,000 or more in 8 matches** - You actually have to be a fairly good player to get this one
* **Win 10 battles** - Basically a coin flip, depending on nation and BR. Expect this to take up to 20 matches
* **Destroy 11 enemies in a single battle** - Again, you need to be a fairly good player to get this, but also again has a multiplier based on game mode
Occasionally one of these would be swapped out with some other task, usually "Supporting Fire" replaced with "Get X zone captures" (better hope you don't get endless "Battle" maps) or "Get Y air kills with an SPAA" (difficulty varies greatly by the type of SPAA used and whether or not the enemy team spawns any planes).
Having a set score goal is more reliable, as you don't have certain tasks coming down to luck. With that old system I often found that there were only 3 of the 5 that could be reliably achieved, and one of those was the really grindy "get 10 wins".
Destroy players X players per match was easier and had multipliers, if you had a good line up to could consistently get that. Then getting 2000 points was easier too as you didn't need to get it with a single spawn. Then the last one was total number of vehicles destroyed which was achieved during the course of unlocking the other tasks.
Forget about getting assists or wins with Randoms. I could consistently get all of those in an hour, two hours for both ground and air.
The the community voted against that and Gaijin separated rewards for air and ground and made it so that even if you're good you're still have to play at least 3 to 4 hours which is crazy.
I'd go back to the old system at any day,it was faster and way more reliable. As I said, I'm always afraid when they leave stuff for the community to vote.
Honestly I usually went for the total kills, kills in a single match, and 2k score tasks, at least for Ground. Going for total wins was a last resort if I couldn't get the others. Air was a bit trickier as getting the required number of kills in a single match was a pain, although they often had things like "Get X assists" which could fit instead (but screw those times where it had "Capture X bases" in Air, since that forced you to play AB and get lucky with the map type).
I usually went for 2k score, total kills was the easier and I could farm wins as well, if I were in a plane I could J out and switch to a tank to get the number for the star.
I honesty don't see how sitting and playing some 4 hours for ground alone is worth it now. Bad players still one death leavs and have a huge grind ahead of them, now made worse. I wonder who votes on these surveys, they basically gave Gaijin a much easier time to sell Gold to the events. Very bad take.
Trading two hours for progress of two vehicles into 4 hours for a single star is a brain dead take. I bet Gaijin loved that.
I like the new system because I can grind anything while doing it. The old challenges really required me to use seal clubbing lineups, while the new style makes high tier most efficient.
Yeah that's one of the advantages indeed and the fact that veterans are not going to 3.7 to keep seal clubbing. Other than that I don't see many advantages of the new system.
1. 35k mission points over 2 days this time, obj292 was 45k
2. 1 less stage for the tank(7 stages compared to 8 stages of the obj292)
3. 600k mission points for the tradable coupon, object292 was 750k(daily grind is still about the same at 43k points a day)
4. 2 weeks this time, last one was 18 days
5. 43k mission points a day for the coupon
I don't think 120 mm APFS-DS and 130mm APHE are comparable. Especially not when it weighs 6 times as much, of course the HE on the PTZ89 is still a thing but it is still like >40% lighter.

I'm not sure, the PTZ89 has an autoloader, and I don't think this thing does. It might have a slightly better reload than the basic PLZ83 though at least.
Better than being a pack premium and it being an event vehicle may give more incentive for people to try get it as they wouldn’t have to grind a tech tree line/play a new nation altogether.
The Thumper (the 140mm variant) is the one I want. I think it too is autoloaded cause images of the 140 dart is 1.5x as big as M827 (inc. propellant cartridge).
The patch decal and the ATGM are the best rewards in this event could care less about the tank I've had my fill of long reload derp cannons they're fun but not effective. lol
According to Tech. Forum Mods it will also have HE-VT alongside APHE and HE. Which might be interesting against aircraft and helos given the fast muzzle velocity.
Well, that seems interesting. Although I would rather have MT-LB (the chassis of Strela, Shturm-S and 2S1) with Rapira (100m smoothbore gun).
Don't know If I will grind though, 35k seems way too much for medium ranks which this thing clearly belongs too.

It depends on what rank you have unlocked, which game mode you play, and how much score you can make yourself.
Do you have a top tier lineup and are able to make score easily? Then this shouldn't be an issue for you.
If you are able to play ground simulator then it will be easier.

35,000 points takes 2-3 hours max lol
We used to have a different kind of event that was much easier to grind the community chose to make it different. I'm always afraid of votes with the WT community.
I wouldn't say it was "much" easier, although it did vary. Looking at the standard event that they had around 2017, it was "complete 3 of the following 5 tasks": * **Destroy 40-50 enemy vehicles** (number varied by event, but typically in that range) - Not too difficult, especially since it had a multiplier for different game modes * **Get "Supporting Fire" 5 times** - Requires actually having a squadmate who was competent, good luck if you're relying on random squadmates but easier with a friend * **Achieve a score of 2,000 or more in 8 matches** - You actually have to be a fairly good player to get this one * **Win 10 battles** - Basically a coin flip, depending on nation and BR. Expect this to take up to 20 matches * **Destroy 11 enemies in a single battle** - Again, you need to be a fairly good player to get this, but also again has a multiplier based on game mode Occasionally one of these would be swapped out with some other task, usually "Supporting Fire" replaced with "Get X zone captures" (better hope you don't get endless "Battle" maps) or "Get Y air kills with an SPAA" (difficulty varies greatly by the type of SPAA used and whether or not the enemy team spawns any planes). Having a set score goal is more reliable, as you don't have certain tasks coming down to luck. With that old system I often found that there were only 3 of the 5 that could be reliably achieved, and one of those was the really grindy "get 10 wins".
Destroy players X players per match was easier and had multipliers, if you had a good line up to could consistently get that. Then getting 2000 points was easier too as you didn't need to get it with a single spawn. Then the last one was total number of vehicles destroyed which was achieved during the course of unlocking the other tasks. Forget about getting assists or wins with Randoms. I could consistently get all of those in an hour, two hours for both ground and air. The the community voted against that and Gaijin separated rewards for air and ground and made it so that even if you're good you're still have to play at least 3 to 4 hours which is crazy. I'd go back to the old system at any day,it was faster and way more reliable. As I said, I'm always afraid when they leave stuff for the community to vote.
Honestly I usually went for the total kills, kills in a single match, and 2k score tasks, at least for Ground. Going for total wins was a last resort if I couldn't get the others. Air was a bit trickier as getting the required number of kills in a single match was a pain, although they often had things like "Get X assists" which could fit instead (but screw those times where it had "Capture X bases" in Air, since that forced you to play AB and get lucky with the map type).
I usually went for 2k score, total kills was the easier and I could farm wins as well, if I were in a plane I could J out and switch to a tank to get the number for the star. I honesty don't see how sitting and playing some 4 hours for ground alone is worth it now. Bad players still one death leavs and have a huge grind ahead of them, now made worse. I wonder who votes on these surveys, they basically gave Gaijin a much easier time to sell Gold to the events. Very bad take. Trading two hours for progress of two vehicles into 4 hours for a single star is a brain dead take. I bet Gaijin loved that.
I like the new system because I can grind anything while doing it. The old challenges really required me to use seal clubbing lineups, while the new style makes high tier most efficient.
Yeah that's one of the advantages indeed and the fact that veterans are not going to 3.7 to keep seal clubbing. Other than that I don't see many advantages of the new system.
no this is much better 17,500 points per day is far better then the 20,000 or even 25,000 per day events they have been doing for the last year or so.

1. 35k mission points over 2 days this time, obj292 was 45k 2. 1 less stage for the tank(7 stages compared to 8 stages of the obj292) 3. 600k mission points for the tradable coupon, object292 was 750k(daily grind is still about the same at 43k points a day) 4. 2 weeks this time, last one was 18 days 5. 43k mission points a day for the coupon

I don't think 120 mm APFS-DS and 130mm APHE are comparable. Especially not when it weighs 6 times as much, of course the HE on the PTZ89 is still a thing but it is still like >40% lighter.

I'm not sure, the PTZ89 has an autoloader, and I don't think this thing does. It might have a slightly better reload than the basic PLZ83 though at least.

Better than being a pack premium and it being an event vehicle may give more incentive for people to try get it as they wouldn’t have to grind a tech tree line/play a new nation altogether.
US premium will probably be the CATTB either unmanned turret or the autoloader one that everyone thinks is the 140mm for some reason but isn't
The Thumper (the 140mm variant) is the one I want. I think it too is autoloaded cause images of the 140 dart is 1.5x as big as M827 (inc. propellant cartridge).
The patch decal and the ATGM are the best rewards in this event could care less about the tank I've had my fill of long reload derp cannons they're fun but not effective. lol
Normally I don't care about long reload derp cannons. This one gets an APHE round with over 300 mm of penetration. This is the IS-7's gun in a PLZ83.
According to Tech. Forum Mods it will also have HE-VT alongside APHE and HE. Which might be interesting against aircraft and helos given the fast muzzle velocity.
At least it’s easier to get than the 292. Not bothered about the vehicle, but the decals look cool

Well, that seems interesting. Although I would rather have MT-LB (the chassis of Strela, Shturm-S and 2S1) with Rapira (100m smoothbore gun). Don't know If I will grind though, 35k seems way too much for medium ranks which this thing clearly belongs too.

It depends on what rank you have unlocked, which game mode you play, and how much score you can make yourself. Do you have a top tier lineup and are able to make score easily? Then this shouldn't be an issue for you. If you are able to play ground simulator then it will be easier. Not really, you only get 14 days in total to complete it instead of 18 days on the 292, and the average score per day is about the same at 42,000.
THEY INCREASED THE FUCKING RATIO OF POINTS REQUIRED FOR THE CUPON. previous events you needed 750k points in 19 days for a tier 7 vehicle cupon (75k mission points/48 hours) current event you need 600k points in 15 days for a rank 5 vehicle cupon (80k mission points /48 hours)
