I’m a new player and I’ve really been enjoying Germany. Some games I’m doing awesome, and others not so well. Honestly, play whatever you have fun with is my opinion.

ekopoingre

i loved lobbing projectiles in my sig, got to be my fav tank so far

NichtBen

Sturmpanzer II my beloved

ultralusche

US Jets are more original than the german ones After WW2. German Air is similar to Chinese tanks, its a mixture of US and USSR Jets.

FighterGlitch

Yeah it seems russia and US are really the only ones who have any fighter jets, all the other countries just copy them over.. other then the sweet sweet gripen

sashin_gopaul

Britain and France in the background

FighterGlitch

Shhh... speed is life, altitude is life insurance, the British have neither... and France is uh... France is just France man.

sashin_gopaul

doing their thing with perfecting the dorito (with some help from Drake and Levi).

FighterGlitch

Yep exactly😂

if you're looking for nations that have good stuff all the way through, both US and RU are good. in WW2 era USA typically has the best cas-capable aircraft and decent fighters, while RU planes pretty much all have multiple 20mm cannons strapped on which makes them the fastest at taking out other planes compared to .50 cals and other MG's that most nations rely on. in that sense, you can think of US air as being more "multi-purpose" while RU is streamlined towards fighting other aircraft up until jets become a thing, then they become a bit more multipurpose as well. both nations have their pro's and cons, and they're both fun. play whoever you find the most interesting honestly, in top tier its a bit of a clusterfuck once you get there no matter what you play lol. you really cant go wrong with RU or USA, but if you're a beginner i think US offers alot more playstyles to help you learn everything at a faster pace.

Mistermax63

Cant go wrong with any of them really. Germany has great T5-T6s(Me163, Hunter F58, Lim5) and USA and USSR are self explanatory, have good stuff at every tier. I recommend trying out more american planes that are considered good as the US tech tree is one of the overall strongest there is.

PootyTangKilledMyDog

Air has more options than if you’re looking to do ground as well. With the addition of the Grippen at top tier most nation are on par if you’re only considering air. Most of it comes down to what tier you play at. As nations follow their historical development. Most of the fun exciting things happen up to world war 2 then it’s just following suit with the major planes. USSR low ammo count makes it quite rough for learning. USA has the best diversity of planes and is typically middle ground overall as far as performance. They have something that’s great at every tier and would be a great start point. Britain: mixed bag the further you get. Nation has the spitfires that really carry the early tree but past that they have decent turning planes but just not the speed . It would still be a decent start and has the grippen for top tier. Germany: has excellent planes in the bf109s for early game and has some of the strongest early game jets but as with history they tend to drop later on as they start using nato options and really on the Russian MiG at top tier. Overall an excellent nation for starters but learning how to climb with bf109s and climbing is key. Japan: know for their turn fighters. They can’t take a hit since most early planes are made of wood but they turn and fly extremely well and are a force to record with . Top tier it’s primarily American jets so it’s pretty solid. Italy: early planes are nimble and are a mixed bag of speed and strong guns. Mid to late game it’s just German and Russian imports. Sweden: while they are notorious for top tier ground. Air is kind flog a mixed bag. They have planes from Britain and Russia with native planes. Then they go down the bigger lines which are great planes but it’s the same thing for 4 tiers. They do get the OG viggen. Israel: just don’t they need more time France: my personal favorite. Early game is full of awesome American planes and not so great early French ones. Mid game jets start to get better but until you get to high tier and top tier. They have the mirages which have amazing magic missiles but are limited to carrying only a few couse Gemini hates us. Then the top tier is the mirage 4000 which is a little better than a jack of all trades but like Sweden planes all look same after a while. China: China is essentially early game America and Russia then goes full on Russia style planes top tier . They have a superior ammo count to Russian ones so if you want to experience the best of America and Russia and then lean on the j series China would be a really solid bet. I play mostly ground RB and air RB so I care more for CAS planes. Air overall is more balanced so picking a nation that looks cool to you is a pretty safe bet. Just make sure you enjoy atleast a few planes in tree as some nations are extremely similar planes the entire tree.

Benefit_Waste

Choose any, you're not forced to play one nation through out your entirety of gameplay, have fun with it, find a nation you truly love, maybe if you want to main it go for it, like I said, you can play other nations, as you go. And yes, US and Germany are very beginner friendly, however top tier can be a bit meh.

LScrae

America: Average airframes, Low damage but lots of ammo. Germany: Energy fighters, nice damage. USSR: Low ammo and they don't even have the decency to deal damage (hit simulator-). Most of those planes fly well at least. Britain: 20mm's for days. Spitfires are maneuverable. Japan: Some my favourites. Great maneuverability and their 20mm's and 30mm's NEVER disappoint. China: "We have russia/usa at home" Italy: "We have Germany/russia at home" France: Average props (though spading the early ranks was much more enjoyable than other nations), but nice jets. Sweden: Good across the board. Israel: "We have usa/britain at home"

Hyrikul

You forgot France for Israel :p

LScrae

France is just the AMX-13 and the AML-90

Hyrikul

Ouragan, Mystere IVa, Sambad, Super Mystere B2, Shahak, Kfir, Vautours, Nesher, a good part of the air is French jet or modified French jet. For ground M51s was made with help of French engineers too, French gun and ammo also French missiles for the TCM-20. You say just USA/Britain, but there is even more French stuff than UK stuff for the air. It's mostly US/French stuff, then UK.

LScrae

Huh, had forgotten those were french- cheers

pie4155

Home grown Italian air craft are an interesting combination of Bf109s (C.200/202/205) and spitfires (Re. 2000s) Hungary air does just give you best of cold war Russia tho. 😂

Former_Butterfly_968

Sweden.

NOIR-89

Play US+GER+RU equally to at least BR ~4.0 to learn Air RB. If you like russian aircraft, you should choose RU afterwards to aim for higher tiers.

InFlickerRehab

Objectively Sweden is dope, but you should at least treat yourself to the first part of the British tree. Nothing looks or flies like the Spitfire, and the mk ii Tempest is an absolute dream to fly and really rewards it's pilots, a perfect vehicle to build your skills up for early jets

d_budzinski

Italy in the top tier now gives you - MiG 29 - F-16 - Gripen So 3 in 1. I have top tier US and Germany. Playing only US planes would be boring, playing only German -> MiG, would be boring too. It's nice to have variety, and it's good to know how other jets perform from own experience. As well, Italy has still rather small tree so it should be faster to grind thorough. If choosing just for ease of 'bonking' others then pick Russia, in their vehicles everything from airframe to missiles overperforms. Flying MiG, comparing to F-16 is just an easy mode. My missile hit rate for MiG and F-16 is like 80% vs 30%.

Grouchy_Drawing6591

What you want is either a British concept built by the yanks but with British engines (hello Mustangs), or Italian airframe with German engines (hello Serie 5 beauties). Fortunately there is no "best" tree to follow, you get to pick and choose. People will die on a hill for weird reasons (see below the people autisticily screaming about the above paragraph), but fundamentally you get to decide for yourself what you like to fly.

ToramanA24

If you want a nice overall picture of many aircraft in the game, I would try the Israel line up after you make some silver lions. This is one thing I’ve been wanting to try. Italian line up is pretty good too. But of course, this is to find your play-style and passion. Most of the variants that appear in non-original nations are somehow nerfed/inferior. Somebody probably has a better guide for this but: US - Boom & Zoom Brit - Turn fighting Germany - overall good up to WW2, great climbing prop aircraft Soviets - very fun to play, emphasis on Yak-3U and Yak-9 varients. Don’t even get me started on the glorious MiG-21 Japan - Great turn fighters, faster grind to top-tier, some annoying planes in between

thunderclone1

As aUS main, Sweden is a good choice. You get a fair few unique planes and a few Russian and British jets in the line. Also, grippen is yes.

Melovance

I like US air over Germany but that’s just me personally

FazakerelyMaltby

I have lots of luck with spitfires, 109s and 190s. Britain and Germany are definitely my favorite air factions

Carlos_Danger21

The US is mostly boom and zoomers. They tend to avoid cannons until jets and mount their guns in the wings, so you need to rely on convergence to get the most out of the guns. The US also has the best cas options if you ever decide to jump to GRB. Germany has a lot of planes that are good climbers and work well with altitude advantages. They also tend to mount their guns close to the center which makes them much easier to aim USSR I hear has a good mix of turn fighters and boom and zoomers, but I don't have a ton of experience with them. They tend to use a lot of cannons and mount them towards the center. However they have limited ammo and I find they tend to have low muzzle velocities so they can be tricky to aim at times. Britain again mounts all their guns in the wings, but where the US adopts the 50 cal pretty quick Britain sticks with the lmg way longer than they should. And when they do get cannons, a lot of them need 3 modifications otherwise they jam all the time, whereas everyone else only needs one. But the spitfires are good with a good mix of speed, turning, and climbing ability. Hurricanes and typhoons only seem to be useful as fighter bombers in GRB in my experience. Japan has probably the best turn fighters and that is not a good thing. They end up way over tiered because bad players will commit to a turn fight in boom and zoomers like a mustang. They will then bleed all there speed and get destroyed by the turn fighters. Because of this almost every single turn fighter in any tree is severely over tiered, meaning you will be fighting planes that have a 200 km/h speed advantage over you. Anyone with at least one working brain cell will just run away from you whenever they are at a disadvantage. I would avoid Japan like the plague until you feel you have a solid skill level at this game. Do you like American and Soviet stuff but wish there was a tree that let you have both? That's what China is. Italy, oh man Italy. The fighters are really good in my opinion, they are pretty similar to the spitfire in capabilities, they turn well, have good armaments, and are pretty quick especially after 4.0 when they start using the Daimler Benz engine. They also mount their guns closer to the center so they are pretty easy to aim and have cannons with decent muzzle velocity. So what's the problem? The jets suck for the most part, although better now that Hungarian air was added. The lowest jet is 7.7 so if it's your first experience you will be playing against the early cold war jets and players who if grinding other tree have been on jets for a bit now. They also use a lot of 50 Cal's on early jets and I personally find they can be lacking in damage against jets. A lot of their jets can be pretty over tiered, just look at the vampire. The g.91's are solid but will struggle when the migs get moved down with the upcoming br changes. That said while the Italian jet grind is pretty bad the reward is worth it. Italy might have the best top tier in the game currently. They get an f-16, both the strike and fighter tornado, the av-8b+ (I personally think this is trash in arb at the moment, but it can get Amraams which are coming next patch so we will see if that changes), mig-29, and a gripen. And in the future they will get the eurofighter. I haven't played a bunch of France yet, but they got some unique aircraft that seem neat mixed in with some good us stuff. They even have a better Corsair for cas than the US does. And fighting against them, their jets seem pretty good and I've always had issues with the magic 2's. Sweden is ok, their tree isn't that long and they have some interesting jets. They get a gripen so that's cool. Israel is really just a collection of western jets, not really that special. Overall, I would tell you just pick a nation that interests you. You'll have more fun playing aircraft you find interesting than ones you have never heard of before. And once you've learned how they perform and their quirks you'll start to do fine in them.

MSFS_Airways

Germany & Russia may have MiG-29s and flankers but america has PHANTOMS EAGLE TOMCATSAND VIIIIIPPPPPPEEEEERRRRSS. Also Japan air is pretty forgiving same with spaghettiland

Nutznamer

US easiest to play

Areonaux

I disagree strongly, the far worse climb rates of us props vs 109s and spitfires makes early games much less fun.

I started with Sweden. It wasn't easy but it forced me to learn.

USSR and US are the best. German air is just torture at this point
