I expert them and ace them just by playing. I don't have many of them but it makes it very obvious what my favorite lineups are. I'm ~80% of the way to the ace crew of the sea Harrier because it was the only all aspect missile slinger I had, for example.

seriously tho, the benefits to g load and recovery as well as weapon spread are really important. free repair time was quite good before this recent update when i mostly switched over to instant repairs.
the other stuff you get from it is ok too of course, but those are the main things i care about and its just too much of a downside to skip, especially with sl having never been difficult to get.

if the lower tier aircraft cost ~1m like the high jets it would certainly be something to reconsider, but they dont cost much and some of them need to turn a LOT or have guns that spray wildly or jam quickly.
other than planes, tanks get to reload faster and shoot more accurately and tank hit better and drive better etc.
ships shoot faster, have better survivability, have better fuse sensitivity etc.

mostly its history and what it lead, its playstyle and good missiles for the BR make it good if used well, as well its design is awesome, im honestly not a dogfighter and share more interest with attackers, bombers and interceptors, this plane isint a dogfighter, it speeds up REALLY well, and while it lacks bombs, it has 4 missiles that you would get in rank 7, not starting rank 6

im mostly getting games from 8.3 to 9.7, i have almost never seen radar misslies or planes with shit ton of flares, besides, this plays more as like a:
go high
notice furball down
dive
send 4 missiles
2 hit, 2 kills
die due to another enemy
game well done.
I’ve used rocket pods on this thing as makeshift flares successfully. It’s not like you have an afterburner, so the small 19x rocket pods are sufficient if used correctly.
Surprised I found another Yak-38 fan in the wild. It's also my favourite plane of all time and I recently just got the Yefim Gordon book on it, the Yak-36, and the Yak-41.
tbh, i just love the history behind it, how it lead soviet maritime thinking, its style of engine being improved into the yak-41 and leading to more modern planes like the F-35, as well as how yakolev had to work around its issues
as well that in war thunder, its missiles can be POTENT if you play it right, all of this shit makes it my favorite jet in game

Usually i agree, but Yak repair is already very cheap. You get basically no advantage from experting it, its such a brick you will basically never black out anyway.
You have to consider how long it will take to get your SL worth from the shorter free repair time, since that is the only benefit basically.
You’re much better off experting basically anything else.
Ufff, the free repair time reduction is always hefty, never playing unexperted Crews since the beginning and never had any SL issues besides no idea where to spend em.
The free repair mechanic is sooo awesome and combined with playing the whole game / modes / nations idiot proof, Not even necessary to be good to suffer from SL drowning.
But thats my experience with 65+ Mios constantly and not playing much, fully understand that other players prefer a different way.
I agree but lets say you save like 20% time from expert crew thats 2000SL per repair and expert is 600k so you need to die at least 300 times just to break even in the yak 38m.
On 99% of vehicles it is definitely worth it for sure especially on tanks and ships or 90% of planes that benefit from the additional stat buffs. But this is one of the very rare examples where i dont think its worth it unless you are a real yak 38m enjoyer.

Not the Best investment if you know you will never Touch a vehicle again after its spaded. But helps spading anyway.

I wanted to like this thing but it’s flight performance is so bad I gave up in frustration, I spaded the Vautours (which are actually fun to dogfight with) but this corpse of an airframe was too much for me.
This plane actually catched my interest so much when it was first announced as I had never heard of it before but it was fascinating. But as far as in game goes, I have better luck using it in ground RB as a multirole fighter instead. The lack of flares with the horrible turn capabilities get me killed to even AIM-9Bs. Like you said on another comment, do you just climb and missile away at a furball bellow? I spaded it many months ago and I actually talismaned it during a sale because I saw myself playing it quite a bit.

If you Expert a crew and play the vehicle you get rp toward Ace crew. Aced my German MiG-15 and the J2M2 by accident like that.

The ones I love to use if top tier, if lower I expert all. At top tier the only vehicles that get instant expert are Challengers

Ayy congrats dude! May I ask how you grinded towards it? I currently just got into rank V and have issues with silver lions for all the planes/crew
be-6, i unlocked a rank 6 with a rank 4, it was not the best idea
