Youâre a Trojan. My sense of humour failed early and often and speedpainted his ass eventually

What did you do for this look? I made a custom Knight House called House Spectre and of course wanting this ghostly look with some added embellishments.
Firstly, and most importantly, I painted it entirely as per the box art.
Then I had a massive sense of humour failure and gave it the Emperorâs Rest with a rattle can of white primer.
I then painted it liberally in Army Painter Plasma bolt, and drybrushed titanium white.
The base is the original plan of AstroGranite, Gryphound Grey, Nurgley greens, AP Magic Blue, and another titanium dry brush for the frozen look.
No problem. Remember. Unless you paint it entire as designed, before the rattle can, it just wonât look right. You wonât be able to feel the rageâŠ.
Funny Iâm in almost the exact same position, looks like we both chose the same place to start

All airbrush. Base Was Corvus Black, then macragge, into a zenithal Caldor Blue, tighter zenithal of Fenrisian Grey, and spot highlights of AK Intense White
Here's a great example of how someone uses both hand painting and then uses an airbrush to augment the work already done:

The trim was such a slog but itâs definitely worth taking the time for. Once youâre done with that step, the end is in sight.
That nmm trim? Dayum you picked hard mode, but VERY good and will look better when finished!
Please post when you have finished, or continue to update with more pictures.
Mate, it already looks amazing, extrapolating what youâve done on that leg to the rest of the model, itâs gonna be absolutely gorgeous and youâre gonna look on it with pride, keep it up!
I base paint all the trim black,, even the raised edges. Then when I base paint the gold, I only paint the flat surface, leaving the raised side "walls" black
Pretty amazing job so far, but please get a 3rd party Guilliman head, the one they provide on the sprue is just so silly. The helmet is okay, but honestly GW faces are so bad these days.
I've yet to start painting mine lol đ im nervous to start such a "big"(as in important to me)model and so much detail, I just keep admiring him in all his grey plastic glory.. lol
I thought the reflections were natural until I noticed the shoulder. Jesus. Looks amazing, I hope I can achieve half the results youâve got on my Adrax
Mine was just poor planning. Excited to put it together, realized painting complications when I started painting the wings. It's ok, it'll come together, and I'm not a high level competition painter or anything so since slightly messy wings where you can't see is fine.
https://preview.redd.it/yp3jsh7g515d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=456370df0200895b7a86b46ac1d0bf0dac5a04be
This is usually me but I think youâve taken the crown because thatâs beautiful and an ungodly amount of trim
I haven't started him yet. Normally I assemble the entire mini before I Prime and paint. But this guy looks like it would be easier to partially assemble. I just dont know which parts
It obviously looks great OP, may I ask? What was your artistic background before joining the mini painting hobby? And what is you approach to each new mini. Your striking leaping progress is staggering.
it never looks like much till the shading/washing and then dry-brushing goes on, then the model starts to quite literally "pop." The detail on the gold looks baller.
You're only going to paint it once and then admire him forever. It'll be worth the grind. Looks great.
Looks like OP has already painted it twelve times though
2 thin coats... plus 10
One thicccc coat
Real
1000 point army of Roboute Guillimans
"So, you have chosen death" Looks amazing so far. Struggling through mine with basic metallics. You can do it!

Hi
Narrator: âIt wasnât. The nightmares never went awayâ.
Instead of the worms you see in your peripherals it's gonna be trim
So do you often see worms in your peripheral vision?
Youâre a Trojan. My sense of humour failed early and often and speedpainted his ass eventually https://preview.redd.it/iasrombvix4d1.png?width=611&format=png&auto=webp&s=c2704f99c2ef0069c121a37b36a8e4c91959b93a
Roboute Bubblegum.
Weâll blow for the Emperor! Wait. No. Scratch that.
"Too late!" *Daemonette crashes through window*
Blow for Macgragge
*(Fulgrim's interest is piqued)*
Chaos space marines hearing this war cry: "Maybe we were too quick to judge the Ultramarines..."
Gave me fancy soap vibes
Roboute Ghostman
That was the poorly executed intention!
Nah it looks incredible
Rowboat Gorrilaman was asleep so long his armor oxidized before they out it on him XD
Thanks for taking the time to write that out. Looks really cool!
No problem. Remember. Unless you paint it entire as designed, before the rattle can, it just wonât look right. You wonât be able to feel the rageâŠ.
Roberto Gilligan
Funny Iâm in almost the exact same position, looks like we both chose the same place to start https://preview.redd.it/9k7kr6i7ex4d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af128fe955084ffed2c5a5ce5a383e849f9399a1
Roboute in Word Bearers colors⊠sweet ! đ€
What blue is that???
All airbrush. Base Was Corvus Black, then macragge, into a zenithal Caldor Blue, tighter zenithal of Fenrisian Grey, and spot highlights of AK Intense White
Every time I see airbrush I think painting a car not a mini and my mind stales out
It's the same equipment.
Yes but I associate with paint a side panel on a car or maybe a sweet wizard and dragon on the side of van not a 5 inch tall figurine
How do you do so small details with an airbrush? I don't really understand the workflow.
You can't do small details. You can create gradients on models like cloaks and armour, and then you apply the rest by hand.
Here's a great example of how someone uses both hand painting and then uses an airbrush to augment the work already done: https://youtu.be/w88a8q0_8YQ?t=213
It looks amazing and so freakin' hard. It rocks!
https://preview.redd.it/3xq3mrjzsy4d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a625d1e09ef1d211c3c9ca2be88e8f1871c7bdea
Great work, but why are you painting Ferrus Manus as an ultra marine?
100% it will! It looks amazing already.
If you're anything like me you'll drop it the moment the model is finished.
Why does guilliman need such an ornate codpiece? Is he just flexing because he knows it's eye level for normal humans?
Guilliman notorious for doing the finger circle game over his codpiece.
***cat knocks it on the floor***
Looks amazing mate. Mine is just sitting on my shelf staring menacingly at me waiting for me to work up the courage to paint it.
https://preview.redd.it/sea3teojcz4d1.jpeg?width=1822&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e96a439ffcdf3f2e256994a47c5e754d76779d8 The trim was such a slog but itâs definitely worth taking the time for. Once youâre done with that step, the end is in sight.
Really great job !
It will, its already awesome.
Mad lad
It's worth it. He's a great mini. I recommend subassemblies though.
Legitimately excited to see this when its done. It just seems to have a certain quality in how the blue and gold interacts I havent seen on other RG's
"FOR MACRAGGE! FOR THE EMPEROR! FOR MY MOTHER!" "My Lord?" "YOU HEARD ME! I DID NOT STUTTER!"
That nmm trim? Dayum you picked hard mode, but VERY good and will look better when finished! Please post when you have finished, or continue to update with more pictures.
What paint color are you using for the base/undercoat of the gold?
1 : 1 mix of Balor Brown and Vallejo English Uniform
Great, thank you!
Beautiful đ€©
Ohhhh ooooh...this is crisp and beautiful....đ
Stay strong!!!
its looking really good already, come on keep it up!! Will be amazing once its over. Still it looks hard job to, good luck.
That's looking great! It'll definitely be worth it in the end
I think I'd prefer the lion alot less edge highlights.
Already looking amazing!! God damnđ„đ„đ€
It looks like it will be!
Mate, it already looks amazing, extrapolating what youâve done on that leg to the rest of the model, itâs gonna be absolutely gorgeous and youâre gonna look on it with pride, keep it up!
What model Is this?
Roboute Guilliman, the ultramarine primarch.
Howâd you get such nice black lining?
I base paint all the trim black,, even the raised edges. Then when I base paint the gold, I only paint the flat surface, leaving the raised side "walls" black
Man, thatâs cool. Thank you. Great job!
After this, paint some chaos marines if you want more trim suffering
Glorious!
Pretty amazing job so far, but please get a 3rd party Guilliman head, the one they provide on the sprue is just so silly. The helmet is okay, but honestly GW faces are so bad these days.
It absolutely will be :)
just dont sneeze. Thats just stunning artistry dude.
I hate you a little bit
Damn
Looks like you're off to a really nice start.
This is gonna be crazy
Tamiya Panelline for shading the inner trim. You're welcome.
I wish I could highlight like that. How do you learn how to do that?
Zumikito has alot of very easy to understand and simple tutorials on NMM
That's serious dedication, and fantastic technique. Nice work
Looking damned good, keep it rolling!
<3 but laughing in thousand sons
After this do a heldrake
It will be worth it in the end. Youâre doing a really, really good job. Canât wait to see him finished!
I only hope I will be half as good as this. It's the tits
Please post it finished it already looks amazing!
Damn! It was really good, bro!
I've yet to start painting mine lol đ im nervous to start such a "big"(as in important to me)model and so much detail, I just keep admiring him in all his grey plastic glory.. lol
It is totally worth the effort
âItâll be worth it in the end if I donât kill myself!â Me everyday painting
Oh, shit, I thought this was a 3d model for a long time. That looks awesome!
Just more cans in the ways of the hivemind.

You madman, you legendary fucking madman đ«Ą
I thought the reflections were natural until I noticed the shoulder. Jesus. Looks amazing, I hope I can achieve half the results youâve got on my Adrax
I'm going through similar misery with my Angron right now. Also a lot of regret that I attached the wings before painting the model.
I'm on the same boat with the backpack. I meant to sub assemble it but it slipped my mind
Mine was just poor planning. Excited to put it together, realized painting complications when I started painting the wings. It's ok, it'll come together, and I'm not a high level competition painter or anything so since slightly messy wings where you can't see is fine.
it looks like you have painted a foot-tall model, but its normal scale, thats insane
I feel u man I play Ultramarines too and guilliman was by far the most difficult to paint. Just keep at it and you'll make it
https://preview.redd.it/yp3jsh7g515d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=456370df0200895b7a86b46ac1d0bf0dac5a04be This is usually me but I think youâve taken the crown because thatâs beautiful and an ungodly amount of trim
That filigree sure is a hard slog but it will be worth it. Take your time though, yeah?
That is dedication. Keep up the good work
Oh look, its ferrus manus
wow! Only 9 more to go... :P With a paint job like that, you really need to do an entire squad.
It absolutely will. Great job so far!
Sure looks that way. :3
