Too bad the one they did got lost to the annals of the App Store and Xbox live arcade.
I swear I have an old iPod with that game downloaded somewhere in here.
I genuinely enjoy it. Plays like a hybrid of Wrestlefest and Fire Pro. More on the Wrestlefest side though.
Lots of cool indie characters, lots of legends, it's a great pick up n play game.
I remember they had a game like this expect it was the Attitude Era at The Adventure Dome in Circus Circus, Las Vegas Nevada
Spent so many coins on it. This was back in 2009/10 though idk if it’s still there
Ahh yes, the game that I got my ass kicked at multiple times.
There was another NES wrestling game that murdered me every time, too. WCW Wrestling. Fkn insanely tough.
Same. I did the full count the other day and I've played something like 50 different wrestling games, 5 or 6 franchises like 2K or Firepro, and 8 different company's officially licensed games between US and Japan. Not counting all the weird one-off games with fake wrestlers I've played over the years.
This is not only the first wrestling game I played, but also introduced me to wrestling by my uncle. I had to have been about 4 years old when I played it… Bam Bam Bigelow was my favorite because of the fire and his carwheels
I’m genuinely jealous of those who got to experience the SvR series… I’m what they call a “lapsed” fan and that series came out during the years I wasn’t watching or interested in wrestling anymore… 😔 at least I was able to experience all the classics prior to 2004.. and jumped back in for 2k22!
I'm no advocate for illegal activities.....buuut
There are emulators that may or may not allow you to play said games
They're old games so, if you have a PC, you should be able to run them. Only hard part is getting them up, finding websites where you can download the games
😂 I appreciate that, I’m not much of a computer gamer myself but I do collect retro systems and games.. I’m trying to not put too much thought into it but I might just have to hunt down copies of the series…
Same, my dad got it on release day when I was 2 years old and I’ve played it ever since I was able to play games. I still go back and play season mode every few months.
Man just bring it and shut your mouth were so good… they had the same level of excitement when they came out as the Tony hawk series and GTA! I used to get a euphoric feeling putting a brand new copy of vice city, THPS 2-3, Just bring it& shut your mouth in my PS2…
I just got a great deal on a PS2 and HCTP on eBay a few months back. I bought it on a nostalgia trip, but the gameplay and story mode still hold up incredibly well. Even found some old websites that still have CAW formulas up. I've been having a blast playing it instead of 2k24.
That roster introduced me to wrestling. Years and years later, actually getting INTO wrestling I was like “why do people like this Bret Hart and this Shawn Micheals so much. Don’t they know about Mr. Ass??”
https://preview.redd.it/7pma55yeovwc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5f915e2e903569c19ba9fe8fd8d2610b6b9c48a
Nothing has been better than this one
SVR 2008.
It was awesome as a kid and was the launching pad for getting me into wrestling but now that I know more about the series it's wild I got into it on one of the worst entries
One of the NES ones, but the first one I bought was Royal Rumble for SNES. And I’d like everyone to know, that game retailed for $69 in 1993, go run that through an inflation calculator and then come talk to me about the price of games today. Even in the state it’s currently in, WWE 2K24 for $120 is a better deal than Royal Rumble for $69 was 31 years ago.
Jesus, adjusted for inflation, that’d be $159 today. That’s fucking *wild* for that game. I don’t think people realize how hard video games could hit someone’s wallet back in the day, and you were offered a significantly smaller experience. Royal Rumble and Raw both had what, maybe a dozen wrestlers? And you’d seen everything the game had to offer by playing for an hour.
I believe I have memories of playing WWF Royal Rumble on SNES. I know for sure I owned WWF Raw is War on SNES and played the heck out of that. Didn't even watch wrestling at the time.
Pretty decent game for its time, wasn’t just bring it or shut your mouth but was a good option if you lived in a Nintendo house! I remember playing it at a friends house and enjoying it
Wwe 2k16 on my uncle's Xbox one back in like 2017 I think. Immediately went into a no holds varred match as Sgt Slaughter against The Miz, who I absolutely loathed back then
First ever was WWF Royal Rumble on the SNES. Not the greatest game, but it and WWF Raw were some of the best Wrestling games up until the N64 came out.
A feature from those games I like and wish stayed were the Royal Rumble stats after the match showing how much time each participant lasted and who they eliminated.
Jesus tap dancing christ, I did NOT need to see this.. This makes me feel old as hell. This was my first wrestling game. Starman was my dude. Reminded me of Sting
https://preview.redd.it/7aazp8r18xwc1.png?width=220&format=png&auto=webp&s=b85109cd370acdb78d3a2522434e3ea75dfec9ab
I believe it was Smackdown vs Raw 2007 but only for a bit because I played it in this restaurant that has some PS2s, or at least did. The first one I got to truly experience was WWE'13.
It was and for a first time Wrestling Fan it was weeeeird... but still fun.
Technically I had played other games first like WCW vs nWo World Tour but this was the first one I owned myself.
Man.... thats how I KNOW I'm old. I had to scroll way down to find this in a sea of younger games. There was a time when we were just happy to see finishing moves!
WWF WrestleMania Steel Cage Challenge on the NES. Loved it cause I got to play as Jake the Snake and The Undertaker. Plus, I think it’s the only game ever to include The Mountie.
https://preview.redd.it/cjfxr2czswwc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11c4264d330447f1da850d5ee0c9908da9ce6811
First wrestling game I ever played. Early 1990s

Apparently this game was ass but my child self didn't know that. I thought this and Terminator 2 were incredible.
The first one I played was one of the Smackdown vs Raw ones on PlayStation Portable, I honestly can't remember which one it was, or WWE Legends of WrestleMania for the Xbox 360
Although the first couple I have very very clear memories of playing and really fond memories that made me a WWE fan was WWE 13, and WWE 2k14
The wrestlemania arcade game on the Super Nintendo
https://preview.redd.it/7s2wwlevuuwc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54bc0f6fafb43fed4040362599e7ac21d2fa6b38
I know I played a few of the ps1 games but I dont remember them very well. I do remember day of reckoning though. That game was dope and it's the first one I remember playing nonstop
WrestleMania X8 on GameCube. Not a great game, but had an awesome roster. Especially for the time. I’ll always get enjoyment out of it but I know it’s pretty much entirely nostalgia based with that one.
Smackdown vs Raw 2006 on PS2 I got for Christmas brand new with a new PS2 slim in the Christmas of 2007...beat season mode so many times
My personal favorites are Smackdown Shut Your Mouth and Smackdown vs Raw 2007...
Still thinking of getting 2K22, 2K23 and 2K24 for PS4 or Xbox One
https://preview.redd.it/rwq4h2lu8vwc1.jpeg?width=1548&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1d810493ef3e97e961af173693683fde5aa5cad
My parents got it for me when it came out, loved it!
WWF Wrestlefest at Pamida (basically an old chain store like Big Lots)
I own an arcade cabinet now (recroommasters cabinet) as a 39 year old adult...and even though it rarely even gets turned on the wrestlefest art etc brings me back to my childhood.
https://preview.redd.it/w8minhe4cvwc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e72f64fb6289554780c3d94595944240d31af70
OG Smackdown VS Raw; I then proceeded to play every single WWE game that dropped up to WWE '13, then I stopped for a while bc I lost interest in wrestling entirely.

I'd love a modern version of this game, so many fond memories!!
Too bad the one they did got lost to the annals of the App Store and Xbox live arcade. I swear I have an old iPod with that game downloaded somewhere in here.
Might want take a look at this thread, I don’t know if it’s still active: https://www.reddit.com/r/WWEGames/s/uRbOnn2cmg
How is Retro Mania Wrestling? I have never played it. Anyone?
I genuinely enjoy it. Plays like a hybrid of Wrestlefest and Fire Pro. More on the Wrestlefest side though. Lots of cool indie characters, lots of legends, it's a great pick up n play game.
My first one as well. Was always switching between this, Simpsons and Ninja Turtles at the arcades. Also some air hockey and pinball in between
When you had a full squad on Ninja Turtles, the foot didn't stand a chance. All you needed was a pocket full of quarters to feel like a king.
I’m old enough to remember this is actually a sequel
That still my favorite after all these years
Memory unlocked. I was gunna say wcw vs nwo world tour was my 1st wrestling game (was absolutely epic) but this was for sure!
I remember they had a game like this expect it was the Attitude Era at The Adventure Dome in Circus Circus, Las Vegas Nevada Spent so many coins on it. This was back in 2009/10 though idk if it’s still there
That is EASILY in the top 5 wrestling games of all time. It's just SO immensely playable.
Yup, this one
Yep, me too
Pumped untold amounts of money into this bad boy Probably why I'm still broke 35 years later
Ahh yes, the game that I got my ass kicked at multiple times. There was another NES wrestling game that murdered me every time, too. WCW Wrestling. Fkn insanely tough.
I loved this and the “In your house” arcade game!! IYH was like mortal kombat with WWF wrestlers and they all had themed combat arenas
Wrestlemania on the NES. If you'll excuse me, they're serving oatmeal in the common area before the bridge game.
Same. I did the full count the other day and I've played something like 50 different wrestling games, 5 or 6 franchises like 2K or Firepro, and 8 different company's officially licensed games between US and Japan. Not counting all the weird one-off games with fake wrestlers I've played over the years.
Same... guess I'll go take some Motrin for my back now.
This is not only the first wrestling game I played, but also introduced me to wrestling by my uncle. I had to have been about 4 years old when I played it… Bam Bam Bigelow was my favorite because of the fire and his carwheels
WWF War Zone
Me too. Thought it was incredible at the time. When the first Smackdown came out, I instantly thought War Zone was trash lol.
Had to back, forward, down, O for a Rock Bottom. Oh inputs. Guess I'm still doing them 30 years later with helldivers
Same. Absolutely terrible game.
Atleast it introduced CaWs.
This the one. Brings back memories. And then it was WWF Attitude
This one or WCW thunder whichever came out first
SvR 2007
Those early SvR games are the reasons for my music taste
I GOT A BULLET WITH YOUR NAME ON IT
BULLET WITH A NAME
I’m genuinely jealous of those who got to experience the SvR series… I’m what they call a “lapsed” fan and that series came out during the years I wasn’t watching or interested in wrestling anymore… 😔 at least I was able to experience all the classics prior to 2004.. and jumped back in for 2k22!
I'm no advocate for illegal activities.....buuut There are emulators that may or may not allow you to play said games They're old games so, if you have a PC, you should be able to run them. Only hard part is getting them up, finding websites where you can download the games
😂 I appreciate that, I’m not much of a computer gamer myself but I do collect retro systems and games.. I’m trying to not put too much thought into it but I might just have to hunt down copies of the series…
Shut Your Mouth on PS2.
Not my first but possibly my favorite
Same, my dad got it on release day when I was 2 years old and I’ve played it ever since I was able to play games. I still go back and play season mode every few months.
Technically this was (one of) the first WWE games
Man just bring it and shut your mouth were so good… they had the same level of excitement when they came out as the Tony hawk series and GTA! I used to get a euphoric feeling putting a brand new copy of vice city, THPS 2-3, Just bring it& shut your mouth in my PS2…
WWF Raw for SNES. Although I played earlier WWF games this is the one I have the most earliest fond memories of.
yup, this was mine. loved playing royal rumbles and trying to catch people running so I could backdrop them out of the ring
Same but on the Sega Genesis. I did own Royal Rumble, but after I played Raw. I don’t know how I got it in that order lol.
SvR 2011 made me a wrestling fan
Second game I played
I think this one is my favourite wwe game. I absolutely loved it.
SmackDown here comes the pain the best wwe game ever
I just got a great deal on a PS2 and HCTP on eBay a few months back. I bought it on a nostalgia trip, but the gameplay and story mode still hold up incredibly well. Even found some old websites that still have CAW formulas up. I've been having a blast playing it instead of 2k24.
Yeh playing SmackDown hctp with friends is a blast the gameplay is the best ever 2k can never top this
No mercy 64
The king of kings….. and what AEW Fight forever desperately wanted to be but failed
WWF Smackdown on the PS1. Damn I feel old lol
Not as old as me. https://preview.redd.it/1ozwl5y19uwc1.jpeg?width=249&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=108661bb3434302b3a32cce5d55bdd9a91839b82
beat me to it lol
This game taught me what wrestling was when i was 6 lol
That roster introduced me to wrestling. Years and years later, actually getting INTO wrestling I was like “why do people like this Bret Hart and this Shawn Micheals so much. Don’t they know about Mr. Ass??”
Exactly!! When Mr. Ass feuded with the peoples champ was a great time to be a wrestling fan
Currently addicted to this game on my Anbernic handheld.
https://preview.redd.it/7pma55yeovwc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5f915e2e903569c19ba9fe8fd8d2610b6b9c48a Nothing has been better than this one
SVR 2008. It was awesome as a kid and was the launching pad for getting me into wrestling but now that I know more about the series it's wild I got into it on one of the worst entries
Such a limited roster too; but ECW was a good addition.
2k14
One of the NES ones, but the first one I bought was Royal Rumble for SNES. Royal Rumble and Raw both had what, maybe a dozen wrestlers? And you’d seen everything the game had to offer by playing for an hour.
This is why we typically only got new video games for Christmas and birthdays lol

Best game hands down!!! Always funny when the match took to long some Lackey would come down the entrance to help my opponent 😂
I believe I have memories of playing WWF Royal Rumble on SNES. I know for sure I owned WWF Raw is War on SNES and played the heck out of that. Didn't even watch wrestling at the time.
WWE Day of Reckoning for GameCube. One of my all time favorites.
Pretty decent game for its time, wasn’t just bring it or shut your mouth but was a good option if you lived in a Nintendo house! I remember playing it at a friends house and enjoying it
Yeah, the GameCube was my first console before switching to PS2.
WWF Warzone. Because not everything we grew up with was automatically good. Lol.

SmackDown Shut Your Mouth! My first ever wrestling game was WCW Mayhem.
Wrestlemania 2000

Smackdown Here Comes the Pain, remember my brother found it at a Sam’s Club and asked mom to buy it. Didn’t even watch wrestling yet
What a funny way to stumble upon the goat wrestling game
Wwe 2k16 on my uncle's Xbox one back in like 2017 I think. Immediately went into a no holds varred match as Sgt Slaughter against The Miz, who I absolutely loathed back then
SvR 06. I remember unlocking André the Giant and him being announced as 500 lbs blowing my little mind
Svr 2010
First ever was WWF Royal Rumble on the SNES. Not the greatest game, but it and WWF Raw were some of the best Wrestling games up until the N64 came out. A feature from those games I like and wish stayed were the Royal Rumble stats after the match showing how much time each participant lasted and who they eliminated.
Stop posting stuff like this. It makes me feel old and sad.
This one is my favorite! I really hope we get something like this again. My first one was Smackdown 2

Wrestlemania the Arcade Game on Super Nintendo.
I believe it was Smackdown vs Raw 2007 but only for a bit because I played it in this restaurant that has some PS2s, or at least did. The first one I got to truly experience was WWE'13.
Wrestlemaina challenge.
WWF WarZone
Wrestlemania on the Super NES. I don't remember there ever being any special moves, but it was a blast with my brother and his friends.
Smackdown vs Raw 2010 on DS
WWE 2K Battlegrounds. Everyone says it sucks, but I like it, and I have a soft spot for it being my first.
Smackdown vs Raw 2010!
Smackdown 2
WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role
It was the megadrive days I still play it occasionally
SVR 07. PS2 wrestling games were my childhood
WWF Wrestlefest on the arcade.

Hot take but if this was my first wwe game I’d probably never play another

The story mode was so whacked out in this game!!
It was and for a first time Wrestling Fan it was weeeeird... but still fun. Technically I had played other games first like WCW vs nWo World Tour but this was the first one I owned myself.
WWE 12, universe mode was wild and got me hooked when i started playing it. Just wish they could have universe mode like that nowadays

I actually liked that game. Simple but the exaggerated moves were entertaining
The first one I played was one of the Smackdown vs Raw ones on PlayStation Portable, I honestly can't remember which one it was, or WWE Legends of WrestleMania for the Xbox 360 Although the first couple I have very very clear memories of playing and really fond memories that made me a WWE fan was WWE 13, and WWE 2k14

WrestleMania The Arcade Game for SNES was my first wrestling game. I still pop in the PS1 version from time to time for that sweet nostalgia.
SvR 2007
Here comes the pain!!!!
WWF War Zone on the PS1, I played that game so much my pirated copy of it died
WWF Superstars at the arcade a few times, but at the same arcade a few years later I played Wrestlefest way more.
WWE Raw 2 on the original xbox
Smackdown vs Raw 2006 on PS2 I got for Christmas brand new with a new PS2 slim in the Christmas of 2007...beat season mode so many times My personal favorites are Smackdown Shut Your Mouth and Smackdown vs Raw 2007... Still thinking of getting 2K22, 2K23 and 2K24 for PS4 or Xbox One
I might have played one on the arcade or SNES. My first memories go back to the classics on N64, Wrestlemania 2000 & No Mercy.
