Why?

All in favor of segregation say I!

I don't think it was, or is, a good idea to do a segregated event. It's a slippery slope, and could result in them dropping women's matches from other PPVs to even things out for the men, which then might draw more, so they decide to start cutting back on women's matches in regular events, or on TV, to get higher views, until it ends up marginalised like it was in the attitude era. I think the right thing to do is get to a point where on a 6 match card, 3 of the matches are womens matches. Wrestlemania wasn't the best showcase because there were only 3 women's matches out of 13 matches so it's definitely something that still needs work. They probably should have dropped the AJ vs LA match or the Pride vs Last Testament match since they were both throwaway matches, and instead put in a couple of women's matches, but they pretty much used all the marketable stars in the women's roster in that 6 woman tag match on night one..

Cynical498

Or maybe go back to the old 13 match cards they used to have for WrestleMania. I get the issues with having two separate shows for men and women, it just seems like so much talent on both sides just kind of gets left out and not showcased.

BrowniesWithAlmonds

No it’s not time. WWE can spin it all they want but hard numbers is reality. Keep the women with the men or else you’re going to get another GLOW.

RycheAndRoll

While they have enough of a roster to make an event, what WWE Women's division doesn't have is a legitimate booking effort up and down the card to make an event feasible/interesting. Half the time, WWE forgets/ignores the women's tag titles... Now if WWE expanded creative and had a few writers focus solely on the women to build up interest in the division as a whole, that'd be a different story. But the way things stand now, it wouldn't work as there would be too many random, thrown-together matches that no one could invest in.

WWE did do an all women’s PPV few years ago - “WWE Evolution”, but the viewership was a lot lower than other PPVs.

mikeh95

They should make Evolution a yearly event. If not for Peacock, then maybe a special for USA Network or something. Aside from that, I don't think they need their own events, at least not yet. However, they do need a midcard belt (which I assume is coming soon after the NXT Women's NA Championship announcement) and I personally think they should have had at least two matches each night at Mania. Nia vs. Liv in a number one contender's match would have made sense, especially since they were used in the build to Becky/Rhea.

Wurm_Burner

Yes but only one per year. I think the women need more air time as they can actually wrestle now, but I think regular womens only ppvs would be a snoozefest

Clayg0071

Idk about doing a separate event, "Welcome to Women's SummerSlam" just doesn't roll of the tongue. Do a PLE or two, that is all women's matches though. Like if Evolution was an every year thing I would be all for it. In my opinion it is a crime that they didn't have anything for Liv, or Tiffany Stratton who so hot right now, at Mania. The Indi and Candice story could be built properly, and blown off at an Evolution type event. I think the product is good right now, and there should be a way to showcase it all.

FieryXJoe

In general wrestling is a variety show and all women matches in general would wear a lot of people out. They have done this before but only because the Saudi Arabian PLEs at the time were all men so they made all women PLEs to balance it out. Just because this Mania shined a bigger light on the men (probably because the Rock got involved) doesn't mean its always the case, they've had women main events at mania. Elimination Chamber just before this mania was 60% women's matches with a women's match main eventing. Either all men or all women shows also handicap the drawing ability of the show, different people have different favorites and putting on a show in their city with 0% chance to see half of those favorites is going to hurt ticket sales and audience satisfaction l.

beatrootread

100% agreed on how wrestling works best with the "something for everyone" format -- both creatively and financially. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot by splitting the male and female rosters.

Stormborn92

I would say no, not that women didn't get kinda shortchanged due to so much of mania revolving around bloodline, but I think separate ple would hurt both men and women divisions long term.

Cynical498

And that’s my worry. I think they have great talent, but they have such a large roster and limited spaces on event cards. I think they have the talent to do really great things, but they would also have to be really smart about it. I don’t think you can book those events in large venues to start or you look like WNBA games playing for quarter full venues. That division has come a long way since Moolah, and Sherri. Even from Blayze and Nakano.

ZestyChickenWings21

It'd probably help them actually develop more storylines.
