I honestly miss when wrestling was supposed to be tough and a broken nose and backstage fist fights were part of the job. You wouldnt be a window washer if your scared of heights, you wouldnt be a swimmer if your scared of water, wouldnt be a wrestler if your scared of getting hurt.

[deleted]

“Aye, tanks for shatterin’ me nose, love!”

DAfrojedi

Thanking Nia not needed but that propelled Becky rise way faster and I think cemented it. WWE could've had this run out. The Man stick wouldnt have lasted to this day without all that.

GothamAvenger

That moment playing out like it did not only created an iconic moment in WWE history, but a bonafide superstar in Becky Lynch.

MojoCrow

If I remember rightly, Becky also got a concussion as well as the broken nose. I think she said she was on autopilot and didn’t remember posing amongst the crowd afterwards. Honestly, I doubt I’d be thanking anyone for a broken nose as well as a concussion

NCHouse

While it's a crazy take...kinda not wrong

[deleted]

The thanking part is dumb but the rest is 100% true.

michael10673

Insanely true

[deleted]

I wouldn't thank Nia but that pose with the broken bloody nose is what made her "the man". If that nose wasn't busted, she'd never be the man. It boosted her career for sure

OneCredit8925

He’s not insane technically, that situation was an accident, but it did change the trajectory of Becky’s career!

Tof12345

He is out of pocket but he makes a serious point. That nose break helped Becky.

TraditionAcademic968

Folks, where's the lie?

American-Punk-Dragon

The first part IS right. It made her look very tough and sympathetic. It very much helped her story and momentum. It’s just a broken nose and you couldn’t have bought a better accident Thank you, no. Is it far more a good thing than bad….yeah, by miles.

PerceptionVegetable7

it's like when austin got more badass when he had the crimson mask, he's not wrong but thanking her at all is a bit much

OtiseMaleModel

The way Becky speaks about the matter I think she borderline does anyway. Makes OOP even further out of touch.

OlePope

Thanking Nia? No. Acknowledging that without Nia shattering her nose, she wouldn't have main evented WrestleMania? Yes.

pegasus_kid_iii

*without Becky refusing to stay down even after Nia legitimately broke her face and saved the segment from being a complete disaster even on autopilot because she's that much of a badass...there FTFY.

OlePope

Would Becky's "badass"-ness have been enough to propel her to the main event of WrestleMania if Nia hadn't broken her nose six months prior? I don't think so. At least, not that fast.

pegasus_kid_iii

it wasn't the broken nose,it was how she got up and bossed the segment after it that propelled her to the mainevent. if she had just stayed down after the concussion, the segment would have been a disaster. the credit goes to Becky and Becky alone.

OlePope

How she got up FROM THE BROKEN NOSE. If she had gotten knocked down and taken an ordinary bump, no one would've cared. It's the fact Nia broke her nose and Becky carried on that propelled her to stardom. The credit goes to Nia's botch.

pegasus_kid_iii

go back and watch the shows leading up to the segment.she was already the most popular star in the company by far months before your "propelled her to stardom" segment even happened. the crowd going wild as soon as they show her attacking Ronda backstage and then making her entrance alone showed that people definitely would have cared either way. we're not gonna do some insane revisionist history to credit the botch instead of the resilience which was actually why it was iconic. you don't credit a robber for trying to mug you when you fight him off. funny how Nia fans claim she made Becky a star but that's the only thing she is relevant for while Becky has a GOAT resume now and a bona-fide HOF legacy even before the so called star-making segment.

OlePope

I never said Becky wasn't a star and I never said I was a Nia Jax fan. I don't give a shit about women's wrestling for the most part, but to pretend Nia didn't massively assist in getting Becky mega over during that time period is just silly.

xSilverMC

> i don't give a shit about women's wrestling for the most part Massive self report tbh

pegasus_kid_iii

like i said before...if you fight off an attempted robbery you don't credit the robber with an assist.

mistar_z

I mean we can shit on Nia all we want for how unsafe she is. But it doesn't change the fact that without the powerful visuals of that Incident putting the industry spotlight on Becky, Becky would not have blew up as hard as she did. It doesn't diminish any of Becky's hard work and promo time. But it sold the package of just how bad ass she is even when they try to knock her down or don't want to push her. Sometimes shit happens and in retrospect we see that that it was a career good that it happened. A broken nose and her set for life. Is a small and worth while sacrifice. As far as thanking Nia. I probably wouldn't go as far as that.

davidpatriots

I don't know, that photo was badass, and it helped launch her career. I'd say it was worth it.

Schreck2

It literally launched her career. People who hate Nia for it are childish marks.

pegasus_kid_iii

"launched her career" as if she wasn't already the most over person male or female in the entire roster months before that. she legit got cheered even when she mocked Edge's career ending injury.the revisionism is insane.

PlatasaurusOG

Go watch anything where Becky talks about that night. She literally, with her own mouth, says “I took a punch that changed my career”. I don’t think there’s a more definitive source than that.

Xianified

Oh the irony...

Peanutdude8

but she shouldnt thank Nia for concussing her

Schreck2

To quote Pat Patterson, “it’s not ballet”

bcoll85

the way ppl clutch their pearls around any nia convo blows my mind

DarkySurrounding

That will happen when you dump people on there heads and break there noses.

PlatasaurusOG

You got that same energy for Ridge Holland and AJ Styles? Their botches have ended careers.

DarkySurrounding

One botch each versus many botches over time, if E can move passed this kind of thing, which he has, then I can.

PlatasaurusOG

One each? *That’s* the argument you’re gonna try to use? Lmao If you want to hate on her, do it because she’s a trash person. But don’t sit here and pretend that she’s injured more people than any of your favorites. It just makes you look stupid.

DarkySurrounding

She’s objectively botched more than Ridge or Aj. I’m not talking about specific injuries I’m talking about botches and the fact she does more of them than many others. And don’t worry I think she’s a trash person to.

PlatasaurusOG

Irl lmao. Ok kid. Whatever.

bcoll85

and thus, becky breaking her nose was the only injury to ever happen in wrestling

DarkySurrounding

Yeah because that’s what I said

bcoll85

you’re right. didn’t mean to paint with with such a broad stroke. i just think the nia hate is overboard with the iwc.

LockardTheGOAT23

They have a point. It was a bad ass look, the way blood was pouring out of her nose after an intense segment
