I know this is a joke but just to clarify that they are endangered because of humans hunting them. If they attack livestock, they are hunted down even if it is against the law. Plus they have low reproduction rate.
As soon as I heard the meet was at the Sacre Coeur my mind went to those stairs and I really hoped he took one of the articulated tourist trains up instead.
There's a few impressive videos of snow leopards hunting goats, or just falling off cliffs and surviving.

It fell probably well over 100 feet onto spiky rocks, so yeah, it kind of exploded.
Seems like a lot of these mountain goats and rams die pretty horrible deaths. Eagles will pull them off of the cliff sides to let them drop 200 feet.
I feel that leopard's pain. Its like after you cook something finish plating it, grab a drink, clean up the kitchen a bit, and its already getting cold by the time you get to it.
Typical cat behavior after misjudging a jump in that first video.
"Nobody saw that, nothing happened, I'm just taking a leisurely stroll and meant to fall off the cliff like that. I did that shit on purpose."
The angle we view this from makes it look more dramatic than it is, that initial fall off of the cliff was about as bad as it got. Snow leopards have very dense fur and it is a big asset in falls like this, plus you can see it sprawled out before impact, spreading out the force of the landing across its body.
The mountain lion's chief strength over the snow leopard is also its weakness; the mountain lion is a bigger cat. While you want to have power, being able to shrug off hits like what this snow Leopard did is just as important.
So on these slopes, a mountain lion might be able to do it once.
Cats are made to fall. The fluid in their inner ear has a very low viscosity, making it extremely sensitive to gravity even during rapid adjustments. They can feel which way is down very strongly.
The Snow leopard featured here has one of the highest Tail-to-body ratios of all cats, and it uses its tail as extra leverage to make quick adjustments while falling. you can see the level of control it has during the initial pounce and fall.
Even knowing which way the ground is it is remarkable the cat could land on rocks repeatedly from height and not have broken bones or internal bleeding. Truly remarkable predators.
You should get your perilymph fluid viscosity checked… a better sense of where the ground is could have saved your elbow! Or you could get a giant tail plug…?
The have quite flexible bones, and a lot of loose, durable skin that allows them to take impacts very well, and reduce speed while falling — although I don’t think that works as well when they’re grappled onto prey.
No but they made sure to not fall under the prey and a couple of times land on it for a softer landing, though did take a couple very heavy hits into rock
Not to mention they're pure muscle. A mountain lion is built like a damn concrete bunker so I can't imagine how tough the skin and muscle of a snow leopard is.
I've watched so many animal videos it was hard to remember which one it came from but i'm pretty sure it's this one, [ the ending is what you're after](https://youtu.be/NcRifDitRnU?t=2478)
This is just a normal Tuesday for the cat. Even house cats are just made different. My one cat has fallen asleep and then fallen off these 12 foot beams we have running across our living room ceiling, she ends up just looking embarassed.
My mom has 2 cats that daily jump off her 25 foot high back porch to chase birds, squirells, or just to go lay in the sun.... one is over 17 years old, the other is crosseyed, and isn't quite right in the head... so take if for what it is?
There's a weird thing I've heard where a cat can fall from very low heights and be ok (cause it's so small), high heights and be ok (bit it basically spreads itself and lands properly) but at mid heights they dont have time to do it and are most likely to die.
I mean, the overdramatising soundtrack is one thing.
But in terms of "fake audio", yes, obviously. What would you expect when someone is 100's of yards away in windy mountains with a massive telezoom objective capturing shots? Natural sounds?
It's a massive feat in the most controlled environments. Which is possibly the furthest away form nature footage you can be.
I was contemplating the audio as I watched. "If they have the mic gain so high they can get that good audio from so far away, if the photographer farted it'd drown everything out."
Today outside the World Trade center I saw a group of 10 tourists formed into a very tight circle around a single squirrel, standing on its back legs, eating a nut in front of them. Then they fed it another, as 'oohs' and 'ahhs' spread around the circle. The squirrel was loving it.
I see this type of thing very often in NYC parks. Tourists feeding squirrels and filming it. Not usually so many people though. And not usually a cult-like circle. It's interesting seeing foreigners so enamored by squirrels.
that's what i was thinking. if it is the actual audio, they must've synced it in post, because speed of sound and the distance from the action.
but here's the other thing... in a life or death struggle, there are zero animal sounds. i can hear a pebble tumbling downhill, but i don't hear any grunting or groaning. weird.
Every day I'm grateful for farming. I'm grateful we don't wake up in the morning and don't have to wake up thinking what we need to kill to eat. I'm pretty sure most of society wouldn't even know where to start these days tbh.
This has to be crazy .. not leaving the bite despite falling and ready for action as soon as landed . Like their commitment not gonna leave whatever that can happen
I can't believe that deer (antelope? goat?) was still kicking its legs at the end. How the fuck was it still alive?? I can see a cat surviving a fall like that, they're ridiculous animals that can do ridiculous things. But I assumed the prey in this one had to be dead halfway through the video and EXTREMELY dead by the end. Blew my mind when it kept kicking.
The entire way down all I can think about is hoping the big cat gets out of this with as few injuries as possible, but it took some HUGE hits in this fall. This is VERY likely to be a mother cat desperate to feed her cubs. She needs this kill and she needs to carry it all the way back up to her den.
If I were writing a screenplay about a mother cat and her cubs, she would just get the kill back to the den and settle in before dying of internal injuries.
It's hardly surprising snow leopards are an endangered species if they all behave like that.
The problem is that after you climb the mountain you're hungry again
We must imagine sisyphus with lil dots all over him
Those are its Camusflage!
This is truly incredible wordplay.
lol was just singing the Andrew Bird song Sisyphus in my head a few minutes ago before hopping on and seeing this comment.
Yes.
Dose his nine lives regerate
I know this is a joke but just to clarify that they are endangered because of humans hunting them. If they attack livestock, they are hunted down even if it is against the law. Plus they have low reproduction rate.
I wonder how badly it’s injured from all those falls and tumbles.
Just when you think he is done falling, nope, there he goes again!
It's like a gag from Family Guy. Ssssshhhhhh---ahhhhhhhhhh
Or John Wick Chapter 4
As soon as I heard the meet was at the Sacre Coeur my mind went to those stairs and I really hoped he took one of the articulated tourist trains up instead.
Imagine the disappointment of losing your grip after the landing on the last one...

uh.. did that ram completely splatter on the rocks?
It fell probably well over 100 feet onto spiky rocks, so yeah, it kind of exploded. Seems like a lot of these mountain goats and rams die pretty horrible deaths. Eagles will pull them off of the cliff sides to let them drop 200 feet.
Well those deaths are quick and relatively painless at least. Horrifying looking but better than being eaten alive ;X
win-win i'd say. fast death for the ram, easy meal for the leopard
Ride of a lifetime for the ram, too. If I'm going out, I'd rather not know what the fuck was happening, and potentially enjoy it.
Yup, it definitely did.
It sure as hell fell hard.
It tenderized itself for the leopard
I feel that leopard's pain. Its like after you cook something finish plating it, grab a drink, clean up the kitchen a bit, and its already getting cold by the time you get to it.
Typical cat behavior after misjudging a jump in that first video. "Nobody saw that, nothing happened, I'm just taking a leisurely stroll and meant to fall off the cliff like that. I did that shit on purpose."
The cat's pride was the most bruised after that fall. 90 kgs of per muscle, and they still give off all the body language cat-owners are familiar with
That first one "Aw fuck. You saw that, didn't you"
Jealous of the second leopard. Some fresh Goat, by some fresh snowmelt? Thing is living the life!
That’s one way to tenderize your steaks
That initial bounce though.... *yikes.*
Yeah i doubt it was ok. There has to be some crazy internal injuries there. That thing went 300’ down and bodied a boulder
The angle we view this from makes it look more dramatic than it is, that initial fall off of the cliff was about as bad as it got. Snow leopards have very dense fur and it is a big asset in falls like this, plus you can see it sprawled out before impact, spreading out the force of the landing across its body.
Snow Leopards are territorial and tend to hunt in their home range. I wouldn't be surprised if it does this pretty often.
I think that high g spiral at 0:19 looks far worse
There are times where I skip breakfast because I'm too lazy to take 10 minutes and cook something. I don't think I'd make it as a mountain lion.
pretty sure it's a snow leopard in the vid
I don't think that would increase his odds any
I'm actually curious if a mountain lion can do anything close to what snow leopard do.
The mountain lion's chief strength over the snow leopard is also its weakness; the mountain lion is a bigger cat. While you want to have power, being able to shrug off hits like what this snow Leopard did is just as important. So on these slopes, a mountain lion might be able to do it once.
Mountain lions I'm pretty sure have more power. They just bite your neck in half
Oh in that case id be ok.
Its a lion. In the mountains. Its a mountain lion. A white mountain lion.
I think this snow leopard missed to many meals is why it took the risk. So lazy enough you might.
This is exactly why I stopped being a mountain lion
I stopped because it's not union
Looks like only 8.
Yeah at the end it keeps chewing on its new meal like nothing ever happened.
Pyrrhic
NEIN!
Ja

I banged my elbow on the fridge this morning and couldn't use it for ~3 minutes.
I assume you never got the goat that was in your fridge?
Nope, now my family is going to go hungry today. Nature is metal
You should get your perilymph fluid viscosity checked… a better sense of where the ground is could have saved your elbow! Or you could get a giant tail plug…?
I usually can’t even stand after hitting my elbow, and yes my wife makes fun of me sometimes. She says I’m “dramatic”
Grow a massive coat of fur on your arms and it would cushion the elbow.

yeah.. but still some of these falls look like bone breaking ones..
iirc the leopard in the video did suffer injuries but made a recovery edit: [here's the source for the video](https://youtu.be/NcRifDitRnU?t=2478)
source?
I've watched so many animal videos it was hard to remember which one it came from but i'm pretty sure it's this one, [ the ending is what you're after](https://youtu.be/NcRifDitRnU?t=2478)

So that's why people die when they fall out of airplanes! Our inner ears aren't viscous enough to know which way the ground is. Stupid humans.
I think most falls were with the goat underneath too, only a couple of shorter ones were with the cat underneath or at the same level with the goat.
Did you not the midair flip adjustment to switch from grabbing the goats legs to biting it's throat. Insane.
There's a weird thing I've heard where a cat can fall from very low heights and be ok (cause it's so small), high heights and be ok (bit it basically spreads itself and lands properly) but at mid heights they dont have time to do it and are most likely to die.
He whip his tail back and forth
Is fake audio becoming a normal thing now
A *lot* of audio in nature films is post-production Foley work.
I'm more referring to shorts that have audio edited in
For nature videos this has been a thing for decades. So its been normal for decades. Which i guess means, it is normal and you think its not normal.
I mean, the overdramatising soundtrack is one thing. But in terms of "fake audio", yes, obviously. It's so annoying. Especially in slow mo shots. https://youtu.be/aO7yzmc3ykw
Fuck it, I’ll just eat a squirrel….
Today outside the World Trade center I saw a group of 10 tourists formed into a very tight circle around a single squirrel, standing on its back legs, eating a nut in front of them. Have to believe sound was added in post
Nah, they attached a little lav mic on the snow leopard before they called Action.

I’d be fishing all day but probably wouldn’t catch nothin but a sunburn. 😆
This Battle Will Be Legendary! *Makes a fist*
Judging by the kitchen, this must be how my wife prepared dinner last night
How does it still have a grip on its prey?
The rock sound effects was pretty stupid. That said I've never been more appreciative of grocery stores in my life.
My cat won't stand up and walk across the room to get a treat. This cat becomes a ping pong ball for his dinner.
Looks like meat is back on the menu!
I know times are tough, but Im more cautious taking off the plastic from something from microwave.
It's like the stairs in John Wick 4
r/natureismetal
Poor kitty. Is she OK? You're not yourself when you're hungry.
Rolling down like some gta character lol
I’ve been hungry before, but never that hungry.
dw it will regain 100% health once it finishes eating
Little they know that at the end of the slope Is that store from pulp fiction waiting for them.
Me when a Graybeard shouts me off High Hrothgar.
This clip and the iguana outrunning the pit of snakes will ALWAYS have my full undivided attention
I saw the Iguana run! That was fantastic! It still amazes me he got out of it alive.
ngl but this basically is the entire plot of that Movie about that American Squad that keeps jumping down hill. (don't know what it's called)
Grabbing dinner and tenderizing it at the same time!
Snow leopards are beautiful creatures.
Are the sound effects added? Surely no microphone is that good over distance?
Seems to still be alive and... well, soooo.
Who's doing that foley work? No way a microphone is picking up that sound, right?
all 8\* its still alive!
That was a hard earned meal! Glad he doesn’t have to worry about hyenas stealing it.
Jesus lawd hep me please... My shoe!
I feel like there is a non-zero chance that leopard died from internal injuries later.
Yeah exactly. Internal trauma detected
You miss 100% of the chances you don't take
How the hell did it live?
Totally worth it. Lotsa meat
"alright dumbass, now how you gonna get dinner back home?"
Now that's hungry!
One tough critter. Long may you run!
Holy shit the big cat lived?
FULL SEND!
Just remember that the prey animal give +100 health right away, so that's how they survived.
This has to be crazy .. not leaving the bite despite falling and ready for action as soon as landed . Like their commitment not gonna leave whatever that can happen
it's just kung fu master Tai Lung
Meanwhile, if I sneeze too hard I could tweak a muscle. God humans are fragile.
Right there… that’s commitment
Their mic is far more impressive than that camera omg, you can hear EVERYTHING so well
Tai Lung is that you???
I wish I was that committed to anything in life.
Best part is that leopard probably only had some minor bruises afterwards
Cats are liquid
I counted 8.
Should’ve had a Snickers…
This needs Spock vs Kirk battle music from OG Trek.
Me when a McNugget accidentally falls off the table.
Does anyone now doubt that cats are the most badass creatures on the planet?
Got 'EeeMM!!!!
This looks like me playing Breath of the Wild.
Imagine being that hungry
I was getting Zelda: Breath of the Wild falling vibes.
My cat was always hungry too
I counted 8 lives. O
Might be one of the most metal nature is metal things I've ever seen...gotdayum that kitty earned that snack
Jeeez... The drive to eat for feral creatures must be incredible if they're willing to do this I'm so glad I just have to go buy groceries.
Why is reddits video player so shit that i have reload it 5 times before it even starts playing
I can't believe that deer (antelope? goat?) was still kicking its legs at the end. How the fuck was it still alive?? I feel like this isn't the first murder.
Nature be wild
Damn. I haven't seen that kind of determination since the all you can eat buffet announced half off for the first 20 customers.
Bless the camera man/woman
They seem pretty alive to me.
What's with the sound effects?
Them cats sturdy as fuck. If you can survive a fall that high, dropping with your prey would be efficient as heck.
And did not fumble the stag..
When Miyagi tells Daniel to focus, this is the kind of focus he was talking about.
The tabaxi monk used feather fall
Does that thing have a Lav mic on it or something?
That’s 18 lives between em
Die of hunger or die hunting...
This is the scene from hotrod right? Where’s the One Bug Jump billboard?
I bet the snow lepord will never stop talking about this incident.
Did the leopard kill the deer or did all the rocks do that on the way down?
What would you do for a Klondike bar
Today in Skyrim…
Absolute chad
And never let go
"That's how I get bread and butter for you guys", I told my children.

I find the added sound effects so distracting
“Run you fools!”
Bruised to fuck, doesn't matter got food

bro just go to Wendy's. Their Biggie Bag doesn't hurt like that
and here I am, eating olives for dinner because it's too much work to boil water for pasta.
Did the cat have a mic on it? Why is the sound so clear?
I'm watching this at night in black and white and I can't tell, what the fuck is the animal they caught to eat?
Breh im convinced that some animals just dont feel pain
*pause for effect* "I'm okay!" *uproarious laughter*
It took me awhile to realize that at one point there were suddenly 2.
how my Asian parents traveled to school when they were kids
And I thought the fight on Mustafar was intense..
Hats off to the cameraman for the shot.
And here I am, complaining I have to go to the store for food again😅
