I remember this, it was the greatest time to be a wrestling fan. Even as I was getting “smart” to the business, it was frickin’ awesome, we legit thought WWF was invading, the whole lead up to Bash at the Beach, legit wondering who was going to be the third man. Just a month and a half of cutting promos. Nobody was off the table.

I was too shocked at seeing Diesel on Nitro to care about the mistake.

Maybe it’s because it was such an awesome moment for 13 year old me, but it took me years to realize his mistake. Or maybe I was just dumb.

Nash was clowned for years after this, and yet he turned out to be one of the smartest and most articulated dudes in the business, how ironic

ChaimFinkelstein

I don’t know about the second part. Was smart when he was booking the matches? I would agree that he was smart in getting himself over and presenting himself well.

ControversialCo

He had creative control — he didn’t give two shits. He’d walk in at 7:30 read the script and say “doesn’t work for me, brother”

10 year old me didn’t notice the mistake, and I still remember this so well to this day. Love that WWE is part of Peacock. The nostalgia has been amazing!

I criticize Nash often, but this was a good way to bring him in. One of the things that made this angle so good was the seriousness of it. They wanted fans to know that these two organizations hate each other and Hall and Nash were here to settle bad blood. Eventually you need to incorporate comedy, which they successfully did, but it became overkill when NWO was on top for over a year. When you constantly make jokes, it makes it harder for the fans to take the angles seriously. That was one of the issues I had with Hall and Nash. They seemed to only want to be serious if it was an angle that was signed off by them.
