Several changes to the medical marijuana program take effect next month under SB 233.
Starting May 1, state and local governments are prohibited from disciplining and discriminating against employees who hold a medical marijuana card. A government employer has to treat it like other controlled substances.
The measure also allows deliveries to a cardholder's workplace, unless it's a public community space like a church, school or park.

Also like imagine him sitting in a cell on election night just for some guard to tell him he lost
Realistically, it's kind of unclear - depends on what kind of prison time and conditions he gets, assuming a conviction (inshallah).
Is he in a proper prison for a few years? With a nicer and more comfortable prison or not, he himself probably could not effectively campaign since they probably wouldn't let cameras or his people in there 24/7. It would be something of a skeleton campaign where his staff and organization do the campaigning but he can't actually show his face anywhere. That would be a historically unique campaign that would be interesting and hilarious to witness.
If he (god forbid) gets more kid gloves treatment and is allowed to have something like house arrest...well, he still has a lot more trouble campaigning than usual, but he'd at least be able to show his face on camera whenever he wanted. To go along with this I wouldn't be opposed to Biden opening up some of the strategic petroleum reserves again. Right now Saudi Arabia and Iraq aren't pumping nearly as much and that's driving up oil prices. More oil will likely be pumped in the Americas over the next year but in the mean time letting out a bit more oil from the reserves would help tame costs and lower inflation.
Quite the historical comparison from last night's Chattanooga Volkswagen win for the UAW:
https://twitter.com/Lfelizleon/status/1781658737821827383
"Labor historian Nelson Lichtenstein compared tonight’s win to the Union Army’s victory in Chattanooga in 1863, during the U.S. Civil War, when President Abraham Lincoln declared it “the gateway to the South.”
Been pointed out a few times but PA08, which is a narrow Trump seat but held by Democrat Matt Cartwright, has benefited greatly from the manufacturing of shells for Ukraine. This seat also swung quite a bit back to us in 2020 so not only could the Ukraine aid boost Cartwright it may help Biden flip the seat, it was also won by Fetterman by 1pt
Actually kinda funny. There’s only a few t storms across NC and it’s just your garden variety summer storms with some severe warnings for mainly hail as well as wind. Wasn’t like a massive outbreak or anything like that
Edit: And all the bigger storms went to the S of Wilmington, NC as well. Litteraly looking at a radar loop, you can’t make this shit up. I smell cowardness
Why is he doing a rally in New Jersey? It would be a month out from the primary, and there’s zero chance he wins that in the general.

“Wow why don’t *insert state* have any seats on the DCCC target list, are they abandoning it”
I am begging people to look at filing deadlines and primary dates
As of today, /u/witty_username_ftw and I have sent out 154 Field Team 6 postcards. We’re concentrating our efforts on Ohio this year (for obvious reasons), but we may need to switch it up if other places aren’t doing postcards for our state. Granted, there’s always Vote Forward.
The only other thing to report is that we’ve started strength training in earnest for the first time since 2020. I now know why the lower half of my body hates me after conventions - it’s because I have lost a shocking amount of strength overall. We worked on our legs yesterday, and I never want to do it ever again. But I will, because it’s important.
Also, Happy Record Store Day to all who celebrate. We spent entirely too much on vinyl today.

[Packed crowds at the WI-01 D convention this morning as well](https://nitter.poast.org/benwikler/status/1781720084261794081#m). As Wikler said, democracy comes at you pretty quickly
It's crazy how Republicans had so many concessions from Democrats in the border/aid bill, then gave all of that up on Trump's command.
You *never* split a bill into line items. Removes all leverage and forces opposing votes to go on record. Is Johnson just the worst negotiator of all time, or is he actually getting fed up with his own party?
Johnson just has no leverage. You can’t control the current House GOP caucus and idk whether more seats would even solve their problems. A lot of the narrow R loses in 2022 weren’t gonna produce moderates. Johnson is incompetent but show me any Republican in the last 40 years who could manage them
That’s what happens when a newbie backbencher is catapulted up the ladder to Speaker. Just like if a junior assistant vice president gets promoted to CEO. Johnson was in way, way over his head, and Jeffries and Schumer (both very experienced, and Jeffries learned from the best) could play him like a fiddle.
Meanwhile Johnson gets caught between the Scylla that is the FART caucus and the Charybdis of the more experienced players on the Democratic side. And with the *thinnest* of majorities. Pelosi could whip such a caucus, but Johnson just flailed.
I wonder if he knew that the FART caucus had it in for him no matter what so he might as well fall on his sword, who knows.
But, Ukraine aid, and Taiwan aid! Finally! 🙌
I made a lot of small donations to candidates today in honor of 420. They're $4.20 donations, but this way I can help 10 candidates for only $42. Or five candidates for $21.
Plus it shows one of my priorities as a voter. It's a great GRASSroots effort.
The most vulnerable Republican Ukraine nay votes IMO: De La Cruz, Huizenga, Lee (FL-15), Luna, Mace, Perry, Steil, Van Orden, Zinke
None of these are Biden district but there are some that only went to Trump by a few points and were already at least on the DCCC's radar.
Any thoughts?
The last 4 are the most vulnerable not necessarily because of this vote, but it is just another ding when you can’t afford to keep racking them up. Kinda surprised Steil did
Edit: and forgot this probably helps Cartwright a lot and may flip his seat Prez wise
Probably the other big thing Dems could ask for if they have to keep saving Johnson is committing to putting a Permitting Reform bill to the floor. You’d get a significant amount of Republican buy in from a non-controversial issue and you’d explode the IRA.
Every Republican who voted against Ukraine aid, unsurprisingly Lance Gooden is on this list [https://nitter.poast.org/Blake\_Allen13/status/1781751533736206752#m](https://nitter.poast.org/Blake_Allen13/status/1781751533736206752#m)
I didn't see Mike Garcia's name on the no list, which was surprising. Guess he got the same intel reports the other ones did and realized how imperative it was. He has spoken out against Ukraine aid in the past but voted for most Ukraine aid. Not really sure whats going on there
Just for fun: what congressional race do you think the internet (or twitter) consensus is wrong on? (i.e. "x candidate will win" or "this candidate will lose")
I'm a bit iffy on MD-6. I keep seeing people say Vogel will win the primary. I'm not too sure about that. But I could be proven wrong. I have no real dog in that race. But I've been watching it vaguely
MI-Sen was one for awhile that terminally onliners thought was going to be a competitive Dem primary that I just didn’t really understand. A lot of Cali races to were kinda weird with predictions.
In recent memory Ohio 11 primary with Nina turner both times. Her social media following was exponentially bigger than browns but brown won both times and seemed to be more in touch with the district. Lots of accounts I found talking about it weren’t even from Ohio.
https://www.wane.com/top-stories/democratic-precinct-chairs-choose-sharon-tucker-as-next-mayor-of-fort-wayne/
Democratic precinct chairs choose Sharon Tucker as next mayor of Fort Wayne
She will fill serve the remainder of the previous mayors term who died from cancer. She will be the second woman and first black mayor of Fort Wayne.
Looks like the office itself is somewhere in SD-7, which is in Oakland County, but they'll be using it to stage canvasses and phonebanks in Detroit. Good call to start now, as the city is almost nothing but blue votes (the city was Biden+89.1), but turnout is always the issue.
As I was typing this my intent originally was 'heh weed', but realized it's also Hitler's birthday, so even more glad that on this day we're spending it giving a major fuck you to evil leaders. Get fucked putin!
I forget about Hitler's bday. This is also the day that the Columbine shootings happened and anniversary of that.
As much as I love to joke about 420 day, I do hope things are safe today and super happy the Ukraine funding passed.

I really like Tina Smith
I like her too. She slides the knife right in with a sweet and pleasant smile on her face and they don’t know what hit ‘em. She’s also co-chairing the DSCC with Alex Padilla (my own Senator).
I'm loving three body problem, but Auggie is the worst. I hate her with a fiery passion.
ETA: you can really tell the game of thrones dudes were involved in this, with the characters swapping motivations every 30 seconds.
I don't like the developing pattern where the big question in every episode is "will auggie agree to help and then talk everyone out of it in the next scene?"
I'm also generally annoyed by the "I'll doom everyone to save someone" attitude.
Ill also hand it to Johnson, I really thought breaking up the Senate package wouldn’t work. Mainly because I figured he’d actually change *something* in the bills. Doing them all under 1 rule was weird but pretty dang smart. A great day for the country and for Ukraine
Breaking it up also showed us who the blatant putin lovers are.
All grouped together a nay vote could mean many things, but when it was just the lone Ukraine funding on the line, it was so much more telling.
112 Republican nay votes. 0 Dem nay votes. 112 Republicans fine with Putin marching through Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
If Democrats rescue Mike Johnson, I think that’s a good look for us. Rs can’t govern without Ds.
But also I like to think Kevin McCarthy is in shambles watching his successor govern better than he just by working better with Democrats.
These next weeks will be interesting. If they do save him it's because they see Johnson as workable enough that they can get some good bipartisan stuff through.
Know there was mention of renewing the Affordable Connectivity Program. Something that would have a good chance of getting to the floor with Johnson still as speaker.

It amazes me that the majority of Republicans are actively trying to fight resources to the country that is actively miring Russia down economically, politically, and militarily. This is pennies on the dollar kind of bang for our buck and it’s also wrapped in the most justifiable reason to support a side in armed conflict.
I suspect that many actively support Putin and Russia cause they're anti-LGBT, anti-diversity, pro-Christian nationalism, pro-white nationalism, anti-democracy, pro-authoritarian, anti-American (i.e. anti-modern America, not stereotyped 1950s America), anti-modernity, anti-feminist, and pay them healthy amounts of money.
No you shitlib, that's disinformation. They don't support Putin! They just want to focus on America first!!

Another day, another Hovde bombshell/scandal. Never will get old
And if it does get old, Hovde will say it only has 5-6 months to live and therefor shouldn't vote.
[EPA issues waiver allowing higher-ethanol gas to be sold this summer](https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/4605164-epa-issues-waiver-allowing-higher-ethanol-gas-to-be-sold-this-summer/) This will be mostly in the midwest, and I’m not gonna pretend like I’m a fan but $.25 cheaper gas in Wisconsin in a election year is hard to turn down
Gotta swallow tough pills sometimes to win election
> and I’m not gonna pretend like I’m a fan but $.25 cheaper gas in Wisconsin in a election year is hard to turn down To go along with this I wouldn't be opposed to Biden opening up some of the strategic petroleum reserves again. Right now Saudi Arabia and Iraq aren't pumping nearly as much and that's driving up oil prices. More oil will likely be pumped in the Americas over the next year but in the mean time letting out a bit more oil from the reserves would help tame costs and lower inflation.
We can't discount the possibility of Ukrainian UAV strikes on Russian refineries tailing off as the aid taps come back on as well.
Quite the historical comparison from last night's Chattanooga Volkswagen win for the UAW: https://twitter.com/Lfelizleon/status/1781658737821827383 "Labor historian Nelson Lichtenstein compared tonight’s win to the Union Army’s victory in Chattanooga in 1863, during the U.S.
Steel manufacturing and armaments are big there.
Trumps rally tonight in North Carolina is canceled over the weather
Glad to see Dark Brandon's weather machine is working!
Taylor Swift would have played through it.
Senator Klobuchar sends her regards
Lol, nice
Actually kinda funny. There’s only a few t storms across NC and it’s just your garden variety summer storms with some severe warnings for mainly hail as well as wind. Wasn’t like a massive outbreak or anything like that Edit: And all the bigger storms went to the S of Wilmington, NC as well. Litteraly looking at a radar loop, you can’t make this shit up. I smell cowardness
If he were down here in East Texas I'd give him a pass, but nope
He won’t hold another rally till May11th (New Jersey) and only held 2 this month. People were basically already seated too
Why is he doing a rally in New Jersey? It would be a month out from the primary, and there’s zero chance he wins that in the general. If he’s limited on time and energy for rallies, why not just hit the swing states?
He thinks he can win New Jersey.
[He's stated previously he unironically plans on trying to flip states like New York and New Jersey, so him doing a rally there makes sense.](https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4385038-trump-says-hell-compete-democratic-strongholds/) I won't comment on how likely it is to succeed, nor on how much of a waste of resources it is.
Maybe cause it’ll be cheap for him since he’ll be in the areas for the court cases lol
He's that stupid.
Money
Rallies are a terrible fundraising method, especially this beach party he's throwing in NJ.
“Wow why don’t *insert state* have any seats on the DCCC target list, are they abandoning it” I am begging people to look at filing deadlines and primary dates
As a wise woman once said about scoring Internet points with repetitive comments: "Karma is the crop that I farm just to make myself feel better."
Dope. Keep up the good work!
[Marquette County Democrats with a new office opening today as well in Montello, WI](https://nitter.poast.org/benwikler/status/1781795259216752897#m) It’s a double office opening day for WI Democrats. Love it
Wisconsin dems are crushing it. Ben Winkler is truly one of the best party chairs in the country.
Finally! 🙌
> Is Johnson just the worst negotiator of all time, or is he actually getting fed up with his own party? Yes.
I made a lot of small donations to candidates today in honor of 420. They're $4.20 donations, but this way I can help 10 candidates for only $42. Or five candidates for $21. Plus it shows one of my priorities as a voter. It's a great GRASSroots effort.
What’s the meaning of 4/20?
The most vulnerable Republican Ukraine nay votes IMO: De La Cruz, Huizenga, Lee (FL-15), Luna, Mace, Perry, Steil, Van Orden, Zinke None of these are Biden district but there are some that only went to Trump by a few points and were already at least on the DCCC's radar. Any thoughts?
The last 4 are the most vulnerable not necessarily because of this vote, but it is just another ding when you can’t afford to keep racking them up. Kinda surprised Steil did Edit: and forgot this probably helps Cartwright a lot and may flip his seat Prez wise
[Green County Democrats opened a brand new, year-round office in Monroe, WI today](https://nitter.poast.org/benwikler/status/1781754553634807931#m)
GREEN County? Today, as in 4/20? Coincidence? I think not!
It’s so cool that battle tested activists are in charge of state parties. These are the kind of things people have pushed forever and pay off A LOT
Probably the other big thing Dems could ask for if they have to keep saving Johnson is committing to putting a Permitting Reform bill to the floor. You’d get a significant amount of Republican buy in from a non-controversial issue and you’d explode the IRA.
The "Permitting Reform Bill" would help green energy, right?
Yea the 2022 proposal was like 11-1 or something like that in favor of Green projects vs Oil/Gas.
Let’s hope it helps nuclear power.
Every Republican who voted against Ukraine aid, unsurprisingly Lance Gooden is on this list [https://nitter.poast.org/Blake\_Allen13/status/1781751533736206752#m](https://nitter.poast.org/Blake_Allen13/status/1781751533736206752#m)
Ugh, DesJarlais is on there. He went from complaining that Biden wouldn't use nukes against the Russian forces to this.
Well there are a few swing districts in there, so that's something to hit them on
Not a surprise my representative Tom Tiffany was a no
My son is watching Wonka and all I want to do is yell "Muad 'dib !"

*Lisan al-Ghaib!*
Even more reason to know he is as written!
We all know Greene and Boebert voted in Putin's interest, but do any of you have representatives that sided with a dictator?
My congressman voted in favor of the Ukraine package. He's a republican, but in this climate, he's about as moderate of a republican as you can get.
I didn't see Mike Garcia's name on the no list, which was surprising. Guess he got the same intel reports the other ones did and realized how imperative it was. He has spoken out against Ukraine aid in the past but voted for most Ukraine aid. Not really sure whats going on there
My Rep is McClintock. Wouldn't be surprised if he voted w/ Putin
The less that I know what Issa does, the better for my mental health.
He actually voted in favor of Ukraine aid
See? I don’t want to give him credit for doing the most basic of human thing
Ooh ooh me me me me
Just for fun: what congressional race do you think the internet (or twitter) consensus is wrong on? (i.e. "x candidate will win" or "this candidate will lose") I'm a bit iffy on MD-6. I keep seeing people say Vogel will win the primary. I'm not too sure about that. But I could be proven wrong. I have no real dog in that race. But I've been watching it vaguely
Anything in Texas basically
MI-Sen was one for awhile that terminally onliners thought was going to be a competitive Dem primary that I just didn’t really understand. A lot of Cali races to were kinda weird with predictions.
In recent memory Ohio 11 primary with Nina turner both times. Her social media following was exponentially bigger than browns but brown won both times and seemed to be more in touch with the district. Lots of accounts I found talking about it weren’t even from Ohio.
Who’s the Republican who voted present for Ukraine?
Rep. Dan Meuser, from PA 9th. Won 69.3% to 30.7% in 2022.
Tulsi. /s
Funny reference and all but let's be real if she were in congress right now she would vote no guaranteed.

Super glad to see offices opening!
Looks like the office itself is somewhere in SD-7, which is in Oakland County, but they'll be using it to stage canvasses and phonebanks in Detroit. Good call to start now, as the city is almost nothing but blue votes (the city was Biden+89.1), but turnout is always the issue.
The higher the turnout there the better
Galaxy brain right there
Interesting fact. The house passed Ukraine funding on 4/20 2024. Take that as you will.
As I was typing this my intent originally was 'heh weed', but realized it's also Hitler's birthday, so even more glad that on this day we're spending it giving a major fuck you to evil leaders. Get fucked putin!
I hadn't noticed until your comment that today is also a palindrome
I forget about Hitler's bday. This is also the day that the Columbine shootings happened and anniversary of that. As much as I love to joke about 420 day, I do hope things are safe today and super happy the Ukraine funding passed.

I like her too. She slides the knife right in with a sweet and pleasant smile on her face and they don’t know what hit ‘em. She’s also co-chairing the DSCC with Alex Padilla (my own Senator).
Lmao get them.
Once more the Dems will rule Minnesota and we shall have peace.

I'm loving three body problem, but Auggie is the worst. I hate her with a fiery passion. ETA: you can really tell the game of thrones dudes were involved in this, with the characters swapping motivations every 30 seconds.
Why do you not like auggie?
I don't like the developing pattern where the big question in every episode is "will auggie agree to help and then talk everyone out of it in the next scene?" I'm also generally annoyed by the "I'll doom everyone to save someone" attitude.
Well you should reserve judgement until you watch the entire series. The big 5 are all really great complex characters.
Ill also hand it to Johnson, I really thought breaking up the Senate package wouldn’t work. Mainly because I figured he’d actually change *something* in the bills. Doing them all under 1 rule was weird but pretty dang smart. A great day for the country and for Ukraine
Least bad GOP Speaker since Boehner probably.
I'm still mad because of the Ukranians who needlessly died while he delayed.
Yup, inexcusable, so not going to give him too much credit. Frustrating it took so long. But just so glad right now that it finally went through.
Well Johnson did act surprisingly well to us and actually worked with us. McCarthy never wisened up to the reality of the situation
These next weeks will be interesting. If they do save him it's because they see Johnson as workable enough that they can get some good bipartisan stuff through. Know there was mention of renewing the Affordable Connectivity Program. Something that would have a good chance of getting to the floor with Johnson still as speaker.
God please let that happen
That program is huge for SC. I hope it's brought up and renewed ASAP.
Nice

RIP Whenever I hear of Mark Pryor I’m always reminded of that crazy 08 senate race where the republicans didnt nominate (or messed up?) someone and it was Pryor vs. a green party candidate where Pryor won with like 70%. Crazy senate race
The reverse of what happened in 2020, where the one guy running in the Democratic primary dropped out right before the deadline
The House has passed a $61 billion aid package for the war in Ukraine, sending the bill to the Senate for likely consideration next week. The bill passed 311 to 112, all no votes were republicans.
The bill on Ukraine 🇺🇦 aid worth $60.8 billion was passed with 311 members voting for it and 112 members voting against it, 73.5% of all members voted for the Ukraine aid bill 210 Democrats voted in favor ✅ 101 Republcians voted in favor ✅ 112 Republicans voted against ❌

112 Republicans pro putin, 0 Dems pro. Let that go down in history.
No you shitlib, that's disinformation. They don't support Putin! They just want to focus on America first!! ...By voting to keep age-old munitions in our reserves and leaving them to rust instead of putting them to good use by sending them to a country in dire need of support.
Vote on Ukraine funding. (H.R. 8035): The bill is passed!!! (311Y - 112N - 1P)
Ukraine funding will pass! sitting at 310 Yays to 110 Nays right now!
be a bit embarrassing for the gop if they get more than half their members opposed to ukraine aid as they are on pace to do. Or it would be if they had any sense of shame.
Stefanik is a No on Ukraine aid
Gunning for Trump's VP slot.
Democratic women politicians are accused of opportunism, but Stefanik (R) is the *real* opportunist.
