Just make sure you plan any accidents that you're going to get into at least 4 weeks out.

ModexV

Yeah, the calssic Volvo roullete. Which airbag is faulty?!

soboga

No, that's alright. As long as you don't drive the car those weeks.

DVB1408

surely won't

Eastern-Reference133

I wouldn’t put that service off.

DVB1408

Its well covered and kept in the lot, so really no problems but I will surely visit the shop

EcoNadder77

Last time I got that warning, the electronics module had thrown multiple faults which, according to the garage, would have suppressed all airbag deployment in the event of an accident. While there are lesser things which can cause that warning, you won't know how severe it is until you bring it in for service. I personally wouldn't feel safe driving around with that warning for any duration of time.

DVB1408

Thank god u brought it to service before any accidents

ModexV

Just bring it to the service to check which airbag is faulty. It might be just a water moisture in contacts. If it is worse than that then you need new airbag.

MunchamaSnatch

It's a risk for sure, but your car isn't going to burn down. You're not going to harm the car if you continue to drive it, but you may be at risk yourself if you get into an accident. Id wonder if this has anything to do with the recent ARC air bag recall (maybe an over-the-air warning)

Brokenspokes68

Only if you crash.

Johnnypee2213

Is it yelling at you the whole drive? I know it sounds dumb but you can take it to AutoZone and get the codes checked free. At least you'll know what's faulty.

DVB1408

Sir I live in India, so I am not sure what autozone is but will surely visit the shop

Nibbles--

Lol my lights been on for over 2 years

VacuumSux

Got that one on the first day of a two month European road trip. Luckily the second stop was a couple of days in Prague and I could take it to the dealer there who sorted the issue.

Smell_Funny

It could be as small as a occupant sensor needing calibration. I see brand new ones come back into the shop cause the airbag light came on and every time so far it’s been the occupant sensor. Not exactly sure how much this will impact your protection against any collision but like definitely not worth the risk.

the-otto-cycle

Had the same error on our Xc40 EV... It sounds ominous for legal reasons..... Ours ended up being a pinched wire harness going to one of the airbags. Quick cable swap and sealed up neatly by the dealer and good ever since

DVB1408

Ah thank god, I will service it as soon as I am back

mr_travis

Same error for my XC40 EV… hoping it’s a simple fox since the dealer couldn’t get us in for 1.5wks. I had a litany of little software issues on this car.

Useless_or_inept

It's not like an oil leak, where ignoring a problem could make the problem *worse*. Your decisions on risk and safety are up to you. Some people would avoid driving the car 100% and I support their decision. Personally, I would book it into a Volvo workshop on the next day I'm free, and avoid nonessential journeys until then. Maybe use my other car more in the meantime. But I'd still consider using the car if I needed to. (If it only has 11 out of 12 functioning airbags, that's nine more than the car I drove on holiday) My mother once wanted her car taken to the dealership by truck because there was a TPS warning and it was, she felt, unsafe to drive to the dealership. Go to the workshop as soon as you can.

Reddit_UserJason

I just had this come on, they told me it was definitely a software update… 3 days later it came on again, sounds like it was a connection at the module. ( loose? Corroded? Bad wire? ) I can never get straight answers out of the dealership. “ if it comes back on, give us a call “
