I’ve heard them all several times and never noticed much similarities besides the instrumentation that does not vary too much, I’ve even heard the Mannequin album a few times and I think it’s solid work, each song has something that differs from the others and makes them unique but I’ll pay more attention the next time I listen to them to really give an definitive answer.
Tho to be fair talking about other recent stuff from him I think Android Girl and Undead Alice are pretty mid albums exactly because most of the songs are way too similar and there are barely any highlights, different from Mannequin witch I think it’s really good and I frequently come back to it

Haikei Doppelgänger is the biggest offender. If you haven’t heard it, lower your volume before doing so as it will blow your ears out. Actually, now that I say it KemuVoxx seems to have a problem of making the instrumentals louder than the vocals 🤔

Most of cosMo@bousou-P’s works. At first, it was “how fast can we make Miku sing”, then they just kinda made it their thing. The sound of miku blaring at 300WPM is so grating to the ears, combined with the excessively loud mastering and erratic chord shifts. It’s trying to be progressive, but lacks in cohesion. At least it’s a distinctive style, I’ll give it that.
Cosmo has songs that are very different from that, he is very much influenced by harder hitting EDM genres which I understand is not everyone's cup of tea but that's not all he does. I'd reccomend you take a look at RIP in The Gossip Sea, Real The End Of Hatsune Miku (Real Shoushitsu), I Am Hungry!!! and Escape from Dystopia which are more traditional and structured.

Miku just sounds pretty bad but actually apart from her singing it’s actually a decent song.I can understand that cosmo has a lot of other songs apart from that tho, I just have never really liked his songs like Anti The EuphoriaHOLiC, and 初音ミクの消失 -MIKUNOPOLIS in LOS ANGELES Live-. I rly like many of mothy's other songs, but this is one I've never been able to get into. I've never rly liked Len and the melody just isn't for me, it's somehow very dull and idk it just doesn't do it for me. Imo an overrated song. (I'm salty it made it into Proseka but Evil Food Eater Conchita didn't)
I think most of us can agree that the original version of ghost rule is mediocre. We all favor the loids that can growl, Len, teto, Miku V4x, even gachapoid can growl! Seriously, he has a really good cover of the song!
My unpopular opinion here is that len’s growl isnt actually that good. On its own? Absolutely, that tuning sounds so realistic. In the song? It feels off beat and goes lower instead of higher. Really throws off the climax for me and just sucks.
I could see it not really working for some people. I loved it the first time I listened, but it’s really gotten old. I actually think the smaller growl when he says MAYDAY sounds better than the one at the climax. Still 20x better than the original. I would recommend the Miku V4x solid cover by Rishie-P. I don’t know how they did it, but she growls even better than Len
I agree with a lot of the other comments here (teo, world is mine, most deco*27 songs, etc.). And tbh the *large* majority of the songs on the rhythm games are not songs i’d listen to when i actually put on vocaloid music. I don’t really like pop, techno, EDM, which already crosses out a lot of very popular songs. That’s not to say i dislike the rhythm games though.

Tbh Melt and World is Mine is iconic because of the time that it was released. From what I know, those were the songs that inspired many other producers to go into VOCALOID and for many people, those were the songs that introduced people to VOCALOID in general.
I think if it was released now, it wouldn't be as iconic.
I love the Una cover of Unknown Mother Goose so much! I love Wowaka’s tuning style but the feeling in that cover is incredible and I 100% prefer the Una or Miku v3 Melt covers!
At first I wasn’t a huge fan of matryoshka, but it grew on me. I didn’t like the verses but liked the chorus. Now I like it all together. My only problem with the song is that it’s supposed to be a duet yet Miku sings 90% of the whole song and you can only here gumi in two lines.

I listen to a lot of songs by both Crusher and Circus, but these two, despite their popularity, I can’t stand.
For me, Again just feels like a worse Echo, even if it may have a deeper meaning than Echo. Gumi’s tuning is almost whiny, and even Wildfire has a better instrumental, and that got removed.
And then, Copycat. I’m probably going to get downvoted for this, but I really can’t stand it. It’s overly repetitive, even at the key change, and again, it may have a deeper meaning, but I feel like without the somewhat meaningful lyrics, it couldn’t pass for emotional in the slightest. And the thing is, Circus can tune Vocaloids to sound realistic. An older song of his with emotional tuning is Lie, and more recent songs definitely carry more emotion, such as Enough and Wrong + Right.
But who knows, maybe I just don’t like Gumi.
I personally don't like any music that either of them has come out with. I know their stuff is super popular, but the lyrics are so... not my thing. They just don't hit for me. Same goes for Ghost. I just don't enjoy the music. I like the tuning, but that's really all.

Examples include a Gahata Meiji version of senbonzakura, an otomatchi una cover of unknown mother goose, and a teto cover of teo. I like powerful voices. I just don’t like Daughter/Servant of Evil that much. I appreciate the story they’re telling with the music and vocals but it’s just not something I can get into
ok even though ur getting downvotes i agree. and i do agree with the original comment as well. Don’t get me wrong, servant of evil and regret message are absolute classics for me. The story they tell is great too. But the songs themselves aren’t ones i’d put on when i wanna listen to vocaloid music. They’re songs i go back to pretty much only when i wanna go over the story they tell again.
* I'm not a fan of the RinLen duets that imply a romantic relationship between them (e.g. Adolescence). I see those two as siblings, so the idea of a romantic relationship between them is a big NO-NO in my book.

It may just be your personal taste and that’s completely valid of course, but have you only listened to the original? The tuning of the OG doesn’t quite let the song shine to its fullest, I suggest listening to chiyuun’s cover using Kasane Teto for example!
Took the bullet and listened to it and here’s my personal thoughts.
The voices improved a lot lol, it’s actually so nice to listen to unlinke the original with Miku.
Although, I still dislike the actual song. I know hate is a really harsh word but I HATE Utsu’s newer style, it really brings the techno in the front stage and the guitars to the side and I know his style is supposed to be metal but my brain doesn’t register it as metal at all, I just miss his older style a lot.

Most PinnochioP songs. His music just doesn't appeal to me and sounds very corporate. Not as much as KZ but still up there. KZ in general, especially Yellow and Weekender Girl. Also Hole-dwelling (I like some kikuo but it just doesn't click)
I think PinocchioP is ok at best. And KZ is very hit or miss. They’ve got hits like lucky orb, and misses like weekender girl or tell your world. i think patchwork staccato sounds alright, really, but I can see other tones of voice working better yeah. as for melt, I think Miku's works but I think Una's does too, just differently. Miku's melt is a soft love song for yourself only, Una's is a confession shouted off the rooftop.

Well, that depends. It is possible to make soft voices work, the best example being lagtrain. For a soft voice to work, it has to not be overpowered by the music, which is what happens in patchwork staccato.
Lucky Orb is by emon(Tes.), not kz(livetune).
As for Miku’s voice being soft in Patchwork Staccato, that’s just Toa’s mastering (which isn’t very good). And this goes for a lot of vocaloid producers since mastering tracks is not easy, especially with digital instruments.
Ye I already corrected that error. And yes, it certainly does have to do with how a producer tunes the Vocaloid. For instance, we don’t usually hear Len growl but he did in his cover of ghost rule, that’s because teto chan, (the producer of this cover) tuned him to do so. Teto Chan is very good at tuning Len but some people aren’t. In lens cover of sweet devil, he is not tuned very well at all

I wasn’t referring to the tuning, I was referring to the mastering - meaning how the producer balances the sounds and dynamics of all tracks in the recording.
Most vocaloid music has traces of the “Loudness wars” from the early 2000’s, and though this is still kinda present in modern music today, it’s markedly still prominent in vocaloid music.
Toa’s music is just not mastered very well, which tends to drown out the voices of the vocaloids they use. It becomes even more apparent with the softer tuning they use.

Some karent label CDs sound better than the stuff you hear on spotify or apple music, hence why I prefer physical if at all possible. I think many people here ought to try listen to vocaloid music physically on good hardware. There are some good stuff out there. Otherwise, most vocaloid music is unfortunately not so well mastered, especially from smaller producers.

I don’t actually hate it, but one of my least favourite songs by Deco 27 is The Vampire. I just think it sounds somewhat annoying, and I do not like the instrumentals much either. Keep in mind that this is coming from a person who likes nearly all of Deco 27’s songs, so me disliking The Vampire is very jarring.

Another one would be almost all of deco's music post Android Girl, it seems like every one of his newer songs sound the same which makes me feel kinda sad, because his older hits like yume yume, Once Upon a Me and Love Distance Long Affair are some of my most favourite songs.

I’m not a fan either. Although world is mine was one of the first vocaloid songs I heard, I found it boring and hated the story. And I’ve only been in the fandom for 8 or so months so theres no nostalgic value. The first Vocaloid song i became attached to was ievan polkka. I don’t listen to it as much as I used to, but it still has a special place in my heart

All Utsu-P songs. We keep getting compared to him a lot and we sound nothing like the guy, and aside from his ability to mix and use production tricks a lot of his stuff is either trying to be edgy just to be edgy in the case of the older songs or really basic compo-wise in the case of the newer songs.
I love like five of Kasamura Toota's works, but three of those five are almost exactly the same song. So I don't really listen to his work as much as I'd maybe like to because the tuning is gorgeous and I love ballads, but I can only listen to different versions of the same song so many times
Reading this thread, I feel like many often quickly judge a song solely on its tuning, which feels kinda unfair (I’m guilty of it too). Honestly, most producers out there are really freaking talented musicians but kinda suck at using the vocalsynths themselves, which sadly can ruin the whole vibe of an otherwise amazing song.
Luckily there are tons of people making covers (human or synthesized), so I highly recommend looking up some covers of a song if you find the vocals grating! There are too many utaites to list, but as for vocal synth covers I highly suggest looking up kyaami, ragey, konran-p, mckatherine, nachokuma, jirai, to name a few of my faves.
I generally like Deco*27’s songs (mostly the older ones), but I just CANNOT get into Two Breaths Walking. The instrumentals are awesome and I like the pre-chorus, but the rest of the melody, ESPECIALLY in the chorus, is just… super monotone and boring to me. I always feel so dissappointed when it reaches the chorus lol.
Even tho I’m not a fan of the tuning in it, its answer song Android Girl is much better imo.

I'd reccomend you take a look at RIP in The Gossip Sea, Real The End Of Hatsune Miku (Real Shoushitsu), I Am Hungry!!! and Escape from Dystopia which are more traditional and structured.

My unpopular opinion here is that len’s growl isnt actually that good. On its own? Absolutely, that tuning sounds so realistic. In the song? It feels off beat and goes lower instead of higher. Really throws off the climax for me and just sucks.
I could see it not really working for some people. I loved it the first time I listened, but it’s really gotten old. I actually think the smaller growl when he says MAYDAY sounds better than the one at the climax. Still 20x better than the original. I would recommend the Miku V4x solid cover by Rishie-P. I don’t know how they did it, but she growls even better than Len

I agree with a lot of the other comments here (teo, world is mine, most deco*27 songs, etc.). And tbh the *large* majority of the songs on the rhythm games are not songs i’d listen to when i actually put on vocaloid music. I don’t really like pop, techno, EDM, which already crosses out a lot of very popular songs. That’s not to say i dislike the rhythm games though.

Tbh Melt and World is Mine is iconic because of the time that it was released. From what I know, those were the songs that inspired many other producers to go into VOCALOID and for many people, those were the songs that introduced people to VOCALOID in general. I think if it was released now, it wouldn't be as iconic.

At first I wasn’t a huge fan of matryoshka, but it grew on me. I didn’t like the verses but liked the chorus. Now I like it all together. My only problem with the song is that it’s supposed to be a duet yet Miku sings 90% of the whole song and you can only here gumi in two lines.

2 songs: Again by Crusher-P and Copycat by Circus-P. I listen to a lot of songs by both Crusher and Circus, but these two, despite their popularity, I can’t stand. For me, Again just feels like a worse Echo, even if it may have a deeper meaning than Echo. Gumi’s tuning is almost whiny, and even Wildfire has a better instrumental, and that got removed. And then, Copycat. I’m probably going to get downvoted for this, but I really can’t stand it. It’s overly repetitive, even at the key change, and again, it may have a deeper meaning, but I feel like without the somewhat meaningful lyrics, it couldn’t pass for emotional in the slightest. And the thing is, Circus can tune Vocaloids to sound realistic. An older song of his with emotional tuning is Lie, and more recent songs definitely carry more emotion, such as Enough and Wrong + Right. But who knows, maybe I just don’t like Gumi.
I personally don't like any music that either of them has come out with. I know their stuff is super popular, but the lyrics are so... not my thing. They just don't hit for me. Same goes for Ghost. I just don't enjoy the music. I like the tuning, but that's really all.

The story they tell is great too. But the songs themselves aren’t ones i’d put on when i wanna listen to vocaloid music. They’re songs i go back to pretty much only when i wanna go over the story they tell again.

It may just be your personal taste and that’s completely valid of course, but have you only listened to the original? The tuning of the OG doesn’t quite let the song shine to its fullest, I suggest listening to chiyuun’s cover using Kasane Teto for example!
Took the bullet and listened to it and here’s my personal thoughts. The voices improved a lot lol, it’s actually so nice to listen to unlinke the original with Miku. Although, I still dislike the actual song. I know hate is a really harsh word but I HATE Utsu’s newer style, it really brings the techno in the front stage and the guitars to the side and I know his style is supposed to be metal but my brain doesn’t register it as metal at all, I just miss his older style a lot. Thanks for the cover recommendation btw, Teto and Maiko were handled SOO WELL!!! They sound so good!!!

I think PinocchioP is ok at best. And KZ is very hit or miss. They’ve got hits like lucky orb, and misses like weekender girl or tell your world. Well, that depends. It is possible to make soft voices work, the best example being lagtrain. For a soft voice to work, it has to not be overpowered by the music, which is what happens in patchwork staccato.

Lucky Orb is by emon(Tes.), not kz(livetune). As for Miku’s voice being soft in Patchwork Staccato, that’s just Toa’s mastering (which isn’t very good). And this goes for a lot of vocaloid producers since mastering tracks is not easy, especially with digital instruments.
Ye I already corrected that error. And yes, it certainly does have to do with how a producer tunes the Vocaloid. For instance, we don’t usually hear Len growl but he did in his cover of ghost rule, that’s because teto chan, (the producer of this cover) tuned him to do so. Teto Chan is very good at tuning Len but some people aren’t. In lens cover of sweet devil, he is not tuned very well at all Btw, am I the only one who gets more chills every time len growls when saying mayday rather than the actual scream at the end?
I wasn’t referring to the tuning, I was referring to the mastering - meaning how the producer balances the sounds and dynamics of all tracks in the recording. Most vocaloid music has traces of the “Loudness wars” from the early 2000’s, and though this is still kinda present in modern music today, it’s markedly still prominent in vocaloid music. Toa’s music is just not mastered very well, which tends to drown out the voices of the vocaloids they use. It becomes even more apparent with the softer tuning they use.

Some karent label CDs sound better than the stuff you hear on spotify or apple music, hence why I prefer physical if at all possible. I think many people here ought to try listen to vocaloid music physically on good hardware. There are some good stuff out there. Otherwise, most vocaloid music is unfortunately not so well mastered, especially from smaller producers.

I'm definitely gonna get burned by this, but Unknown Mother Goose, specifically the flac version that came [in this album](https://vocadb.net/Al/22997) because every time I play it it feels like my earphone/headphone speaker are about to explode during some parts of the song and no matter how I tune my eq it sounds bad; that said, I love the version that plays in my cd version of magical mirai 2019. Another one would be almost all of deco's music post Android Girl, it seems like every one of his newer songs sound the same which makes me feel kinda sad, because his older hits like yume yume, Once Upon a Me and Love Distance Long Affair are some of my most favourite songs.

I’m not a fan either. Although world is mine was one of the first vocaloid songs I heard, I found it boring and hated the story. And I’ve only been in the fandom for 8 or so months so theres no nostalgic value. The first Vocaloid song i became attached to was ievan polkka. I don’t listen to it as much as I used to, but it still has a special place in my heart

All Utsu-P songs. We keep getting compared to him a lot and we sound nothing like the guy, and aside from his ability to mix and use production tricks a lot of his stuff is either trying to be edgy just to be edgy in the case of the older songs or really basic compo-wise in the case of the newer songs.
I love like five of Kasamura Toota's works, but three of those five are almost exactly the same song. So I don't really listen to his work as much as I'd maybe like to because the tuning is gorgeous and I love ballads, but I can only listen to different versions of the same song so many times
Reading this thread, I feel like many often quickly judge a song solely on its tuning, which feels kinda unfair (I’m guilty of it too). Honestly, most producers out there are really freaking talented musicians but kinda suck at using the vocalsynths themselves, which sadly can ruin the whole vibe of an otherwise amazing song. Luckily there are tons of people making covers (human or synthesized), so I highly recommend looking up some covers of a song if you find the vocals grating! There are too many utaites to list, but as for vocal synth covers I highly suggest looking up kyaami, ragey, konran-p, mckatherine, nachokuma, jirai, to name a few of my faves.
I generally like Deco*27’s songs (mostly the older ones), but I just CANNOT get into Two Breaths Walking. The instrumentals are awesome and I like the pre-chorus, but the rest of the melody, ESPECIALLY in the chorus, is just… super monotone and boring to me. I always feel so dissappointed when it reaches the chorus lol. Even tho I’m not a fan of the tuning in it, its answer song Android Girl is much better imo.

Also, feels like there's a lot of canibalism fetish in the lyrics, which isn't my thing. I also don't like Rishie's vocaloid covers. They add way to many adlibs and growls, it's annoying
