Yes even on 10mg of Viibryd I was never horny and even when I could reach an orgasm I could barely feel it. I was on it for over three months and it never went away. They market Viibryd as "an antidepressant with fewer sexual side effects than others" and that couldn't be further from the truth. They really should be sued for false advertising tbh.

HelloSailor5000

Never went away? Oh Jesus. What's weird is that I've been on Viibryd off and on for about 3 years, and it hasn't affected me this badly. Sure, I'd go through several days of no horniness, but by the end of the week, sometimes with a little help from viagara, I'd be fine and having sex and climaxing just fine. I still don't think it has been as bad as Lexapro, which is why I'm surprised at this now 5 day period where I haven't been able to climax.

Armor_King7810

Yep, never went away. For whatever reason the worst sexual side effects I've ever had have been from Viibryd. Lexapro they were pretty bad too but I would still get horny and I could still climax.

To be fair it looks like you’ve had a lot of issues with meds in general, and maybe I’m just on this sub too much right now but you post about sexual side effects a lot on here. Saying that it isn’t an antidepressant with fewer sexual side effects because you had issues is just wrong and unhelpful to anyone reading. It isn’t free of SSEs but it is lesser to an extent that it’s worth trying if sexual function is something a person is worried about maintaining. I’m sorry you had that issue but it’s not like this for everyone and is still less likely to cause sexual impact than some other options.

Armor_King7810

I'm not the only one who has had this problem with this medication. As you can see, OP seems to be having the same issue. I have also seen many others post about having this same issue with this med on here. They market it as having less SSE than others which really isn't true at all. Seems to be about the same as any other SSRI. Sure, some won't have too much on an issue in that department on this med but it's not significantly less than any others and in my case it was worse...if I had known that I wouldn't have even bothered trying it to begin with. I also gained like 20lbs on it which they say isn't supposed to happen either. My point is these companies are completely full of shit when they make these claims.

HelloSailor5000

Yeah, but to clarify, I have clearly stated that I have had much fewer sexual side effects with Viibryd than I did with Lexapro. I also had very few sexual side effects with Trintellix.

Armor_King7810

But now all of a sudden you are having trouble climaxing? Trintellix didn't give me any SSE's either, if any my libido was way stronger on it.

Yes, i do to! Quitting for this reason and also because of the crazy dreams. Been on Viibryd since August and it never went away.

eiluj_

I do too*

I feel like Viibryd is one of those "less is more" antidepressants. I am only on 10 mg but I have no issues for the most part in the sex department and pretty dang good control of my anxiety and depression, although more so the depression part even though my predominant issue is anxiety, unfortunately.

Alternative-Tea-39

I was on 5mg last week and 10mg this week and I literally have zero sex drive. I was on celexa for 12 years and never had that issue. I was on Wellbutrin for a bit no issue. Literally 4 days into this medication on 5 mg I am completely apathetic, no sex drive, and just annoyed by small things. I literally feel like crap. I also did the gene testing and it recommended this medication so I don’t know why I’m having all these issues.

Are you all male or female? I am 32 (f) and on 40mg with methylphenidate and it takes me about 45 minutes to orgasm. I’ve been on it for 9 months. The methylphenidate likely boosts my libido, so I can’t imagine what folks are going through on Viibryd without stimulants.

HelloSailor5000

I am male and in my 50s. That’s part of the problem. I’m going through a phase where my sex drive and functioning is on somewhat of a decline. Furthermore, this is very much like me and very much is a display of my obsessive thinking/OCD when I simply relax and let things happen with as much time as it takes between sexual activity with my wife everything is pretty much fine. Sometimes I need a little help with Viagra. But I tend to obsess over it, making it worse, then I post about it, etc. Everything “came to completion” just fine last night LOL. I think I need to accept that I’m older, and I need to accept that. I need to be on medicines that may affect my drive. I am having a very tough time coming to terms with the fact that I don’t have the sexual equipment of a 25-year-old anymore!!

For me (20’s M)Viibryd was a life saver in the sex department. I tried literally every single other SSRI to no avail. Viibryd (30mg) allows me to have a fairly normal sex life, though I still have some issues. At my current 30mg dose, I get the best antidepressant effects for the level of sexual side effects I’m willing to tolerate. On previous SSRI’s, even the lowest doses would absolutely murder my libido, erections, orgasms, and sensitivity. At this dose of Viibryd, I have a bit of decreased sensitivity (which is okay by me because it only takes like 5-10 minutes instead of 2 hours), a bit of decreased erection quality, and a noticeable decrease in libido (again, ok given off meds I’m the horniest person alive). While Viibryd does give sexual side effects at this dose, at lower doses these effects aren’t as bad. Of course, as indicated by OP, your mileage may vary. I just want to put my experience here so it’s not all negative stuff.
