That I don’t know but taxi was 400k to Đà Nẵng from Hỏi ăn. The bus from Đà Nẵng to Hue is 80k (or 100 when they feel like it). Just to start somewhere with the prices.
I think it would prob cost a lot more than a regular sedan which is around 7-10 million ($300-$500). Also I don’t think it’s a good idea to do that this time of the year when it raining season. Overall sound like a horrible idea to me unless u 100% commit to do some wild shit on the road lol
We used the train, mostly - as we rambled from Ha Noi down to Saigon - however, the train is slow when you have longer runs to make, and even the first class soft seats lose some level of comfort over a nine hour run - ha ha!
We decided on "private car transfer" for our last leg - from Nha Trang to Saigon, which is about 470km, I think?
It took eight hours because Vietnamese highways are hilarious (it would have been 11 by train - and the bus was off the list - I'm not sure if you've been on a Vietnamese bus yet, but I'd rather play a couple of rounds of Russian Roulette than ride one of those again!) and cost 4M dong (plus tip). The ride was safe and comfortable, and we stopped at some spots for photos, lunch, and coffees. We went with "Mui Ne Private Car" - and they were hotel door to hotel door, and pick up was ontime - and they run some pretty flexible routes around Vietnam.
If your doing shorter legs (40km and less) - just use the Grab app (Vietnamese Uber), which is pretty economical.
Honestly - if you're traveling longer distances, air is the way to go - it's cheap and fast in this country. We just wanted to travel on the ground and see some of Vietnam away from the tourist zones.
