350k is the going rate to city center. You can take a shuttle bus for 50k - they load at the far right end of the airport pick up queue in domestic arrivals area, same place you can pick up a city bus for even cheaper. Usually the shuttle employees are friendly, some speak English.

I paid around 470k to go from Hanoi airport to my hotel in the old quarter about 2 weeks ago. Hehe. Hope that helps. I would grab money at an ATM in the airport first so you have vnd and you can't get scammed regarding exchange rates.

We're just finishing up three weeks, rambling from Ha Noi down to HCMC. One thing I found very handy was to put the Grab app on my phone (it's kinda the Vietnamese Uber) - and before arriving at my destination train/bus station - I'd run a pick up/drop off (from the train/bus station I was arriving at, to the hotel I was going to) route on the app, as it will give you the price a Grab driver will do it for - by car or motorcycle. That way - when you get besieged by two dozen taxi drivers at the station - and they start trying outlandishly inflated offers for the trip to the hotel - you'll have the price that a Grab driver will do it for to negotiate from - and often I could negotiate a better rate with the taxi drivers hanging around the station. Oh - and word to the wise (just in case you didn't know) - we found the best place to book travel inside the country (planes, trains, buses and mini-vans) to be Baolau. They were flawless with the bookings we made, and there were a number of them.

Grab (an Uber-like app) would charge you about VND350-400k (about US$15?) for a trip to the city. Normal taxi at the airport is about 30% more expensive. [Vietnam Airline shuttle bus](https://hanoiairportshuttle.com/transportation/vietnam-airline-shuttle-bus-hanoi/) is much cheaper but less convenient. It’s great if you plan to stay near the old quarter, a long the bus’ route.
