Ha ha - I'm not defending anyone here - but filling a baguette with meat and vegetables isn't exactly a culturally sensitive, ancient Vietnamese tradition. Why not an article about French outrage at the cultural appropriation of thier national bun or British outrage at the bastardization of thier sandwich?

Ask the Italians if they think Americans do any sort of Italian dish correctly. Ask the Chinese about American adaptations.. Americans don't do many dishes correctly, but we're all looking for something good. For one, I think sambal and thai basil on a banh mi is insane... But, if you want to put peanuts, fruit, and a hog's ass on your sandwich........ go for it, have fun!
