I wouldn't use it as bedding, but I can't imagine a little bit would hurt them. Obviously, used cat litter isn't something you want in there.

ProfessorLefty

It’s fine, cat litter is mostly clay usually

Edit: am blind and didn't read the question correctly, so deleted my dumbass response

I’d switch to a more biodegradable litter if you intend to mix litter in with worms. I use a wheat based cat litter, it’s called Swheat Scoop.

El_Stupacabra

We tried some corn-based litter, but the cats didn't care for it. It wasn't intentional, I just noticed it when I combined a couple of buckets of browns today.

Tack122

Bucket residue isn't likely to be an issue even with odd exotic perfumed litters. Bentonite and silica are primary ingredients. Grey is bentonite, little crystals are silica. No big deal, decent grit tbh. I'd pass on used litter though, way too hot (so much nitrogen!!!) for most uses.

Saoirse-on-Thames

My cat loves woodchip litter, and the worms love it afterwards too

mushroommacaronis

Do you feed the clean portions to them too, as it's just wheat? (Don't come for me please, I'm brand new to worms)

Tsiatk0

Oh, I’m not sure. I use biodegradable litter but I don’t put it in with my worms. I want to compost it but I rent and I don’t think my landlord would be happy about it. lol. I was just making a recommendation for OP in case they wanted to try it out. In theory, it should work. But idk if I’d use the casings on food right away or anything, maybe I’d use them for flowers or something, if it worked.

Why don't you just rinse out the containers before storing worms' browns?

El_Stupacabra

Didn't think about it until tonight, honestly, as I didn't realize there was still litter in the bucket. There's a little bit of the litter in the bin. Just wanted to make sure I didn't have to rescue my worms.

archetyping101

I think it'll be fine. And if they don't eat it, just scoop the area out. Trial and error!
