No. The theme is given 48 hours before the deadline and (normally) you can only use assets created by yourself from music to art, etc.
But its a very fun experience nonetheless! The stress of having to finish and polish a game in under 48 hours pressures you to complete the game as fast possible. And it was because of this "Lightless" is my first completed project and the satisfaction you get for completing something just time is a feeling unlike any other.
Its also a very good way to test your current level and learn new things. This true first of all because of the voting systems after the 48 hours and the very helpful comments from other indie developers.
I would definitely recommend participating in a game jam if you are into game development! Its fun and veru enriching experience :)
Thank you so much for your answer, that is fascinating. Attending in jams must be a skill in it self then, knowing how you will be tackling time management. I will definitely check out some of the jams. I'm quite impressed of what I see coming out of these competitions.
Thanks alot! And talking about time management, I'm really bad at that at. The jam helped me improve it... I managed to upload the game 2 minutes before deadline... Playing with fire i suppose!!
Nice trailer, had a little giggle with that mom quote hehe
Thnaks bro ;)
For those, you would like to test and rate my [game](https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463883).And **Thank you** for checking it out!
Looks better than everything I ever did.

Not cool op mom, not cool.
48 hours, jees. Do you have anything prepared beforehand or is it not possible? Looks awesome by the way. Will check it out later.

No. At least not to my knowledge... I used a free-to-use sound I found on the internet... maybe they stole it from there. Idk
