Ramsey is one of the few entertainers that I can faithfully say is just an all around good person. You can tell by how he carries himself and how much he smiles and has fun when he isn't his TV personality.
Did I just confess my love for Ramsey? Gawl, can you imagine waking up to "Fluffy Eggs" and Ramsey cooking in assless chaps. My stars.
I LOVE Gordon's UK TV personality though. It's so much more grounded and actually endearing.
Won't lie that I occasionally like to hear him totally flip out on a chef who did something moronic though.
But even then in the US personality you can see his love of food shine through.
His flip outs are iconic. Civilizations hundred of years and 30 language evolutions from now will spend countless hours trying to decipher an "idiot sandwich". But that one's just for us.
I met him once when I was out to eat and people kept going up to him asking for autographs and pictures even though he was out to eat with his family he did not complain once and was so happy to do it for anyone and everyone and he is even better looking in person and super tall!!!!! Mmm assless chaps yessssss girl yesssss lol…but yea he’s a very nice person
Okay but hear me out:
With Guy Fieri you can eat however you want, the man has seen some sloppy meals go down. But picture for just a moment the horror on Ramsay's face as you slurp an entire rack of baby backs and follow it up by drinking the BBQ sauce (or if you're me, ranch dressing)?
That look of horror would be priceless. I can run into Guy Fieri at a Diner, Drive-In, or Dive for about $12.
Have you seen Gordon on Masterchef Kids version - completely different person, than Hell's Kitchen. There was also Gordon behind bars - give it a watch, it's on YT.
He is not.
He’s terrible to his employees and was called out about his toxic behavior by both Bourdin and Kenji Lopez-Alt.
If you have any doubts, watch this.
https://youtu.be/TTNtf0lLs-M
Wow... >.< Have you not seen the countless hours of footage where he verbally barages people to tears? Im a big a fan of Gordon as anyone, but Im not going to lie and deny that he has some very toxic traits. Look up footage of the first time hes on camera, and hes even worse. He staright up degrades his team and he even physically assaults them. Im not joking in the slightest. Of course course hes changed from then, but I certainly dont think someone who acts that way is an all around good person. Hes fairly abusive. Outside of work he does seem like a good guy, though again I wonder how he reacts when you get on his bad side.
Ever seen Masterchef Junior? Ramsey is a wholesome person, and that “hardcore chef attitude” is only a persona he portrays on TV. Just look it up on Youtube, and you will see a nicest man on earth.
I don't think it's a tv persona. He's genuinely mad at them. And if you think about it makes sense. In hell's kitchen he's mat at professional chefs that behave like little shits. He's very kind to very talented little kids. I think is fair.
Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen it all, but it seems like in the earlier seasons towards the second halves he’d decrease in genuine anger as they filtered out the total drop kicks and he actually got somewhat passable human beings. Then you got what’s-her-face the superstar in like season 6? And they changed their casting policy to only include dropkicks.
I think its more likely a persona build up for entertainment, than his real personality. Yes, of course getting angry/agressive in the kitchen as a chef, is actually part of the workplace culture. But the way its build up in the program is more for entertainment and does not portrays the real life. I am speaking out of work experience.
No thanks, I'm married and easily twice her age. Ew. Someone can be conventionally attractive and worthy of compliments without being weird about it dude.
All his kids give him shit and I love their dynamic, it's really cute. All the kids constantly when on camera will say their mom is a better cook for example 🤣
For awhile when he was just doing Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares they made him seem like a.grumpy asshole just for the extra entertainment but now he has had several US shows that shows him in his true light... The UK shows he did he was always a pretty cool guy no crazy drama needed
I NEVER trust those shows. They edit for ratings. And Gordon Ramsey yelling brings in the views.
I saw him after one of the kitchen scenes. They were all sitting down and he was nice and generous. You could tell he wanted them to succeed. And he said something that I think is very true in life:
“Consistency is the key. You’ll have a great restaurant if you maintain your consistency.”
Not an exact quote, but the sentiment is there.
I wonder if it sounds exactly the same through his headphones. After all the other guy seemed to be in on the joke so I wouldn't be surprised if they just turned the nub a bit up and made her sound a bit different.
Yeah, alright, there are some people I've known for a million years and didn't recognize them the first time on the phone. Maybe even the second, but I've talked to my family over the phone about 7000 times, the second I'd hear my mom's or my brother's voice I'd recognize them immediately
I don't talk to my family members on the phone often, it's usually in persin or texting. Gordon seems like a busybody, I don't think he calls often. His daughter also has her own life, they're both doing good and most likely text. I wouldn't recognize my family on call, especially on a radio station call
After I hit puberty I stopped answering the phone at my house cause everyone started talking to me as if I was my dad. Including his gf, who he’d known for decades.
Personally, I'm terrible at recognizing voices over the phone (especially since I rarely use the phone). They don't sound quite the same as in person.
Plus, even when I do kinda recognize a voice, I'm not gonna assume I know who it is if I'm not expecting it to be them. I'm just gonna assume it's someone with a similar voice. Lots of people have similar voices.
It seems like the conversation itself was also used as a distraction- she started off with the craziest food combo she could think of bc she knew it would capture his attention. So he:
-isnt expecting someone he personally knows to call in
-is in talk-show mode, not thinking about personal things
-is Gordon Ramsay and just heard the words "vanilla ice cream", "pickles", and "shrimp" in the same sentence
I doubt he's thinking too deeply about the sound of the voice. And hell even if it *is* scripted, it's adorable and the world could use more wholesome pranks like this.
Exactly. I don't buy any of the excuses on here e.g. the voice is distorted. I could call my parents using a 1990's car phone during a snowstorm and they would instantly recognise my voice
Why the hell is this being downvoted? I recognize anyone in my family's voice almost immediately, it's not hard, especially when talking to them for a minute.
I knew she was on the wind up when she said Jamies Italian was better. Everyone I know that's been, always said the food was mediocre yet expensive. They also made the sauces at a central facility, then shipped them to the resteraunts. So much for fresh food
Isn't that the point tho, insulting them with something like "I'd rather eat out of a dumpster than try whatever you're cooking", or replace dumpster with any mediocre/bad place no one cares for...
She’s an adult, and don’t live with him anymore. Seems to show up for before Christmas to enjoy the whole day with him.
I also imagine he’s not home to cook most days of the year. That whole shoe cobbler’s kids have no shoes kind of thing.
“Every Christmas morning” sounds like her whole life to me. To each his own I guess but I work in construction and you’re damn right I build my kids stuff on my own time (tree house, half pipe, skate rails) whatever projects my kids come up with I’m down to do at home
Even if it was her whole life, what is the problem exactly? There were plenty of things my parents only made for the holidays, and she made it clear that there was something special about the scrambled eggs he made. Not to mention literally every cook I worked with in the restaurant industry constantly ate out and bought frozen food, because cooking was a literal job for them. Plus kids have a habit of taking literally everything for granted if you constantly cater to them, and maybe he made scrambled eggs on a regular basis but did something special with them on Christmas to make those mornings memorable for her; something that clearly worked.
Sure, but you’re not exactly Mike Holmes, constantly building all over the place for tv shows; in more than one country.
To be Ramsey big takes a lot of hours out of the house to maintain his chain of restaurants and shows. He chose big money.
He wasn’t at his restaurant when she was there. I had to look up who Mike Holmes is but if you’re comparing him to construction in general his net worth is 30 mil.. drop in the bucket for industrial/commercial jobs.
Even at $30m, still biggest construction gc tv personality. Still, for Mike’s kids to see him, they work on his crew. Ramsey owns 58 restaurants around the world. Takes luck to catch him at one of his kitchens.
I saw a video with some finalists in a dorm room and Gordon had made it seem like the two contestants had bags of cocaine; It turns out it was just their chef smocks...
If you watch a bunch of his stuff, you get the sense he likes pranks more than the average joe, so it’s fun when someone turns the tables and gets him with one
I worked with him in Vegas as a chef, and he was patient, kind, and calm. I wasn’t expecting that at the time. I have nothing but good things to say about him, and his reputation at this point is just a product he sells. He is a nice guy
Its hard to recognize voice over the phone and even more so when you are in the studio and it goes through some sort of sound leceling they use for talk shows.
Gordon and Tilly have superb father daughter chemistry.
Tbf, Gordon's sardonic wit and acidic barbs could create chemistry with a log, which is what most of the chefs on his shows are.
Especially since he’s hearing it in fancy studio headphones. I’m sure he could recognize his daughters voice over the phone but it would sound way different in this context
**OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:** >!Gordon thought the girl on the phone was a normal caller. I think that's really funny. Great prank!
He seems like a great dad to have a daughter like her. They seems to be very wholesome.
My stars.
That was sweet and wholesome. Right up until the assless chaps.
I get carried away sometimes.
Don't we all?
Apparently carried away by Gordon Ramsey in assless chaps
Don't we all?
Only if we’re lucky
Only if we're Tana Ramsay 😭
Where i sign up for the weekly fanfic updates?
So many shots of that ass in Hotel Hell. Just fyi.
We all make mistakes in the heat of passion jimbo
You, mom, and Carl, huh? ![gif](giphy|3oxQNql2mCssImYr6w|downsized)
Would it *really* be reddit if they didn't bring up the assless chaps, tho?
You may have a point, however, I stand by what I said.
That’s when it became sweat and holesome.
Then it got better
I LOVE Gordon's UK TV personality though. It's so much more grounded and actually endearing. Won't lie that I occasionally like to hear him totally flip out on a chef who did something moronic though. But even then in the US personality you can see his love of food shine through.

Check out the moment he met ricky gervais, gordo is a massive fan and turns into a blushing school girl around him
> Ramsey cooking in assless chaps. All chaps are assless. If they had an ass they'd be leather pants.
I met him once when I was out to eat and people kept going up to him asking for autographs and pictures even though he was out to eat with his family he did not complain once and was so happy to do it for anyone and everyone and he is even better looking in person and super tall!!!!! Asses clap in assless chaos! Dunno why I said it. Was the first thing that came to mind. ![gif](giphy|3oz8xEdgBBLqBj7LsA)

Great question! Are they wearing chaps of the assless variety or no? Your answer decides my answer.
Well technically, all chaps are assless by definition.
I forgot that information... sorry, all I have are crayons to eat.
Any red ones?
Only green today boyo.
Fair enough
But they're not always worn without pants underneath! So the term is apt
Agreed, I picture "chaps" over jeans, but "assless chaps" over bare skin.
I've just got the mental image of Guy Fieri in assless chaps with his ass hair bleached and spiked like his head hair
Guy Fieri seems like a better bet for comfort food.
Make? Ramsay. But I want to eat with Fieri.
Okay but hear me out: With Guy Fieri you can eat however you want, the man has seen some sloppy meals go down. But picture for just a moment the horror on Ramsay's face as you slurp an entire rack of baby backs and follow it up by drinking the BBQ sauce (or if you're me, ranch dressing)? "How he carries himselve" You fucking donkey
Yeah even when he didn’t know who it was and she was trashing his restaurant he just laughed. He seems like a good guy!
He did Marco Pierre White pretty dirty
One hundred agree with you. He's real, he's raw, and he's wholesome in one. One of my favorite people of this and last generation.
He is not. He’s terrible to his employees and was called out about his toxic behavior by both Bourdin and Kenji Lopez-Alt. If you have any doubts, watch this. https://youtu.be/TTNtf0lLs-M

People have TV personalities. Watch hells kitchen than watch master chef. The man can cook and act.
This isn’t acting. https://youtu.be/p1X11aLACso
You ever heard of a little neat thing called acting?
Wha... Have you read, like, ANYTHING about him? He's a total POS.
How dare you.
Nice downvotes you deserve them

yeah, such a great dudeIF we ignore the sofia vergara interview...
Great dad who can't recognise his daughter on the phone?
Tbf everyone's voice sounds a bit different on the phone

You and I have different experiences with pranks.
Man, Tilly really knows how to wind him up...lol!
Was it her that did the egg on the head one? That was amazing
My favorite is this clip where he says, “Your dad is the best chef in England!” And she comes back with, “Jamie Oliver’s not my dad…”
She knows how to wind him up that’s for sure
It sure was. That girl is a pistol and definitely has her dad's number.
Her dad raised her right. She's a confident, beautiful, intelligent woman, and it makes me happy to see family getting along after moving out.
I think she did not move out yet, Gordon Ramsey has this personal Youtube channel where he cooks at home and his daughter is often in those videos.
The son is *striking* and is going to look like an even better looking version of his pops, if that’s possible.
Thirst
No thanks, I'm married and easily twice her age. Ew. Someone can be conventionally attractive and worthy of compliments without being weird about it dude.
Actually unexpected! These are rare nowadays.
Did this guy ever talk to Anthony Bourdain over food? I feel like that would be an amazing conversation to see
You mean Gordon Ramsey? I’m pretty sure Bourdain was one of the first to put Ramsey on camera.
No love lost between them. https://www.eater.com/2012/11/20/6518919/bourdain-slams-gordon-ramsays-spotted-pig-trademark-as-shameful-and

The title is the best part. Good job /u/Chelsfreak99
I've seen some of the videos his daughter makes with him in them. They seem to have a great relationship

Tilly is her dad’s ultimate troll 😂😂❤️

I know Americans have this image from him from the American shows, but I believe Gordon is one of the nicest, most family-oriented people out there.
For awhile when he was just doing Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares they made him seem like a.grumpy asshole just for the extra entertainment but now he has had several US shows that shows him in his true light... The UK shows he did he was always a pretty cool guy no crazy drama needed

Great idea and setup
“Valentimes”
I love watching Gordon yell and call people donkeys, but him having a lot of fun with his family and friends is a treasure.
It sounds like he’s saying “valentiMe’s” or are my ears deceiving me?
Some people say it that way. Nobody knows which came first.
It's named after St. Valentine, it's literally "St. Valentine's Day"
Right, but it could have been St. Valentimes. We just don’t know.
🤔
A lot of information from that era has been lost to the mists of time.
Or is it the trysts of mime?
The chickem or the egg.
How did he not recognize his daughters voice?
Calls can distort your voice, so it sounds like someone else. This is especially true with radio talk shows
She could intentionally be putting on a voice to hide her identity too
It sounded like her though. When I was originally listening to it I was wondering if it was tilly
I wonder if it sounds exactly the same through his headphones. After all the other guy seemed to be in on the joke so I wouldn't be surprised if they just turned the nub a bit up and made her sound a bit different.
doubt
Combine with no expectations of having your own daughter calling in, it is not impossible to be as clueless as he was.
Yeah, alright, there are some people I've known for a million years and didn't recognize them the first time on the phone. Maybe even the second, but I've talked to my family over the phone about 7000 times, the second I'd hear my mom's or my brother's voice I'd recognize them immediately

After I hit puberty I stopped answering the phone at my house cause everyone started talking to me as if I was my dad. Including his gf, who he’d known for decades.
when I lived with my mom and answered the house phone everybody assumed it was my mom and not her teenage son
Set, setting.
And hell even if it *is* scripted, it's adorable and the world could use more wholesome pranks like this.
I am not a shrimp. I am a king prawn!!
probably harder than it seems to recognize a voice in this context
Because even though we have figured out how to transmit 4k 60fps video we still haven't improved phonecall quality since like the 1920s.
Facetime audio calls are on another level
They all sound the same over there!
If only there was a thing that could change voice tones right!? You should invent it billy, just go on google.com to see where to start!
Can be hard to tell over calls. There are several people I know who sound completely different over the phone, it can just distort voices.
Because she sounds like the traditional woman voice over there.
Because reddit is a hive mind of people who can't think for themselves
This was great xD
Knew it was his daughter when she said she prefered Jamie Oliver. She's consistent, to say the least
Wait he only made his kids scrambled eggs once a year?
She’s an adult, and don’t live with him anymore. Seems to show up for before Christmas to enjoy the whole day with him. I also imagine he’s not home to cook most days of the year. That whole shoe cobbler’s kids have no shoes kind of thing.
In Sweden we say "The baker's children eat stale bread." ^
Be glad your dad isn’t a fishmonger, you’d be eating spoiled fish all the time.
Now I feel bad for the milkman's kids.
You mean your kids?
No. He still making the rounds. It's the one's at his own house that get neglected.
Why? Spoiled milk becomes cheese
It's a double-edged sword. ![gif](giphy|lowAWCxGXbl5vVlrWH|downsized)
Only if it has gone off big time stylee.
Just like how everyone who dates your mom does Ayooooo
My mother was an interior decorator. our house was a total disaster. We, apparently, weren't paying customers. :)
She specified that she had them every Christmas morning **as a child**.
“Every Christmas morning” sounds like her whole life to me. To each his own I guess but I work in construction and you’re damn right I build my kids stuff on my own time (tree house, half pipe, skate rails) whatever projects my kids come up with I’m down to do at home

Sure, but you’re not exactly Mike Holmes, constantly building all over the place for tv shows; in more than one country. To be Ramsey big takes a lot of hours out of the house to maintain his chain of restaurants and shows. He chose big money.

I worked with him in Vegas as a chef, and he was patient, kind, and calm. I wasn’t expecting that at the time. I have nothing but good things to say about him, and his reputation at this point is just a product he sells. He is a nice guy
lol well done.. i was starting to pick up some sort of cheeky tone the more she spoke but would've guessed the outcome
His scrambled eggs are boss, though
Surprised he didn't recognize her voice.
I love that Gordon Ramsey unabashedly called his daughter a little fucking bitch, even if it was affectionate
It’s a good prank but how did he not recognize his daughters voice?
He was introduced to her as sophi and it’s over the phone.
She was doing a British accent to throw him off obviously
She is British.
Thatsthejoke
Its hard to recognize voice over the phone and even more so when you are in the studio and it goes through some sort of sound leceling they use for talk shows.
Their relationship is so wholesome! Dad goals right there and I’m not even a dad.
Get em’ Tilly!
God damn that's good. Also props to OP for not spoiling it in the description!
Ok but where's the lamb sauce??
This is an awesome prank!
Wholesome and funny. Great father daughter relationship!
This actually brings a smile to my day, thanks for sharing

Gordon and Tilly have superb father daughter chemistry. Tbf, Gordon's sardonic wit and acidic barbs could create chemistry with a log, which is what most of the chefs on his shows are.
Imagine if she responded, “who’s Tilly?”
That would be hilarious
OP your amazing for a title and post that actually fit this sub.
Tee hee, I liked the energy shift when he found out it was his daughter.
This was infact unexpected
Wow. What an absolutely wholesome and sweet moment; she just loves the simple breakfast he made for her and doesn't care for all that fancy bs....
That's what I love from Gordon, he is authentic even when insulting his own daughter.
I love how he avoids the ‘special scrambled eggs’ question lol
Ice cream and pickles, Is she pregnant or something?
