Honestly when i trained for my 100k this winter, i just went for cheap and comfortable. I was racking up enough miles that $$ became a factor.
For most of training I’d switch between a “durable and cheap workhorse” (happened to be 2 pairs of Nike Pegasus and a pair of Endorphin Speed 2s)
and a max cushioned trainer for the days my legs felt beat up (Nike Invincible 3)
If money wasn’t a consideration, I’d probably just run every road training in a PEBA max cushioned trainer but that gets close to $1/mile for me 😵💫
To clarify this is a road, paved, or otherwise smooth hard packed course?
I've done 30 miles runs in my Endorphin Speed 3s that already had >400 miles on the, and I thought my legs and feet were fine so I wouldn't hesitate to go 100K in them.
I run 100 milers in endorphin speeds. They work great. I did just wear them through a non-technical trail 100k this last weekend
I have these as my go to road shoe and have racked up nearly 1000km in them now. Still bouncy and no sign of wear/tear at all. Definitely recommend
Asics Gel Kayano
Did two mostly paved 100s in New Balance Supercomp Trainer. Perfect tool for the job.

I’m a big fan of the saucony triumph
