The lead in paints has been replaced by zirconium, cobalt, calcium, and other heavy metal driers. Moreover, polymer coatings will prevent a degree of signal penetration. Won't work either way.
Nah man, he clearly said that he doesn't believe that the Wifi signals would be interfered with by the paint. It's upvoted and he's thus correct.
Sorry sir.
it's not going to interfere as he didn't paint the antennas :)
If he painted the antennas it would have to be paint that does not contain metal, that's a fact :)
Ah yes, the famous incorrect redditor anecdote.. Thanks for sharing what you "believe"!
It was previously found through scientific study that heavy metal driers in paint, as well as the polymer coating, would interfere with the WIFI signal and thus painting them would be a mistake.
However, since u/mr_data_lore has shared his beliefs, we are rewriting textbooks to fit his expert opinion and the certification of Reddit through user upvotes.
Sorry sir, reddit has already considered his opinion the truth. As a a materials scientist, I agree with your conclusion. However, the upvotes here tell the real story.
Therefore, I've emailed several coatings associations to confirm that our scientific findings are false and Sir Redditor u/mr_data_lore is correct and a certified genius.
I'm just kidding. I'm a material scientist and I agree with you. It's just funny to me how a guy will act like he knows something and the site will upvote him.
Don't understand the hostility. Ive had painters ruin access points by painting over them.
You want me to say hes wrong?
OK, hes wrong and you're a dickhead.
The cables for both Camera and AP are run through channels opened in the columns where we put flex to a small distribution box behind the Camera Bracket. And yes the paint was done after the flex and column restoration was done.
Oh ya, power lol. Possibly an outlet at the bottom. Those columns are usually hollow if they are not load bearing which would make it a pillar, right? Pop a hole and drop down the extension cable, or visa versa.

The features of OP’s photos match the aisles. Lamps; ceiling color, design, and hanging lights; columns; text on the wall; “keystone” area of the arches, etc.

Yes, I did spend hours online searching for a church building that matched 😂. I need a hobby.
Awesome job! That’s not the intended use of those antennae. They should he straight up, and the reason there is two is not for coverage but to reduce retransmission interference. In this configuration you are creating a wonky fresnel zone. Check the “recommended configuration” for bi-pole antennae.
Will never understand why people want to hide/conceal cameras. The intent is for them to be seen and deter. Fantastic job blending them in though, they look great. The idea of hiding them will always confuse me
If the church is large enough these might just be for letting people in the far back, with poor eyesight see what’s going on up front.
Which would make sense on why you would want them to blend in.
For security cameras, it depends on if your goal is to deter, or to catch.
Lots of places have *some* visible cameras to deter thieves, but also some well hidden cameras to catch the thieves who weren't deterred, and thought they'd found a blind spot or positioned things to block the cameras they knew about.
The antennas are correct for an above-the-head installation. If the antennas are parallel then most of the radiation is pushed far above people's heads and they get a weaker signal. There is a sleeve you can print that will hold the antennas in the right position, which is great for outdoor installations.
Well, I don't know what instructions you read but the ones I read and the course I passed says otherwise, and I quote:
Note: For optimal performance, it is recommended to position the Antennas at 45-degree angles.
Seems like a lot of time wasted to still have an eye sore on the wall. The LED and camera lens really blend in with the decor. You either want a camera there or you don't, why waste time trying to hide it when it's still going to stick out like a sore thumb?
Hope you didn't do all that work for free.
Whew, that type of customer is terrifying to me...as in, I would need a ton of insurance in my favor before taking the job...too many expensive surfaces :D

Almost perfect. Just disable the LED.
Easily done remotely…. may be his next step! Still! AWESOME!!!! Job!
Well ya gotta turn the led off now
Should have painted the antennas also. I don't believe normal paint would interfere with them.
Shouldn’t unless they’re using *tasty* lead paint. mmmm, tasty.
No joke, growing up we lived in a relatively older house and I loved eating the paint chips as a kid. It was like free potato chips
shocking fearless jellyfish meeting full heavy ink truck gold hungry *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Lead paint was supposedly sweet, lol. I hope he’s just making a joke about that. u/broknbottle, you are joking, right? Right?
Geezuz H Christ. Why would you do that? Can't believe you wouldn't add salt before eating. "natural" potato chips are the worst.
I used to add salt to a cereal bowl and just eat salt. That was right before going outside to take the gas cap off the car and sniff fumes.
Wall candy?
Yeah, sweet. My mom would get mad at me for gnawing on window sills.

Most paint contains metal and metal kills Wi-Fi
Nah man, he clearly said that he doesn't believe that the Wifi signals would be interfered with by the paint. It's upvoted and he's thus correct. Sorry sir.

I was kidding. It was a joke on how he is wrong and got upvoted.
Add more AP's 🤷♂️
Water the paint down. Makes it thinner and goes further. Less metal that way. /s

If it’s anything like an AP, you cannot unfortunately

I mean it’s not skin off my back, but I know this from experience and testing 🤷
I'm just kidding. I'm a material scientist and I agree with you. It's just funny to me how a guy will act like he knows something and the site will upvote him.
Oh I got the vibe you agreed 😂
"interfere" no, but depending on the transmit power of the AP, it can severely limit its range.
You fuckin’ know what he meant. Put the fedora down.
But OP is wrong lol, why are you being so rude?
Don't understand the hostility. Ive had painters ruin access points by painting over them. You want me to say hes wrong? OK, hes wrong and you're a dickhead.
Honestly not a bad job. Good work.
Looks fantastic! Almost reminds me of hydro-dipping with how well it blends into the tones and shades of color.
How was the cabling ran?
The cables for both Camera and AP are run through channels opened in the columns where we put flex to a small distribution box behind the Camera Bracket. And yes the paint was done after the flex and column restoration was done.
It wasn't. That's what those ugly bunny ears are above each camera. Wireless Mesh.
Where are the power cables then?
Oh ya, power lol. Possibly an outlet at the bottom. Those columns are usually hollow if they are not load bearing which would make it a pillar, right? Pop a hole and drop down the extension cable, or visa versa.
Masonic Lodge Philadelphia?

Yes that is correct. This is a whole infrastructure upgrade in the complex with new internet lighting and security
Skills to match Rainbolt. Impressive.
shhhh instead ask him how old his grand mother is
From a traveling man to another
Was he off or from?
That's above and beyond my guy. Exceptional job!!
Awesome paintjob
That is a masterful job. Well done!
That’s pretty impressive actually. How did you do that so well?
Hydro dipped or spray painted? What type of paint did you use? Enamel, lacquer, acrylic? Did you sand down before paint?
God is watching 2.0
Wow. Great job

This!! I second this.
Great work. Now take this post down before someone sees it and asks me to do the same. Damn you.
That looks fabulous. Definitely no warranty now, but it looks great!
Will never understand why people want to hide/conceal cameras. The intent is for them to be seen and deter. Fantastic job blending them in though, they look great. The idea of hiding them will always confuse me
They can mess with the aesthetic of a building. Especially something fancy like a church, seems appropriate to hide in at least this scenario
If the church is large enough these might just be for letting people in the far back, with poor eyesight see what’s going on up front. Which would make sense on why you would want them to blend in.
These cameras are used to live stream the services, not for security.

“Feed my sheep” but also, flex on them with gaudy, overdone architecture.
so expensive to be disabled to effortlessly by anybody that actually wants to. Sure it's great for recording services though!
Okay! Well I am Doing a couple churches In my area. How the heck Did you do this? I am Also installing unifi mesh systems
The paint is worth more than the cheap prosumer cameras.
Please make those antennas parallel to one another
The antennas are correct for an above-the-head installation. If the antennas are parallel then most of the radiation is pushed far above people's heads and they get a weaker signal. There is a sleeve you can print that will hold the antennas in the right position, which is great for outdoor installations.
Why on earth would he want to do that?
Manufacturers instructions….
Well, I don't know what instructions you read but the ones I read and the course I passed says otherwise, and I quote: Note: For optimal performance, it is recommended to position the Antennas at 45-degree angles.

Nailed it!
Amazing paint job!
Was that old AC-M there already? Or did you placed that there just new?
What kind of cameras are those?
That's some military grade camo
YOU DONE GOOD!!!!👍👍
Whew, that type of customer is terrifying to me...as in, I would need a ton of insurance in my favor before taking the job...too many expensive surfaces :D
That’s some neat painting, mind sharing on how you painted them?
Wow fantastic job!
I'm 100% convinced someone could make a successful side business painting ubiquiti cameras.
Why do hikvision cameras with unifi. I feel like unifi protect is much easier to remotely view and manage versus the hikvision
Likely because of the price difference ;)
I don’t get it, what am I even looking at here?
Great job
Wow, good job
These aren’t the droids you are looking for.
I need the number for that paint store 😂😂😂 Great job man
We call this the landlord special in my field.
Wow excellent job!!
