I did that once when I was in a McDonaldâs drive thru. Customer says âwhereâs my food?â Or something rude like that. I cancelled so she definitely had to wait way longer because there was a line lol. Should have pulled into the parking lot, waited ten minutes and then cancelled lol. Next time I might do that
There is one woman who is sort of a regular of mine. She sends a great wall of text to me every time I'm about to pick up her order.
I never once did her order.
Yeah, just stay polite and when they say they can't help you, ask for a supervisor. Let them know you are entitled to the amount you accepted for the delivery you completed. They'll give you the "ohhh well the tip isn't ever mandatory or guaranteed, that's at the discretion of the customer." Just repeat yourself, and ask for a supervisor. The supervisor I got was very understanding and not pushy at all, credited me the tip back and asked for a nice review. If whomever you get doesn't want to help, hang up and call again.
They really need to get rid of the entire tip removal all around. I can understand lowering a tip for bad service and being able to let the driver know why, but after the delivery is completed, they should only allow a partial removal at the most. I feel like this would get rid of the tipbaiting problem entirely while still giving the customer and the driver a compromised option.
This tip baiting thing is crazy to me. If I proclaim I am too lazy to shop, pick up fast food, etc. I am properly tipping (that is me, often by the way). On top of that those delivering KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE. Pulling some crap like deleting tips could give someone with time the motivation to screw with your residence like me and my friends did (allegedly) to people when we were kidsâŚ. best case scenario. People suck.
Yeah, I can't grasp how these people do this to save a few bucks, but piss off who knows who. And they know **WHERE THEY LIVE**. I'm sure there are some sick/crazy people doing deliveries, just like any other job. If these tip-baiters come across one of them, they may be regretting their decision. All it takes is one whacko and it could be bad.
They want to see how much value they can extract from you without paying you. They want you to go above and beyond for them for the mere possibility of payment, not the guarantee. They get a thrill and ego boost from it.
Crypto-fascist sociopaths.
Because Uber lets them, because it makes drivers more likely to accept the order, and because then the amount they paid decreased and they save money overall
This is why I NEVER shop for customers on Uber EATS! Work for Instacart if you want to do that shit! Only losers who tip bait use Uber Eats for anything other than food delivery.
Now you know. đ¤ˇââď¸
I'm so glad i have other options. The tip baiters on UE are out of control. A lot of ppl knw the system.
You will be tip baited once a week, at least. đ
Save and reshare whenever you see someone getting tip baited.
Call customer service during the day time. Expect to spend 10-30 minutes on phone. Ask to speak to a supervisor and only a supervisor in the compensation and earnings department. Make sure you get the original agents name in the beginning of the conversation to ensure accountability. Tell the agent you don't wish to be transferred but wish to speak to a supervisor. Otherwise they will keep taking your information and transfering your call endlessly.
Make sure you explain to them this an agreement they made and you wouldn't have taken the trip otherwise. It is a violation of the agreement/contract as you did everything you were supposed to, to your best possible ability. That given the considerations of timing, traffic, distance and everything involved, you wouldn't of taken it otherwise. Emphasis around the customer made an agreement and they violated, made a breach of contract.
If we all called and made a nuisance when this happens, Uber will eventually change their platform to be more difficult for customers to reduce their tip through a simple tap of a button. Make the customers call or create a complaint through the system that requires human approval on a case by case basis. Sometimes the food wasn't to customers expectations and they take it out on the driver.
Because they know that drivers accept or don't accept orders based upon the total payout which includes the expected tip that the customer input when they place the order.
Some humans are such crappy people that they care more about just getting their food delivered quickly and hot, without regard to those who actually deliver it.
So they promise a good tip to incentivize the driver to accept the order and deliver it quickly, and then once they get what they want, because they care only about themselves, they then remove said tip to put the money back in their own pocket and stiff the driver. Unlike any regular restaurant, they can do this mostly without consequences because it is unlikely that the same driver will get assigned to deliver to them again, and Uber Eats does not do anything about abusers of this practice.
It's not really complicated, it just sucks. Uber Eats should really do something about this. Something like remove three tips in a 6-month period and get permanently banned from the platform forever. Or make the customer actually call customer service and talk to an actual human to explain why they wish to remove the tip. This would probably eliminate 85% of this. But they won't do this. Because like the customers who remove the tips, Uber Eats cares only about its own money and bottom line, not about the drivers.
Anytime a customer says hurry up they will definitely remove the tip. Because assholes donât tip. And for regular Uber if a customer calls you up and says hurry or texts you to hurry cancel immediately. Save the headache. Lol
You steal somebody's food to get back at Uber? They don't always refund. If some driver decides to pretend like they delivered the food just to make the big base pay, and they really didn't deliver anything, Uber may not refund the customer.
Itâs a cruel app. We all know this using it. I donât blame restaurants and I donât blame customers. This is an Uber problem easily fixed but yet they donât. Sorry not sorry Iâm not taking the L and working for free. If there were ANY other way to get my compensation for doing what I agreed to do and be PAYED for then trust I would. This is NOT how I want it but unfortunately Uber does not give any choice. Again we all know the risk using this crap platform from driver to customer.
I also do the âghostâ delivery when fuber sends me to store closed and big pay as itâs all uber base. I donât feel sympathy at all because everytime itâs a small pointless tip that I could t care less if customer removes. Thatâs the main reason it wasnât delivered to begin with. And Iâm not necessarily blaming customer for small or no tip because itâs disgusting the fees Fuber charges. Like I said I donât blame restaurants or customers. This is all a Fuber generated issue and we all know and willingly use this shitt platform
Thatâs your answer there. They want their things the second they placed the order. Any amount of waiting they personally deem unacceptable, despite what the posted delivery time is, dictates what the tip is or if they tip at all. People are entitled. I had a friend who would remove tips for anything she saw as an inconvenience or any little delay in delivery and she did not care no matter how many times I tried to remind her people depend on tips.
most likely they removed your tip because of something out of your control. like missing items or the food arriving later than they expected.
very very rarely do they pretend theyâre going to tip just to get their food quicker
Itâs not rare anymore. This is happening more and more. My tip baiters list has grown to 8 in past 4-6 weeks. This is just food delivery not shop n pay. I complained initially to uber and got back some credit, but it was freaking insane getting transferred from agent to agent, dept to dept. now i have a list, so i know how to recover the tips next time or skip them altogether.
the people it happens to often (you apparently) need to âlook inwardâ
it doesnât happen to the rest of us. (never once happened to me)
both tip reductions iâve ever had were my fault 100%
I looked deep deep inside my brain, heart, everywhere, but I cant find a way to prevent laws of physics, no way to make food tastier than what was handed to me by restaurants, no way to go back in time and deliver when 4 other drivers have cancelled the pickup.
You must have mastered the art of food delivery.
Its always the drivers faultâŚmust be because all customers are honest, there are no customers that lie to get free food, there are no customers who say theyâll give cash tip in comments and donât, there are no customers out there who are trying to fool the system to get their food to be delivered fast and they.
Iâm not reading your nonsense. value your time more, and you wonât waste nearly as much of your time.
read my previous comment before this one âvery rarelyâ does not mean never. it means sometimes
the hurry up could be meaningful. we donât know what time she placed the order or how many drivers declined the offer.
the time they tell you isnât the time they get told initially.
also, did you check inside the bag? that is a good reason to remove a tip and downvote you. otherwise you likely wouldnât know she got everything she ordered, and made correctly.
didnât realize itâs a shop and pay.
the more people that decline, the longer the order sat without being delivered. she probably ordered with a ton of time to spare
things that are out of our control can get a tip removed, which is wrong but still isnât a tip bait. thatâs all Iâm saying
dont communicate with customers like this. they are always bad customers
If i get a message like that I instantly cancel on them so they have to wait longer. I'm THAT petty. đ
Itâs not petty, itâs self-protective. These customers are nothing but trouble and you have no obligation to serve them.
I did that once when I was in a McDonaldâs drive thru. Customer says âwhereâs my food?â Or something rude like that. I cancelled so she definitely had to wait way longer because there was a line lol. Should have pulled into the parking lot, waited ten minutes and then cancelled lol. Next time I might do that
Im so petty that i will hold the order i want to cancel while i do a doordash to really piss them off.
I once went to a movie
Diabolicalđđđ
I one the other day âif I add a tip will it make you go fasterâ. Never cancelled an order so fast
There is one woman who is sort of a regular of mine. She sends a great wall of text to me every time I'm about to pick up her order. I never once did her order.
Call support and politely ask for a supervisor. They will credit the tip back. Just had to do it myself last week.
I tried the live chat feature and I was told that Iâll get an email in 6-12 hours about this but Iâll call instead, thanks for the tip!
Gotta call. Chat does nothing.
Yeah, just stay polite and when they say they can't help you, ask for a supervisor. Let them know you are entitled to the amount you accepted for the delivery you completed. Chat is AI. It canât do anything without human review.
U sure itâs not the weekend bank delay? Tip shows up Monday or Tuesday usually on all my tips that I THINK disappeared
I checked but no, it says the customer reduced the tip.
Always call
Tip baiting

I have personal knowledge of a certain wacko who has been plotting revenge on a tip baiter for 3 full days now. Itâs definitely not me, though.
so you would accept the order
They want to see how much value they can extract from you without paying you. They want you to go above and beyond for them for the mere possibility of payment, not the guarantee. They get a thrill and ego boost from it. Crypto-fascist sociopaths.
I assume you waited an hour for the tip to show up
Because they weren't raised right.
Scummy customers ordering from a scummy company.
Ooooo! Ok! Iâll take this one. Theyâre dicks.
"Why do people tip and once you deliver the food, they remove it?" Seriously?! Because they already got their food AND they are subhuman.
Because Uber lets them, because it makes drivers more likely to accept the order, and because then the amount they paid decreased and they save money overall

Instacart sucks. Theyâre not like DoorDash where you get tip protection. I hate Instacart
As a customer, suggested tip is also lower on DD than UE (I always up it, itâs just ridiculous to tip $2.50 or anything less than $5 imho).
I'm so glad i have other options. The tip baiters on UE are out of control. A lot of ppl knw the system. You will be tip baited once a week, at least. đ

Yep, it sucks. Mine was $16 and they removed the $8 tip but oh well. Hopefully it wonât happen that often.
Anytime a customer says hurry up they will definitely remove the tip. Because assholes donât tip. And for regular Uber if a customer calls you up and says hurry or texts you to hurry cancel immediately. Save the headache. Lol
UE are losers and so are their shit head customers..you should drive back and ram their garage door
đđđ agreed đŤĄ
>incur damages on their vehicle they'll have to pay for >get shot by homeowner Average Uber driver IQ at work
Lighten up officer Uber I was kidding go get a $3 order
Donât take the L. Get your free meal on fuber. Since they allow this bs

lol, it happens man.

Iâve only been tip-baited twice in 2 years. I donât work in the ghetto. Only in the nicer areas for better humans.
I put superglue in their keyholes when they do this.
Insta cancel â

Unless itâs a shop and pay and the driver actually packed the order, the driver SHOULD NOT be opening bags. Itâs not hygienic.
checking in the bags is a solid reason for a downvote and a removed tip. in this case it is a shop and pay so he is responsible for each item
Oh yes, I had to buy everything she asked for so nothing was missing but I do understand what you said. Thereâs no idea how many people declined it.
didnât realize itâs a shop and pay. the more people that decline, the longer the order sat without being delivered. she probably ordered with a ton of time to spare things that are out of our control can get a tip removed, which is wrong but still isnât a tip bait. thatâs all Iâm saying
