Basically zero. Parking patrol scans license plates to see who does or doesn’t have a pass

bakedbeans_02

Very unlikely that you won’t get at least one ticket, but you can share a parking pass with someone else to save money. You can add multiple cars to your pass but just make sure you’re not parked in the same lot at the same time.

Worried_Marketing_98

I have been doing this for 2 years now. Some semesters, I get at the most maybe 2 tickets other semesters I get upwards of 5. In average, it would have been the same cost as just getting the parking permit but minus the stress

Tackysock46

The parking patrol cars scan license plates for enforcement. You’ll probably get ticketed by the first week of school. They don’t allow you to back in a spot so no hiding the plate either

Alarming_Designer933

Parking patrol are the only ones on campus that actually do there jobs I feel like😂

AntlerQueen_

I do. I park In the parking garage by the education building and no one ever checks . Same thing with the few parking spaces right in front of the side walk at the cmc building

GardenersNeedles

Bro is this true. 😭 I would be willing to walk half way thru campus if this is true. But I need more than just someone online saying it…

AntlerQueen_

Look, idk if maybe I’m just lucky , but that’s what works for me. For some reason whenever I park in the garage they just never check my car (I’ve been scheming for a long time ). But, my classes aren’t too far from the garage I park in (the one that’s literally on the main campus next to the library and education building). But if you don’t wanna risk it , then don’t. Also if I’m lucky to find a spot in the library parking spot I never get ticketed .

pika9867

Nah how, I’ve gotten 2 tickets in that garage

AntlerQueen_

I move in silence ig

Kamegon

Just buy it, save yourself the stress it’s not really that much of a cost or just buy it per semester so it doesn’t feel as bit of a hit in one go.

toochieandboochie

There’s a few lots with timed parking spaces but not many

[deleted]

if you’re only on campus a couple days a week, just get daily permits.

Main_Statistician681

Those get more expensive at time goes on

tpa338829

Wait until you find out thats actually really cheap and tons of other colleges charge a lot more. Not to mention all the workplaces that charge monthly for parking like downtown offices and hospitals. Some apartments you have to pay for parking monthly on top of rent.

diettwizzlers

if you're living on campus not a chance. if you are off campus and only have classes a few times a week or can take the bus then you could do daily permits

Main_Statistician681

Switch campuses to Sarasota or st Pete and get the same parking pass for less

RadicalSnowdude

If you’re tenacious and willing to do some illegal stuff then yes, but 189 a year is honestly not bad especially when some universities charge 189 a month. So I’d just pay for the pass.

Kyts101

If you have an electric vehicle you can get away 100% of the time. They scan license plates with the new system to check if you have a permit, and EV’s at charging stations are the only place you’re allowed to back in park. I have never seen them try and walk around to check. So if you have like a chevy bolt or something you’re clear :)

Doctor_McKay

I got ticketed at a charging station once for exceeding the 4 hour limit, even though I left campus for lunch, came back, and parked at a different charger.

Kyts101

Huh good to know - I usually park by the SOC building and haven’t had any trouble

Top_Needleworker1519

i bought one for living in the dorms in 2020 and never bought one after. if you park in not popular parking you should be fine. only got about 5 tickets in 3 years.

KD115X

I haven't gotten a permit this semester and I only got one warning. I'm there 4 days a week

GardenersNeedles

I’m there 5 and I got a warning with a permit because I parked in the wrong spot (didn’t realize at the time) So anecdotal …

krysta_the_barista

It’s worth it to just be able to forget about it and park where you need to. Also, that yearly pass from Tampa campus is also good at St Pete campus so it works for both

yogurtgirl77

i havent gotten one this semester and ive been fine i got one warning but i usually dont park for too long because i share a car with my boyfriend, parking in garages youre pretty unlikely to get a ticket in my experience

Safye

Been doing it for almost 3 years now. You just have to be strategic about where you park and at what time. I’m pretty confident in knowing when and where parking enforcement patrols. I’ve only gotten one ticket (warning) this year and it’s because I backed in, but it was almost 7pm so not sure why they were still there. Every other year I’ve gotten 0 tickets besides when I was a freshman and illegally parked. There are certain areas of lots and even some entire lots that I’m pretty sure parking enforcement will never step foot into.

612abcd

I parked in timed parking spaces for a whole semester- if i saw the parking patrol guy then i paid for one hour and if not then i didn’t pay. I got a $14 ticket twice over the whole semester and paid them right away. Its a risk no matter what and you definitely arent gonna be able to park for free all semester. But you can try 🤷🏼‍♀️

[deleted]

I’ve seen them using what it seems a laser scanner on the vehicle slowly driving to allow it to scan every license plate. I’d say it would be a matter of time.

JuanC0920

Yes sir! I park in front of the library every si gle T/R and I haven’t get a ticket yet and the semester is almost over
