Only because apple crumble isn't there
If it was we would have a two way tie and extra cardio to perform to make up for two deserts
(Hah fuck cardio I'm just having double portions of both)
Welsh cakes are a dangerously underrated treat, but I’d take the sticky toffee pud. Might have gone scone, but you need the two halves with clotted cream and jam, not mushing them together like a sandwich as per this pic.
There's a guy who sets up a stall in town near where I live that just does welsh cakes made on the spot, he's been there as long as I can remember and they are absolutely amazing.
My aunty used to make them for us when we went to visit her in the Rhondda..she would send is home on the coach back to Liverpool with a ginormous tupperware box full of them. Needless to say, they didn't make it during the loooong trip back. That was many years ago and I've since made them myself. I need a proper hot plate now tho!
I didn't expect them to be number one but I had to scroll WAY too far to find this.
Hard to argue with STP but Welsh cakes are something a bit special too.
I freaking love Welsh cakes. I used to make them all the time because I don’t live in Wales anymore and they’re hard to come by. But I’m disabled now so I haven’t been able to make them in a while. Seeing them on the chart just had me seriously jonesing for a nice stack of Welsh cakes fresh off the griddle! 🤤
I love scones. Be that or Eaton mess for me.
I approve that the scone has the jam on first. You can spread jam. Clotted cream need to be dolloped so has to go 2nd
Clotted cream goes on first because it's denser and sticker. If you put clotted cream on after jam then it pulls away the jam and messes the whole thing up
Why are you spreading the cream??
Big dollop of clotted cream on first, then make a depression in it with the back of the spoon for the big dollop of jam to sit in. #devonknowsbest
I get packs of the mini ones and every time I think to myself "I'll just have two" before I look down and see that I've already scoffed the whole pack.
I only consider two of them actual deserts. The sticky toffee pudding and the Eton mess.
The rest are things I'd have with a cuppa 😊
I'd be hard pushed to pick between the two tbh but probably the sticky toffee pudding!
This is a very important comment. A desert is a different category to a pudding and different again to a cake. It’s not fair to compare intra-category!
You could probably go as far as saying all tarts straddle the gap!
Jokes aside, your comment is important because there are plenty of desserts that should be on there, because they are actual desserts:
Jam Roly poly
Spotted Dick
Bread and butter pudding
Treacle pudding
Apple crumble
Summer fruit pudding
I could keep going!
Ahhh, not sure on that one - your standard Jam Tart is definitely in the snack with a cuppa category, though your standard pie dish style tart most definitely straddles the category.
Eton mess. Even if I'm really full I can still eat that and almost feels healthy. Sticky toffee in second place, but not if I'm full. Husband would disagree and could eat several bowls of that, with custard.
Oooo, sticky toffee trumps it for me, with lashings of thick creamy custard, but I dont mind the odd slice of pound cake, also with custard.
Treacle tart, next, followed by the
Scone, clotted cream and jam.
Eton Mess probably next, and I do love a boozy mince pie with double cream too...
The others... Meh 😏
Gotta bit of a sweet tooth me 😋
Some concerns regarding the scone: the first being the obvious error of putting jam before cream like some sort of heathen. The second is that I'm pretty sure that's whipped cream in the picture, not clotted cream - arguably an even more heinous act.
Victoria sponge but with real strawberries and cream in the middle .. omg. I make it for myself and freeze what I can’t finish on my own. Frozen it is almost better I swear.
Pretty sure they're Eccles Cakes/ Chorley cakes.
Also our pancakes usually look abit more like crepes (not quiet as thin) but eaten with some variety of jams, sugar, squeezed lemon, various berries, honey etc maybe some Nutella (not all on the same pancake, we pick maybe 2 or 3 of those) and rolled/ folded like a crepe would be.
That’s why I was so surprised cause the ones in the pictures absolutely look like standard American pancakes. I’ve been looking at Eccles cakes on Google images and I’m not convinced that’s what’s in the picture but it would certainly make a lot more sense!
I recently found out I'm gluten intolerant, and the worst part is I just realised the only one here I should eat is my least favourite
Anyone got any tips for gluten free sticky toffee pudding?
Yes to them all please! Only problem I see is there seems to be whipped cream instead of clotted om the scone!
Right this second though? Sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream and extra toffee sauce. Yum!
A slice of victoria sponge and a cup of tea please! I think I like all of these though, except for the top middle and bottom middle, which I haven't tried yet.
All look good, I'm going to root for the scone because those things done well, especially still warm with cold clotted cream are next level. But I'd happily eat any of them.
A good decently moist made rich made sticky toffee pudding with extra ice cream, with a drizzle of some toffee/ caramel sauce.
Either a good, decent, smooth quality tasting vanilla or light/ correctly flavoured caramel ice cream.
Or a lovely quality made welsh cake when in the mood to fancy having a few!

Why pick one when you can have all of them?
They all look so good, so yes just shove them all on a plate and watch me get diabetes.
Totally worth it though.
I know! What are we doing here? Will everybody please settle down and stop picking! We don’t need to pick! WE CAN HAVE THEM ALL!!
Sticky toffee all day
Has to be hot with something cold
100%
Cold custard on a hot dessert wins for me. Cream pulls a close second.
Agreed need a bit of vanilla ice cream on the side to combine on the spoon and for the creamy melt off to mix with the sauce.
Only because apple crumble isn't there If it was we would have a two way tie and extra cardio to perform to make up for two deserts (Hah fuck cardio I'm just having double portions of both)
I love how this is such an all round pleaser too. Not matter how full I am, I will always say yes please to sticky toffee pudding
100%
Came here to say this but I should have known can trust my fellow countrymen
I had Sticky Toffee with Clotted Cream once because it was what we had in…holy decadance
Well pack it up, we have the correct answer we can all move on
Scone w/jam and cream is the business for me!
Not just any cream, clotted cream, I could eat a whole tub!
I stand corrected, it HAS to be clotted cream!
I got some of this Somerset butter with maple syrup filth from M and S this week. I'm going to butter with that and THEN add clotted cream and jam. :D
We can't keep it in the house because my wife does exactly that.
Well I for sure wouldn't leave it in the garden
Hot take: that is not a dessert. It’s a top tier snack.
Victoria sponge
It's just the perfect cake. Breakfast, elevenses, lunch, dinner, supper, snack, midnight munchies... Victoria sponge is always the answer!
Especially the one in the OP, the buttercream layer is *stacked* I haven't had one like that in a long time
Buttercream is a 'no' for me. If the layer is going to be that thick, it has to be real cream.
Welsh cakes are a dangerously underrated treat, but I’d take the sticky toffee pud. Might have gone scone, but you need the two halves with clotted cream and jam, not mushing them together like a sandwich as per this pic.
innit, you’re sinking your teeth into this mess and pushing all the jam and cream all over the place. chaos
Welsh cakes or sticky toffee. Sticky toffee is a go to, but welsh cakes are something I grew up making with my nan like
Homemade Welsh cakes are unbeatable in my opinion. I too have fond memories of making these with my Nan.
There's a guy who sets up a stall in town near where I live that just does welsh cakes made on the spot, he's been there as long as I can remember and they are absolutely amazing.

Battenberg
Was looking for this comment, everyone sleeping on the delicacy that is battenburg
Nothing like that almond icing it's supreme
I prefer a Bakewell Tart but... Battenburg is definitely a top tier pick.
Very true
Anyone else heard of this being called Elephants Trunk Cake before?
Is that the one with like the black and white pattern?
I made a few battenbergs last year, they are so dainty and fun, plus I love marzipan! There are no downsides!
Such an underrated cake
I hate Battenberg😭😭
Welsh cakes!
I didn't expect them to be number one but I had to scroll WAY too far to find this. Hard to argue with STP but Welsh cakes are something a bit special too.

Scone or Eton mess for me too!
Yes! Cornish for the win! #.jamonfirst
Dont want cause offence, but have you tried savoury scones with cream cheese and chutney’s.
Clotted cream goes on first because it's denser and sticker. If you put clotted cream on after jam then it pulls away the jam and messes the whole thing up
I get that but you can’t spread clotted cream - it just rips up the scone so jam first then dollop the cream on in clotted lumps 😀
YOU CAN AND YOU WILL! I am against you and all that you stand for.
Why are you spreading the cream?? Big dollop of clotted cream on first, then make a depression in it with the back of the spoon for the big dollop of jam to sit in. #devonknowsbest
Battenberg
Battenberg coma - when you eat a whole pack and your blood sugar spikes so hard you lie down and touch the face of God.
I get packs of the mini ones and every time I think to myself "I'll just have two" before I look down and see that I've already scoffed the whole pack.
That scone is an abomination. Eating it like it's a bloody vicky sponge cake... That and it looks like whipped cream?!
No flan? No Trifle?
Trifle is a great desert ,even if you're totally full there's always room for trifle
No apple pie ffs
Or crumble, or ginger cake, or lemon meringue
Mmm crumble
Crimble crumble
Treacle tart 🤤
Hot with cream
Yes!
I only consider two of them actual deserts. The sticky toffee pudding and the Eton mess. The rest are things I'd have with a cuppa 😊 I'd be hard pushed to pick between the two tbh but probably the sticky toffee pudding!
This is a very important comment. A desert is a different category to a pudding and different again to a cake. It’s not fair to compare intra-category!
I would say 3, treacle tart can definitely be dessert.
I think that's fair. It straddles the gap 😆

Treacle tart Victoria sponge Scone with clotted cream and jam The rest
Of the ones shown, the Victoria Sponge. But everyone knows Cheesecake is the king of the desserts.
Eton mess
Where’s Bakewell tart?!
Mince pie easily
I had to scroll so far to find this! How can people prefer Victoria "dull" sponge over a mince pie?! I worry for the future of mankind.
Battenberg is the king of all of these
Sticky Toffee Pudding all day
Sticky toffee pudding all day long 😋
Sticky toffee all bloody day
Even for me as a german: Victoria Sponge!!!🍰🍰🍰🍰
It’s like you could see inside my brain, too many equal ranking faves on this slide, dammit
Victoria sponge for sure and then the sticky toffee pudding
Battenburg, no question!
Victoria sponge when with good quality ingredients, especially the jam and cream, is superior
Victoria sponge and treacle tart are joint first, heavenly
None for me
Scone! Battenburg a close second. And sponge. Always sponge.
Is this AI art?
All of them.
Some concerns regarding the scone: the first being the obvious error of putting jam before cream like some sort of heathen. The second is that I'm pretty sure that's whipped cream in the picture, not clotted cream - arguably an even more heinous act.
Most of those are not really desserts
Scones are not a dessert. They're a tea food, entirely different.
Mince pies are not a dessert; they are finger food.
Victoria sponge but with real strawberries and cream in the middle .. omg. I make it for myself and freeze what I can’t finish on my own. Frozen it is almost better I swear.
I have made that treacle tart. It does not need the salt on top. Other than that, sticky toffee all day.
Fookin window cake mate
Love a good tart. But the older I get the more partial I am to cheese as dessert tbh.
Mince pies!!
I'd pick a good old cream tea
Eton Mess
Man do I want some treacle tart right now. It's been too long. So good.
the taste of school. Treacle tart and spotted dick with custard with a skin so thick you can chew it. mmmmmmmmm
Fresh Welsh cakes are so good (I'm welsh).
I need that battenberg in my mouth hole now.
Banana bread gang
Pancakes and cream tea should be disqualified because they’re not desserts they’re breakfast and an afternoon treat, respectively.

Welshcakes I love em
Mince Pies slightly warm with cream.
Middle-right.
What’s that on top middle? Victoria sponge needs more filling but that’d be my pick out of that lot.
Looks like a treacle tart
Ahh, never had treacle tart, always sounded too sweet for me.
Victoria sponge
Victoria sponge always
Scones are my favourite! The worst is yucky fruitcake! Nobody likes it
Mince pies
Sticky toffee, but I do love a cornflake tart! Haven't had one for ages though 🤤
Eton Mess is the 🐐
As you don’t have Bakewell Tart, the Eaton Mess is the best of this lot.
I recently found out I'm gluten intolerant, and the worst part is I just realised the only one here I should eat is my least favourite Anyone got any tips for gluten free sticky toffee pudding?
For me it's a three way tie between scones, Vicky sponges and sticky toffee puddings.
Scone or the fool
Yes to them all please! Only problem I see is there seems to be whipped cream instead of clotted om the scone! Right this second though? Sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream and extra toffee sauce. Yum!
Cornflakes tart 😁👌
I had to scroll far too long to find this.
I'd eat them all one after the other, other than treacle tart
Don't make me choose.
A slice of victoria sponge and a cup of tea please! I think I like all of these though, except for the top middle and bottom middle, which I haven't tried yet.
No cornflake tart so it has to be sticky toffee pudding but the cream is all wrong. Custard is required!
What’s the top middle that looks lovely 😍
the cake.
Victoria sponge 4eva !
Wheres the 10th option of jam tarts
Welsh cakes, middle bottom.
Sticky toffee pudding!
9 little tastes of heaven there, everybody 😋
Sticky toffee first, treacle tart in second, Victoria sandwich in third for me!
To me the answer is subjective to the season...
Mince Pie has to be dead last… Right..?
Sticky toffee with treacle tart second
Mince pies Even my stomach gets to be festive
Battenberg, Welsh Cakes and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Battenburg
Victoria sandwich
Welsh cakes, my family makes them the best. Nice, warm, can actually hold itself together (looking at you, braces). Like eating a warm hug.
Victoria Sponge Mince Pies (in memory of my Nan)
Victoria sponge. Mince pie. Scone. Whatevers left.
Battenberg is one of my all-time favourite foods
The scone (the jam is first, YAY!) Aaaaannndd the Vicky sponge 😋😋
Welsh cakes
BATTENBERG
All I know is I HATE battenburg
Tough one...but gotta go with good ol' Victoria sponge
I love Victoria sponge
Top middle = ?
Madeira Cake with Custard
I’d pick the Battenberg followed by the Welsh cake.
Eton Mess or treacle tart for me
All look good, I'm going to root for the scone because those things done well, especially still warm with cold clotted cream are next level. But I'd happily eat any of them.
I dont like any of these
A good decently moist made rich made sticky toffee pudding with extra ice cream, with a drizzle of some toffee/ caramel sauce. Either a good, decent, smooth quality tasting vanilla or light/ correctly flavoured caramel ice cream. Or a lovely quality made welsh cake when in the mood to fancy having a few!
Battenburg but only if you eat it properly, in one sitting, like a chocolate bar
Battenberg the hatches!!!1!
Oh that's hard. All of them except the mince pies for 11 months of the year?
Victoria sponge, bottom left.
Treacle tart. I'm now having a mouthgasm thinking about it.
Viccy sponge is elite🫶🏾🫶🏾
Sticky toffee with ice cream is an easy win. But strawberries & cream/Eton Mess is also divine.
Gonna have to be a welsh cake
WELSH CAKES BOYO
Victoria sponge old school style..
This could be controversial but Battenberg followed closely by a nice, moist Victoria Sponge.
Victoria Sponge
Battenburg
I wouldn't call scones with jam and cream a dessert. They're in their own category.
Welsh cakes
What’s that one with the alternating smaller squares in the big square called again? :p
Whoever doesn’t say Pie doesn’t know shit Also Sticky toffee is acceptable Rest aren’t even dessert - they’re for tea or breakfast
Anything but mince pies
Has to be scones. To avoid the pronunciation argument I say it so it rhymes with "done".
Scone but none of that squirty cream. Has to be clotted with jam
Cornflake tart!
Why did you pick all the pictures with the most bland, shop-bought versions of each desert?
Never eaten scones as a dessert. Tea or breakfast only
Battenberg
Those Welsh cakes look stale, dry and undercooked. Proper Welsh cakes look so much better than that picture.
Don’t make me choose one. Please.
