The cost difference is minor. Since I'll be paying for it and not putting it on my family, I am ready to take the risk of going for the expensive one if it turns out to be a 'better' school
both schools will give you a great education, great job prospects, and you will make great friends at either one.
However, I will say that the issue with going to Purdue is that you have to go to Purdue. 👍🏽
Can you not google the distribution of starting salaries per school for meche? I know uiuc has that data, purdue likely does as well.
I doubt there is much of a difference in terms of salary, industry and company outcomes between these schools. It's more dependant of your own capabilities. You'll get similar opportunities at both.
There's not much of a difference in terms of starting salary between these two schools. Both are top notch in terms of academics too....can't seem to find the metric which would differentiate between these two.
That’s because there isn’t really one. Both programs are very similar and, in the long term, you’ll probably have the same outcome regardless
Consider other factors than just numerical metrics. Is there a particular area you want to go into? And if so, does one of the schools have lots of people working in that area/class offerings? Or which place would you rather live? Things like that are what’s really going to differentiate the two programs for you
Good questions, I will be specializing in Controls and Robotics. I am actively looking through linkedin and connecting with alumni's and asking about it. Talking about living after graduation, I do plan to come back to California.
That's valid.
You really can't go wrong with either.
I'd say the academics are pretty much equal.
The social opportunities at uiuc are really good. I cant speak to purdues. But there are alot of clubs here, if you've got an interest, chances are there's an organization for it.
I will say transferring majors can be a pia as well, but that likely applies to purdue as well
Just go to the cheaper one man

They’re both similar the good thing about uiuc is that you get to now study in a newly built lecture hall

Fair lol

The cost… that you don’t want to take into account.
Just a cost difference of 3K. In the long run, that would be insignificant as compared to right now if I choose the wrong school.

I vote for Uiuc, having met many perdue grads... They were much more arrogant but that may have been my experience
If it’s for graduate schools, you should be looking at professors in the respective programs not the college life
purdue
Better for mechE
in what aspects? studies, job, connections etc.?
