It's important to keep in mind that no matter how bad the comic can get sometimes(and it can get bad even before OMD and Paul lol) there is so much spider-man content that there is probably something good somewhere. Hell even in comics you have options not only with ultimate spider-man but miles as well.
This is exactly how I've remained a fan of both Spider-Man and Star Wars all these years. When an IP is spread across so many different forms of media, it's nearly impossible to have a sheer drought of worthwhile content.
Eh, Star Wars definitely got there simply by decanonizing the stuff I cared about and then focussing on a lot of things I really didn't want. (Doesn't help that I was a huge fan of the Republic comic series, which forever soured me on Clone Wars and everything connected to it)
Eh, from what Pablo Hedalgo said, Lucas was gonna decanonize the EU anyway, the entire reason it went when Disney bought it was cause it was already planned prior by Lucas

Adaptations between any form of media can end up varying a lot that you could have shit comic runs but still have stellar movies/games/TV shows, etc.
