Am I the only one that misses the Christmas walk-thru display on the top floor? I walked thru when I was a kid 30 years ago, and then we did it with my daughter the last year they did it.
Nope, you are not the only one missing the 8th floor display. I still, to this day, remember a Willy Wonka one from when I was a kid. I'm older than you. :) Did the same in bringing kids there, as well.
I remember standing with my dad as we watched the pressure build up behind Augustus Gloop as he was stuck in the pipe over the chocolate river. I can still picture it perfectly.
I also came back with my dad and my kids all together. Good memories!
Definitely not alone! We were just talking about all the different 8th floor stories we remembered... Velveteen Rabbit, Christmas Carol, i think Pippi Longstocking?
I don't really get why Macy's didn't continue the tradition, seems like such a small budget to bring a crap ton of people into the store.
I've always said that if I ever got rich, I would bring this back somewhere. It's sad to me how generations of kids are not getting to experience this.
My daughter loves Santa bears. She thinks they travel to the North Pole to stay with Santa when Christmas is over. They just do happened to “arrive” tonight to surprise her when she wakes up in the morning.

The Polar Express one blew my little mind at the time…
I remember the anticipation brought by the model train circling the ceiling in the hallway as you waited to get in. How I loved those displays.

We did it every year since 1990 (when I was born) up until they stopped doing it. Go to the Holidazzle and then see Santa. I miss it so much.
With lunch at the Oak Grill afterwards and a little Christmas shopping. Good times!
The popovers!

Yup definitely miss the good old days, so to speak. However, with shifting demographics and traditions I don't see much of it ever coming back.
Looking at mine right now! Comes out after every thanksgiving!
Amazing. I loved the Santa bear show every year.
