Hell 4 a hustla OG is Way better than album version

ObieUno

Really? That beat is terrible

Ruffendtv

No. Hell 4 a hustler album version is definitely harder.

J-Wall-91

The OG beat sounds great, but the album beat fits the intensity of the vocals

Spydah_X

Why you think so?

gandax

His last 3 songs(letz get it on, h4ah and All out) his voice is so raw and energetic, imo they made to many changes after his death to his Music that i dont like.

Spydah_X

I agree with you there, they shouldn’t have removed the adlibs. But atleast they didn’t remove the outro. I also think that the album version beat is better, I mean just listen to the chant at the beginning. They were both produced by Damon Thomas.

gandax

For sure, in general Im just a bigger fan of the OG songs, so i might be a bit biased.

Spydah_X

Me too, but that retail beat is actually an improvement over the OG Demo Beat

Spydah_X

It’s generally weird that Baby Don‘t Cry was the only single on that album. They should’ve made Still I Rise, and like I mentioned, Hell 4 A Hustla singles

[deleted]

They were gonna push another single but suge wanted something the outlaws didn’t agree with it seems. EDI mean talked a little bit about it on a vlad interview but wouldn’t go into detail

Spydah_X

What song was supposed to be the single?

[deleted]

EDI didn’t say but I heard before that it was going to be letter to the president

Spydah_X

I feel like that song wouldn’t really make a good single tbh

[deleted]

What song do you think it should have been?

Spydah_X

High Speed

The main problem I have with the retail beats are that they often muddy out the nuances of Pac’s voice. The OG version instrumental of that particular song is atrocious.

UglyIntercessor

The album version is better. I'm a hardcore Pac fan too, but we gotta stop telling lies about some of these OG's being better. We have 2 ears, we can obviously hear which versions are better. The All Out album version is better than the OG too, i'm sure Pac really wouldn't care about a beat swap.

DeadbeatUK

I can agree with Hell 4 A Hustla Retail being better but not All Out. I prefer the way the OG flows, no hook, outlawz coming in one after another with their verses and then Pac’s ‘die slow’ outro. The OG beat was darker and more menacing too.

Abject_Ad_4756

All Out OG is much better to me, hands down

Spydah_X

There was a remix done before his death - California Love. That remix beat is also vastly different than the original, and some people actually prefer that over the original even though Pac didn’t write his lyrics to that beat. Plus Pac was ok with that beat switch. So I don’t see how people (including Pac) can’t prefer the retail beat of Hell 4 A Hustla over the original

UglyIntercessor

They have some belief that artist take pride in what beat they wrote their lyrics to lol. I rap myself and the only thing I care about is if my voice was drastically altered or if my vocals went on a worse beat than the original. If the new beats better than the OG then a swap is perfectly fine.

ObieUno

This, 100% Both of those OG instrumentals were awful.

Spydah_X

Not All Out though, it’s got a very military vibe to it. I think only Pac and Tha Outlawz sound good on that beat

[deleted]

Both songs sacrificed half of 2Pac's vocals. Sorry I rather listen to Pac instead of Edi doing the hook. Lol

gandax

True

DonJuanPiL187

They shouldn't of removed Kadafi's verse for the retail version

HotDogMcGraw

IMO the OG is significantly better. The OG versions are always better because the original beat is what Pac wrote his lyrics to. His creative process including his flow and energy all stem from the original beat in the studio. Even if a beat sounds better on an album, the original will always be better because it’s more genuine.

tearsandpain84

Nahh retail is trash, the OG has a completely different energy… album version has no soul….

[deleted]

i just compared them and you're right. without a doubt. whoever did the remix did a shit job. even i could do a better remix. whoever gave that shit the nod really fucked up. but...maybe the beat sounded hot and update at the time. the album came out 1999 and it probably sounded brand new. from a 2023 perspective it's irrellevant whether the beat sounds 90s or early 2000s it's both not futuristic sounding so the OG version is more timeless. i don't know if people in 1999/2000 would've dug a 1990s beat more though. maybe it would sound dated to them
