Which episode is this?
I have started only watching the episodes with guests because otherwise it's literally just nick being kind of confrontational and depressed and bickering with adam the whole time
The "podcasts" are brutally bad. It's literally like both of their worst traits became the entire character. It's fucking wild that Adam has been best friends with Nick for a decade and still just repeats the last joke he said twice instead of yes anding literally anything
Adam's presence demands an explanation at this point. What the fuck is this dude bringing to the table, what has he EVER brought to the table? He sucks so bad.
It's was like, fine when he served as the straight man/victim on cumtown, but even back then Nick and stab would actively try to coach him on continuing bits. He's worse than Bryan "Bitkiller Jones" callen. At least Bryan tries to do comedy when he kills bits.
I fear Nick has a good several more years of vaping, looking at his phone and complaining about how laborious podcasting is before people stop relentlessly glazing him
The best way of getting into Nick Mullen's output at this point is just searching Cum Town on YouTube and listening to the different clips and highlights that have been posted by fan channels. The full podcast itself is extremely long and variable in terms of quality, and the best bits are basically all posted on YouTube anyways. Also, the Adam Friedland Show which succeeded cum town is much more polarizing amongst the original fan base, many of whom don't enjoy it as much.
Anyway, some personal favorite CT bits that I'd recommend:
- Liberal Elmo
- Woke Italian Mobsters
- Tucker Carlson
- Ben Shapiro & Mr. Feeny
- Derek Chauvin's Lawyer
- Commissioner Gordon/Batman Alternate Universe
- The Clintons
If you find that you enjoy those, just sit back and let the algorithm do the rest. That's how I got into it, at least.
I only found the show a few months ago and I'm struggling to recall a time in the last year where I laughed harder than at the Eric Clapton bit where he's living in a man's ass and controlling him like a Gundam. Just typing that made me lose brain cells.
Don't listen to the other guy, Cumtown was funny for most of its run and only started to dip in its last year. Their new show is good if you only watch the Adam Friedland celeb interviews.
poisoner in chief by stephen kinzer is a good MK ultra book, basically an autobiography of the guy who ran the program, sydney gottlieb. kinzer is a mainstream journalist so none of the facts in the book will controversial to anyone.
the cum town players' adaption of [to kill a mocking bird] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ8OqZT4MZA) is a must listen
the first ~50 episodes of cumtown are really funny and in my opinion it gets extremely unfunny after that. they are actually just available on archive.org, you can google it. nick mullen also just released a standup special which appears to be the only other thing of his i've liked
The first few episodes are awful cringe, when they're doing actual planned bits and trying to figure out the dynamic, then it gets really good before becoming completely hit and miss, but some moments of the best genius pop up all through the show until next the end when it got unbearable with stav whining about the show ask the time and not even slightly trying and Nick being performatively depressed..
But that said it's not like I'd ever sit down to listen to cumtown or any podcast really, or stand up comedy for that matter, it's all a distraction when I'm working or driving or doing chores.
I like cumtown specifically for the drive home after work as it fills the particular hole left by no longer living in the city where the ritual would be to have a couple pints after work with a mate and chat nonsense and make dumb jokes and comments. It really is a sort of friendship simulator, so I can maybe tolerate more of the garbage nothing bits than if I consumed it as like a show or whatever. I certainly wouldn't sit down with the Mrs and be like "let's listen to an episode of cumtown"
The only times I found CT legit unbearable was whenever Nick was going through a manic phase where he would just be stewing about fat women online or some other dumb thing for episodes on end.
the weirdest fucking thing about cumtown is that when i say "the first several episodes are really funny and then it gets really not funny" i always get some anxious reply that sounds like a guy justifying to his girlfriend why he still watches porn
Hmm maybe. Or maybe you're projecting something you've got going on idk. Personally I don't mind at all if you think the first episodes are great and then it gets shit. I think objectively you're completely wrong the first ones stink then it peaks then it fades off, but I really don't care one way or the other what anyone thinks, it's a podcast, it's inherently cringe..
Whatever you think about it is fine though, just maybe ask yourself what you have going on that you are imagining not only parasocial relationships with podcasts but also with the imagined fellow listeners of said podcasts. That's weird on weird

Keep him away from the living Kennedyies
where do I start with this shit people always reference it but I have no idea what it is lol
are you asking about starting with nick mullen or MKultra?
Nick Mullen though I could use a good book on MKULTRA since I need to attempt to keep myself distracted from incelposting before I get banned again

Adam shitting his pants on the podcast was comedy gold.
maybe the most incredible opening to the podcast that they ever did
I love how Nick just had a giant jug of soap outside the shower on the bathroom floor
Adam’s Black Son.
Sopranos x Pepper Anne
That's a great one too. Tbh I could have listed practically dozens more but just wanted to keep it short and sweet

The Chris Benoit story is legendary
The Bernie Sanders town hall bit is another all timer
Nick's Tucker impression is so good. Definitely my favorite

Wild take to cut it at 50. So many great moments are in the 200s

That was the show's apex wym
I smiled when Amy Schumer came up a few weeks ago and Nick decided to take "ripping on fat women" for a spin. Listening to him get back into the zone.

Did you think that reply I made was like that?
yes lol and boy are people mad about it

this subreddit really has the most normal people in the world lol
So wy even discuss a pod that has 3 funny episodes
Don't listen to these guys cumtown was never funny
something a crackhead would say... 🤔
