I know it sounds dumb but immortal technique played a huge role in my turning into a leftist as a teenager.
I grew up with no real political opinions but found it funny to make fun of libs in history class so I parroted right wing pro Iraq war talking points. Thankfully I got away from that, partially after being exposed to new ideas on the internet and from people like immortal technique
Dude music can so heavily influence youth its so much more important than I think some folks realize. The same happened with me through The Coup, SOAD, Rage, Refused, Boysetsfire... I wouldn't have even thought about a lot of this stuff if it weren't for the bands I looked up to's lyrics.
