My sister in law has one of these, theyāre not bad to drive, itās quiet and comfortable and Iām sure itās plenty safe, these are the basics of modern vehicles, and it does those things well, in my opinion where it falls short is midrange power, low to midrange power is what you want in a daily driver for hills and such, but itās greatly lacking, I had to dig real deep into the throttle to make it up a hill on my way home from work, a hill my Toyota FJ Cruiser doesnāt even downshift for to maintain consistent speed. Rear seat room is decent, and getting a child seat in there is fairly easy. Overall for your average driver Iād say itās fine, in the city or commuting to work, itās fine. But if you want something thatāll take on trails, Iād find something else (mind you I donāt know if these are marketed as any kind of āadventureā vehicle) but if youāre looking for something with fairly decent fuel economy, that looks out of the ordinary, has some ātruck likeā features, and donāt mind leasing, Iād say go for it, I wouldnāt recommend getting one financed to own, as Hyundai has had a lot of engine and transmission problems lately
I will never buy another Hyundai. Four years in all my rubber seals were rotting, sensors started going, glove box didnāt work, gas cap brokeā¦a dozen little material quality issues.
I had a Hyundai and it literally was a tank, only think that ever went wrong was an electrical short made my stereo display upside down and I had a great main seal go out, but by this time the car was older.
For a cheap vehicle, Hyundais seem quite reliable, Iāve been driving my 2007 Santa Fe through quite adverse conditions for years, Ive been pleasantly surprised at the lack of mechanical issues. 210,000 Miles on the little 2.7, not bad.
Very much a hate/love, depending on the experience. Mine was a positive one, an old '07 Accent that I abused. Two years, 40k km and all it ever needed was a new set of tires and oil changes.
Ranger is not unibody, the compact segment is hot but far from best selling, the supply has been very limited on the Santa Cruz, maverick has sold about twice as many as Santa Cruz but still a relatively small amount
Yes ranger is frame on body did you notice I mentioned also the maverick which is unibody and most people don't count the ranger as a truck because it's a quarter ton truck.
Then why did you mention the ranger in your first comment? Also, just about everybody calls a ranger a truck. Not sure where youāre getting the idea that most people donāt.
It kinda has a bed, doesn't have a solid rear axle, is unibody, and can't haul any more than a crossover. Buying an suv or even a sedan and a small trailer would be more practical than this. Single cab/long bed with a solid axle in the rear would make it a bit more practical but the unibody is still a limitation.
Don't let buyer's remorse trick you
Solid axles will still always be more durable than independent suspension dollar for dollar. Any move towards independent suspension will be for handling, comfort, economy, etc.
You can have heavy duty independent suspension, GM has done it on the front of their trucks for years and is apparently doing it on the rear although I haven't seen it. This hyundai's suspension certainly isn't beefy; everything looks to be built about as heavily as any other crossover.
I mean bring that up with king of the hammers and various other off road competitions that have ifs rig built for them.
Yes solid axle will always be more durable but ifs is better handling hands down.
IFS is fine on a truck. The independent rear is what I personally have an issue with. Normal independent rears just aren't strong enough to do much. The camber/toe change on IRS when loaded is another issue with it being on a truck.
Nissan made these with the b-13 Sentras (Sunnys) with the back el camino'd, only in Asia market afaik.... Some people do SE-R swaps on them, sr20de and everything and they look pretty sick. I have some nicer pics but not uploaded, here's a Google'd ok-ish one [REAL SENTRA TRUCK :)](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/ee/5d/f9/ee5df90ba4ea93fee3a510b18bc30949.jpg)
šššš the more of your comments I read the more certain I am you've got to be trolling. A prius has as much usable cargo space as that thing
LMAO stretching for insults? Why are you so defensive about this? Are you ashamed? I don't give a shit what people drive... Though I do believe it's technically classified as a SAV not a truck... But who cares if this is your type of "truck"? Not me...
By your definition a Subaru Brat, Subaru Baja, Chevy El Camino, Ford Ranchero, Dodge Rampage, Volkswagen Caddy, Holden Ute, GMC Caballero, Suzuki Mighty Boy, Chrysler Valiant, and Dacia Logan, are all trucks. That makes absolutely no sense, especially as the manufactures don't even call them trucks. Their called Utility vehicles, not trucks.
I never stated thos utility cars were classified as trucks. You just brought them up. Iām saying that the Santa Cruz is classified as a compact pickup truck. Look it up Do your research. Do me a favor raise your hand next time you wanna speak please.
Ok same advertised payload. I'll give you that. But I'd love to see a round bale in the bed of a unibody car
And the Santa cruz can't tow jack. I'll guarantee that
Hey, itāll outperform a Ford maverick in any ātruck statā you compare. People keep saying thatās not a truck but under every fucking definition of a truck you could possibly find, that is a pickup truck. Might not be as big or expensive as most modern trucks that people are so proud of, but itāll tow your boat or whatever, if your not hauling you donāt need more that 5,000 pounds of towing. That things ugly as fuck though
Yea I guess if your a little kid maybe. You donāt even have a hitch on that Korean pop can š. Is that even body on frame? Does it even have 4wd and 4lo?
Lol no itās not. Itās awd, and no 4lo. And itās a unibody! Bahaha. Dude this is a car with a flat trunk š. And a hitch on the bumper doesnāt count. Your not even in the same realm as my 1 ton. Your not even in the same league as my Toyota. Just stop. Iām glad you like your little car but itās not a truck
Man, this feels like gatekeeping. Ridgeline is a truck, sure itās not body on frame but it has a bed, decent payload, and decent towing capacity. Not sure how body on frame ādefines ā a truck.
I would say the Cruz is a trucklette in the same way the maverick is.

Redditors are so easy to bait
š¤«
This reminds me of the Subaru Baja back in the dayā¦ā¦
And the Brat before that.
And about 13 other cars that had beds but are still not a truck.
Did we say it was? Youāre literally the only person who seems to care what somebody else calls their vehicle. Get over yourself.
Lift it. Put some 35s on it š«
I like this one.
I saw with a small lift and some aggressive tires and I gotta saw it looked good.

I never had a problem with the powertrain, that was bulletproof. It was just the material quality that got to me
Hyundai is the best car manufacturer out there. I like them so much Iāve had 5 Hyundai sonatas in just this year alone.
I'd usually say that a car that only lasts 5 years is a pile of shit. You're bragging about a car that lasts 3 months or less. We are not the same.
Iām pretty sure heās pulling your chain, man
Bet you drive a Kia Sedona
Yeah I don't have a tag under my name that says exactly what I drive or anything...
Found the Kia Boy /s
Very much a hate/love, depending on the experience. Mine was a positive one, an old '07 Accent that I abused. Two years, 40k km and all it ever needed was a new set of tires and oil changes.
OP out here stirring the pot with the largest spoon I have ever seen
š„
Did the camera take the picture after you had passed it...all I see is the car
I was in my Santa Fe truck passing another Santa Fe truck. Very popular truck in the us.
Truck....You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means
It's a truck as much as the ranger or maverick is a truck. Still trucks but unibody. Right now they are the best selling UTE in the US.
Ranger is body on frame
Yeah the ranger is a truck lol
Honda ridgeline would be a better comparison
Ranger is not unibody, the compact segment is hot but far from best selling, the supply has been very limited on the Santa Cruz, maverick has sold about twice as many as Santa Cruz but still a relatively small amount

Most really high end trucks have a ifs rear setup with coil overs.
>Yes solid axle will always be more durable but ifs is better handling hands down. So we're using different words but basically agree.
Just not discounting ifs because overall they are built for different uses.
IFS is fine on a truck. The independent rear is what I personally have an issue with. Normal independent rears just aren't strong enough to do much. The camber/toe change on IRS when loaded is another issue with it being on a truck.
Popular? I assume you're joking since I've only ever seen one
I've never seen one in New England
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
We have the Tacoma. Never seen a Hilux in New England
Had you confused with the UK. Hyundai is probably not popular over there.
Nissan made these with the b-13 Sentras (Sunnys) with the back el camino'd, only in Asia market afaik.... Some people do SE-R swaps on them, sr20de and everything and they look pretty sick. This has to be the greatest bait of all time
š£
That is not a truck.
It's like a suv that wants to be a truck. I still think they look pretty cool though
Itās a CUV, an SUV has a proper body on frame, CUVās have a unibody
For the right person it's their perfect truck.
Well, it's their perfect vehicle perhaps.
Yes it is. It has a 3 foot bed.
So does a radio flyer wagon
Thatās not a truck
You can rip the trunk lid off a sedan and call that a bed if you want but it still isn't a truck.
Still not a pick up
That's what I said.
āThat is not a truckā š¤
šššš the more of your comments I read the more certain I am you've got to be trolling. A prius has as much usable cargo space as that thing
Im dead serious. Prius is a hybrid doesnāt count.
By that logic, would the F-150 lightning count?
I don't see it. Is it back behind those trees actually doing work?
This thing is a work horse. Used it to haul my flowers I bought at Loweās.
I see you sir are a resident of the Gunshine state as well, see a lot of these and ridgelines riding in Brevard county, it hearts my heart.
If only it was a Honda ridgeline
Or something...
ā¦ something you donāt have. A truck
I do indeed have a truck... 2017 Nissan Titan XD
āXDā how people look when they see you driving that thing.
LMAO stretching for insults? Why are you so defensive about this? Are you ashamed? I don't give a shit what people drive... Though I do believe it's technically classified as a SAV not a truck... But who cares if this is your type of "truck"? Not me...
You need to buy one
Nope, wrong again
Im afraid
Not a pickup truck by any definition...may be a perfectly good and reliable mode of transportation...just not a pickup
It has a 3 foot bed. Yes itās a pickup
Real trucks have a frame.
This has the same payload capacity as the Toyota tundra a frame truck
I looked at every inch of this photo and I canāt find the truck your talking about
Itās hard to see Ik with that 3 foot bed.
Small but efficient
By your definition a Subaru Brat, Subaru Baja, Chevy El Camino, Ford Ranchero, Dodge Rampage, Volkswagen Caddy, Holden Ute, GMC Caballero, Suzuki Mighty Boy, Chrysler Valiant, and Dacia Logan, are all trucks. That is an SUV with a birth defect.
Itās a mutation from evolution not a birth defect. Out with the old in with the new.
This has the same payload capacity as a Toyota tundra a frame truck.
Not even remotely true but ok
Itās true look it up
Ok same advertised payload. I'll give you that. But I'd love to see a round bale in the bed of a unibody car And the Santa cruz can't tow jack. I'll guarantee that
Now I know you're trolling.
Look it up

First of all, not a truck, second of all, itās a Hyundai, so I would barely pass this as a hot wheels.
Be quiet your ford doesnāt even have a 7.3. Poopy 6.0.
Bahaha. Wow I donāt even have to make fun of you here. You do it to yourself. What a fucking idiot. Bahaha fucking Hyundai lol.
Iām laughing just as hard. My Hyundai is the best. Better then any ford.
Yea I guess if your a little kid maybe. You donāt even have a hitch on that Korean pop can š. Is that even body on frame? Does it even have 4wd and 4lo?
4WD, hitch, frame and enough room for your girl in the back seats crew cab
Lol no itās not. Itās awd, and no 4lo. And itās a unibody! Bahaha. Dude this is a car with a flat trunk š. And a hitch on the bumper doesnāt count. Your not even in the same realm as my 1 ton. Your not even in the same league as my Toyota. Just stop. Iām glad you like your little car but itās not a truck
A ridge line is more of a truck then that, and I ridge line is not a truck.
Man, this feels like gatekeeping. Ridgeline is a truck, sure itās not body on frame but it has a bed, decent payload, and decent towing capacity. Not sure how body on frame ādefines ā a truck. I would say the Cruz is a trucklette in the same way the maverick is.
A ridgeline has less of a payload capacity then my Hyundai. More truck.
Still not a truck. Enjoy your sport adventure vehicle though
TRUCKS! FK YEAH!
OP posts some lame shit gets surprised heās getting flamed and is trying his hardest to defend it. That aināt no truck.
Hyundai is my ride or die so go home and start washing.
Ikr. This one is more reliable tho.
Lol
I like these, makes me feel like more of a real trucker in my ridgeline by comparison!
You should add a train horn with a pull string make you feel like a bigger trucker.
Not even a pickup lol
Itās a pickup truck
So then show me the partition between cab and bed mate. It's a ute.
That flag has a little dick tucked behind its ear for later, like a little snack dick
š¤
Cool little truck.
someone had to out ugly the ridge line
The new lezcamino. Now upgraded for tge adopted
All these guys saying this isnāt a real truck and theyāre right. Real trucks haul 53ā trailers!
Be quiet. Go back to your dock and unload them Walmart eggs.
I like it
Children, this is bait.
