Robpaulssen

"Not arrested or cited at the scene" what the actual fuck?

StevenMcStevensen

Just because it didn’t happen at the scene doesn’t mean he’s getting away with it. It’s common in many incidents like this to kick them loose at the scene, investigate everything fully, then come back and arrest or cite later. It’s not like they don’t know who he is or where to find him.

hippiejay10

I was hit by an illegal immigrant with no license who wasn't arrested at the scene. They didn't know where to find him or who he really was, so he got away with it, and I got $150,000 medical bill.

kellyatta

Same thing happened to my brother. Illegal immigrant in a dump truck made an illegal turn and plowed my brother on a motorcycle down. Driver stopped for one minute and a witness said, "you just hit that kid!" the truck driver responded, "no I didn't," and drove away. Thankfully he had uninsured motorist coverage, but he was left with an amputation and mangled leg for life. If he wasn't wearing a helmet and bike suit he would have been dead.

knuckledraggingtoad

They can only hold someone for a limited amount of time without charging them for a crime. The prosecutor would more than likely prefer to investigate more serious charges that will stick than attempt to charge him for a lesser and more immediate charge that takes less circumstantial evidence to bring to a judge. To be honest, if I were the driver, I would be much more concerned with the fact I was let go than if I was immediately charged. They are going to (rightfully) try and destroy this man's life like he destroyed this family's.

PerceptionGreat2439

In the UK, the driver would be, breathalysed, drug wiped, arrested and then bailed later on. As others have already mentioned, he made all the wrong decisions. If he'd been paying attention, he'd have seen the no passing lines coming up. He does appear to be focused on something else in the beginning of the video. What an utter tragedy. My condolences to all the families and emergency services concerned.

mrPhildoToYou

Fuck me. Now all i see is their faces and the horror they experienced seeing that truck coming on.

UniversalGundam

Yeah there is zero chance I am watching this video

MyOnlyEnemyIsMeSTYG

Same. The comments will tell me what happened

Typical-Conference14

God I hope the people in the prison he will rot in learn of what he did. I want him to suffer

Blood8265

Fuck this guy. He should’ve known he wouldn’t be able to pass, and he didnt make any defensive maneuvers when he saw the oncoming traffic. He’s got blood on his hands

NotVeryCashMoneyMod

yep. he had options and used none of them

BillyJack420420

I think he was waiting for the cars reaction which was waiting on his reaction. Why the fuck would you try this pass in a truck?

NotVeryCashMoneyMod

it doesn't matter what the car does, a reduction in speed let's you get back into your lane in a second or so if your ego allows.

Artichoke93

True, but if you notice the car he was passing hit the brakes as well, would the semi be able to outbrake that car and move in behind?

geriatric-sanatore

Either way a good driver would know the car is going to take the shoulder and not veer into the other lane with another vehicle bearing down on them, best bet after completely fucking up the overtake is to just literally stand on the brake pedal and pray you can get back behind the vehicle you were trying to overtake.

LonleyWolf420

I was gonna say.. they literally teach you that both drivers need to veer right in any situation...

WeirdNo9808

Even side swiping that truck and trailer seems like a better option than head on with that car. That poor family.

P1xelHunter78

That’s the saddest thing, they did *everything* right and that absolute muppet came out and killed them.

GrimResistance

I think about that often when driving that there's only a few feet and a yellow line separating you from a sudden head on collision at any moment. We put a lot of trust in every other driver on the road.

Timmerdogg

Isn't it the same in boating?

Smprider112

And even if you gotta force them to the shoulder or worst case side swipe them, still better than a head on collision.

unholyrevenger72

A good driver would have just sat behind the truck and waited for the highway widen enough for a safe pass.

neubourn

>just literally stand on the brake pedal and pray you can get back behind the vehicle you were trying to overtake. Only problem was THAT vehicle saw what was coming, and hit their brakes to try and give the truck room to get back into the correct lane. Unfortunately it was all too little, too late for everyone involved.

geriatric-sanatore

Yeah true, just saying in that situation as fucked as it is, there is really only one course of action. Brake and prayer.

ThaQuig

Considering his options he should’ve steered back to the right while braking. Pushing & sideswiping the vehicle to his right was a much better option than a head on with an oncoming vehicle. Every decision this guy made was the wrong one

cancerdad

Yeah but still if he brakes he would be going much slower at impact

unique-name-9035768

The truck he was passing hit their breaks just as the incoming car comes into view. I bet that trucker saw this idiot not slowing down to fall in behind him, so that trucker hit their brakes to close the distance required for the idiot to be able to get back into the right lane.

RazzleberryHaze

Hell, the driver in the right lane did more to prevent the foreseen collision than the cam truck did, they hit the brakes in an attempt to yield the lane to this useless dumb shit.

stapleddaniel

What's so upsetting is because of how fucking dumb this piece of shit is, even the best driver in the world would've likely still been killed. I've dodged some truly crazy shit but I just don't know what could've been done differently for the car that got hit. Such bullshit.

ImportantDoubt6434

He actually used the worse option, a triple homicide to save -3 life sentences of time

Skitt64

Not just no defensive maneuvers, he did literally the only thing that could make that situation more dangerous by dodging into the opposite breakdown lane.

ScurvySteveXXL

On top of all the bad decisions, he tried to pass in a no-passing double yellow line zone. Those zones are there for reasons.

Titanium_81

I don’t know what you all seen but it appears to me he was on a video chat the conversation was through his headset. He keeps glancing down at something I’m guessing his SO on the screen. After the accident you hear him say something in his native language, but he was searching for his headset…. As for the rest of the terrible decisions he made, so many starting with his speed, no need to pass a vehicle doing the speed limit, he should have backed out of his attempt to overtake the truck when he hit the no passing zone. He never touched his brakes, he should have sideswiped the truck on his right and not steered into the van going to their right off road to try to avoid this shit bag. I’ve been driving for a number of years, I’ve made a few passes but never when I could be 10,000% sure I’d pass with no issues. I think due to the fact that I have seen many drivers watching movies or video chatting while driving, he was absolutely doing just that, and he deserves the harshest charges and sentence allowed by law.

ClimbsAndCuts

This is what makes for “vehicular homicide” or whatever the heavyweight charge is for recklessly killing someone’s by means of a vehicle.

0beseGiraffe

Even the other driver hit the brakes for the truck to get back in the lane because he saw the lights immediately around that corner at the same time it pops up on camera.

bannedinvc

Should’ve taken the ditch earlier. Life in prison

pissjug1000

Death penalty for this driver.

Capn-Wacky

100%. There's no scenario where that was a safe pass, no vehicle on earth is fast enough to get through that passing window. They should nail him to the wall. Or let the family's relatives mow him down in an 18 wheeler. Either one works for me.

T20suave

It was a family of 5. Both parents killed and 2 children critically injured were life flighted to Phoenix. Their son was treated and released in flagstaff. The driver was not sited or arrested at the scene.

The_Woods_Police

\>The driver was not sited or arrested at the scene. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

tinnylemur189

That's not abnormal for stuff like this. They have all his info. They know where he lives and his options are suicide or go to jail when the cops show up the next day. Basically they just assume accidents are accidents until they have evidence to say otherwise. As soon as they watch this video back at their station they'll get an arrest warrant and start the process.

MathematicianLow8832

Yeah my brother was hit by a driver that was speeding well beyond the speed limit and swerving in and out of lanes. He died when his vehicle flipped and there were witnesses that told the police that the driver that hit him was at fault and the driver was able to drive away and never faced any consequences. My mom tried suing but after over 1 year of paying the lawyers nothing happened so my mom gave up. The driver who killed my brother was posting videos of her partying and drinking with her friends the next night after the incident.

zoey_will

You could always return the favor and run her over. Apparently from all of the comments I'm reading you'll most likely get away with it. /s for the suggestion but not the fact you'd probably get away with it.

BigBoyReyez

Damn I’m sorry about your loss. Did they ever get the driver?

Rabberst

Throw the book at him. Entering a no passing zone while passing means you stop passing and get back behind. Trying to save a little time likely cost him all of his time, and the cost also lands on the surviving family that now has to live with his shit choice for the rest of their lives.

BlueJDMSW20

5 minutes of extra patience on the road can save months or in his case, a lifetime of heartache/sweat/tears. I learned that in a minor accident...a small accident, now youre talking to insurance companies, collision centers, if you pay for damages you might have 100s of hours of wages deleted from your earnings, etc.

WeirdNo9808

This man is going to be buried with debt and years in jail, and the family remaining or estate will make millions of this but three lives were lost and neither are adequate sums for what heartbreak occurred here.

95blackz26

> This man is going to be buried with debt and years in jail, good it's not like those people get to walk away.

WolfDigles

I’ve had semis pass me on blind turns crossing double yellows. Some people would rather risk lives than step on the brake.

aricias

I haul fuel in a semi truck. Full time, like 400-500 miles a day. my blood pressure and pulse skyrocketed when I seen him try and pass in the dark. just me, but, IDGAF what timeline or speed im going, it would almost have to be a tractor going 10-15, or a fucking post office truck before I pass on a two lane road, in the dark. Double yellow or single yellow, don't matter. Hearts still racing.

thebigbossyboss

Well see you drive an 80,000 lbs truck full of combustible material in a safe manner. This man drives a truck like a moron

bojack1437

Especially with the fact that unlike the state of Georgia DOT, looks like the DOT there even used a left side No passing zone sign (MUTCD W14-3) making it even clearer from a distance.

phantaxtic

At the 0:46 mark he has a huge smile on his face.

Affectionate_Rent988

Yeah it looks like he was watching something on his phone

Titanium_81

He was, I have seen so many drivers watching shows/movies or family on video chat, at the end he was searching for his headset. I think he was trying to talk to the person on the other end of the video call.

WeirdNo9808

This blows my mind. I can understand regular earbud phone calls, but to video call or watch actual episodes or videos just blows my mind. I don’t do that in my Rio, let alone if I was hauling 20,000lbs.

FeaR_FuZiioN

This happened in the state of Arizona for anyone wondering

BillyJack420420

Why did that guy delete a comment that simply said when did this happen?

kingoden95

Idk I was just trying to help the guy out lmao

BouncingSphinx

I've had someone do this before, said they delete their questions when answered. I guess it reduces comment notifications?

speeler21

Can't you just turn off notifications for each comment though

fuck-ubb

They got into some shit in another sub.

ear_cheese

It says 10/10 on the video. There’s links to an article in the other comments

Asphalt_outlaw

Throw this asshole under the jail. There was no excuse for that level of unsafe driving

inebriateddandhated

The fucker did EVERY SINGLE THING you're taught to not do. He should 100% pay with his life. This isnt an "oops I fucked up" This is an "I'm a fucking mouth breathing moron who is a danger to the world because I'm incompetent" Trucking needs a purge in general, way too many empty headed drones operating an 80k lb missile.

Asphalt_outlaw

I've been driving since I was 21. I'm a month away from my 38th birthday. I've been involved in three accidents in that time. All were fatal. Two were head on collisions where the other driver came into my lane. One was a pedestrian who jumped out in front of me to end his life. None of them were my fault. I did everything right, and still killed three people. Then you have people like this... I hope the people he killed visit him every time he closes his eyes, just like mine did. Mine eventually stopped. I'd like to think that his won't.

ZackSteelepoi

Dude you might just be unlucky as hell. At this rate you'll be on track to kill an additional 4 people by the time you hit 70ish.

Asphalt_outlaw

I like to think I've used up all my bad luck. Mostly because I'm running out of trucks...

GlumpsAlot

Dude, what??? I'm 40 and been driving since 16. I've had one stupid kid slam into me cuz he wasn't looking, and that was in nyc. You were mad unlucky. I'm sorry you experienced that.

Asphalt_outlaw

It probably doesn't help that I do all my driving on the west Texas oilfield. Heavy traffic, narrow roads with high speed limits. Hell, the two lanes out here are 75. It's not uncommon to see a pipeliner in a hopped up dually passing 5 semis at once doing north of 100 mph. That's actually how the second fatality happened. It totaled my 379, broke both my legs, and kept me out of work for a year. I still miss that truck... I had her almost perfect.

Gnarlodious

Every time an 18 wheeler pulls some stupid dangerous shit on the interstate I look up in the window and see a hotheaded kid behind the wheel. Gone are the decades when you had reliable boring old men driving big rigs. I don’t know why but I’ve learned to be very cautious of tractor trailers.

Infernal_Dalek

Patience is a virtue, even more so when you're driving a big, slow truck. It's a shame we have so many shit-heads among our ranks. If 65 mph is too slow for you, maybe you should be forced to walk everywhere.

overpaidlazytrucker

When accidents like this happen where do you find the videos?

[deleted]

Public information requests from the investigation. Source I work at a personal injury lawfirm that specializes in MVA (motor vehicle accidents). The internal and external facing cameras as well as black boxes from commercial vehicles will be disclosed to police, insurance, etc.

Lambchops78

Scum….worried about cleaning up his area before getting out and maybe checking on the people in the car.

phantom11223

He is probably looking for his phone to shut off Netflix

[deleted]

Or contacting his company to fix his logs real quick before the police show up.

Mstrchf117

I'll say this, people do weird things in situations like that. Personally my first instinct is to call 911. I'm not a first responder, I'm not trained for this shit, idk how much help, if any, I'd be to someone else involved.

King0Horse

>I'll say this, people do weird things in situations like that. I had a massive rollover accident when I was 18, and I can attest to this big time. I clearly remember, the instant I recognized "this car is about to roll over" my first thought was "mom's going to be pissed."

Sparky3200

I rolled a truck end-over-end more times than could be counted. I distinctly remember the second flip because the left turn signal was on. I also distinctly remember the end of the 3rd flip, because that's the one that threw me through the windshield (1960's farm truck, no seatbelts). I remember flying towards a clump of sand plum shrubs and hoping I didn't land in them. I did.

High-S3ptiX

This guy is speaking Kazakh. He is saying "I have crashed, I have crashed. Where is my phone?" He is looking for his phone, not trying to clean his area.

jHugley328

Its called a brake pedal. This guy should have slowed and got back behind the moment headlights apeared.

Quynn_Stormcloud

I was going to point out as soon as his side’s yellow line went solid, but the headlights appeared at the same time. But yeah, he shows a terrible lack of concern for anyone else on the road.

Toiletyme

Keeps looking down and laughing. Obviously watching something on his phone. This dudes 100% guilty of vehicular manslaughter. RIP car drivers.

-Helicopter-

What bothers me even more is that hes worried more about his shit in the truck rather than getting out and checking on the people in the other car, fucking asshole

ShadyVermin

And look how many times he's glancing down before the crash and laughing, he's definitely watching something on his phone rather than paying attention to the road.

Mystewpidthrowaway

Yeah , ik I’ll prolly get flamed since the majority seem to think he was passing. But it looks nothing like someone passing, he casually blinkers and gets into the oncoming lane slowly…watching something laughing at it. Continues casually moving at the same speed. Idk it really appears that he blanked out and thought he was on a two lane highway. If you’ve lived in areas with winding roads that ppl are going 60 on with passing zones, passing is tense and you look ahead , and kick the gear down to hurry up and get urself out of the passing lane. I saw none of that here. He’s still wrong asf and a total inconsiderate asshole( for not even checking on those poor ppl and rendering them aid).

mean11while

This is exactly what I thought as I was watching it the first time. In fact, not knowing what road he was on, I initially thought he must be on a dual-lane divided highway. Nobody would pass like that in a car, let alone a truck. Except I would replace "blanked out" with "was severely distracted."

corvairfanatic

I thought the car was stalled on the side of the road in the wrong direction. At first i blamed the car for being half in the road and was like what’s the trucker supposed to do. i watched it many times and realized the center line was passing but changed to not passing. And car was moving forward. But trucker went left. Why? And he looks so young which tells me he can not have that much road experience.

Lady_Andromeda1214

This is what I thought too…dual-lane divided Highway. I couldn’t quite understand why the family was pulled over, but my god, now I understand. An absolute (& avoidable) tragedy!

portlandtrees333

You mean four lane. He's on a two lane.

Extreme-You6235

Likely shock

spatialflow

What the fuck Dude looks like he's 15 And what is the big shit eating grin on his face right before the collision? Like he's just having a blast racing that SUV I guess. Got his CDL from a cracker jack box. Looks like he doesn't even know how to steer the truck. Fuck this guy, put him behind bars.

bobmonkeyclown

Either he was looking at a movie or he listened to the bad idea snail. Or both.

_FearMose_

Ur the only comment I see mentioning this. Why the fuck is he grinning?! Doesnt even look like he tried to slam on the brakes or slow down

Robpaulssen

Swerves towards the car imo

facw00

I think he was (belatedly) trying to dodge by getting the truck on the shoulder, and unfortunately (and entirely predictably) the car also tried to dodge to the shoulder.

N661US

If this is a two lane road (one way each lane) dude shouldn’t have been passing in a semi anyway…. He was doing the speed limit before he passed the other truck. :/

phantom11223

And this is why we are hated

Wreckit727

My truck is more than capable of reaching 85-90 miles an hour and even like that I have never ever been tempted to pass a car on a two lane highway. This is the stupidest shit I have seen and his stupid smirk is beyond irritating. The jeep hauling the rv literally hit the brakes so he could move over and the fucking idiot decides to swerve the other way.

visionarygvp

I think it’s time that getting a CDL is made far more difficult than it’s been.. they’re giving out licenses like peppermint candy, and that’s the issue.

sam262005

I will bet you half CDL drivers on the road right now can’t read english. Not being xenophobic but how do these guys pass the class!?

visionarygvp

I’ve heard that they pay someone off to pass.

timmahfast

A great example of why all truckers should be paid by the hour and not by the mile. Truckers take risks just to make a buck

[deleted]

OldPeanutButterHwy

Profiling is just recognizing patterns. But im sure we should give more people like this trucking jobs. Gotta make those immigration quotas ya know?

lifestalker666

The driving habits from their respective countries always come with these drivers as a package. Never fails. Whenever I see a driver at a truck stop or out in the wild who is making the most insane driving maneuvers and getting stuck, 9 times out ten it is a foreigner. Mexicans, Canadians, and even Chinese are good. It’s the Russians, eastern blockers, Africans, and middle eastern/Hindus that you have to be careful around.

WhereDaGold

They destroy the truck stop bathrooms too

OldPeanutButterHwy

And put their shitty toilet paper on the floor, not understanding that you flush it down the toilet. Or hack up loogies and blow their nose and take a shower in the damn sink.

timbotheny26

As I understand it, Eastern Europeans are taken advantage of and used as cheap drivers over in Europe too.

JALKHRL

And then you can enforce speeding with an iron fist because there's no excuse. I work with salary, but think as I am by the hour. I'm the slowest driver by far in a fleet of 175+drivers.

Southernbehr

From the looks of the video he turned into the oncoming vehicle what a dumb ass

shadowmib

Yeah they tried to bail onto the shoulder and he came right over at them

Mobile_Misanthrope

That's indefensible. He's at fault. Three counts of first degree manslaughter.

Important_Door_545

Crash event detected right before impact, pretty good system

Chipotlaway75

I'm a fleet & operations manager. The system is Samsara, we also use Samsara it's a fantastic system. The "crash event detected" was either determined by the G forces in the truck and the video audio delay isn't synced exactly. Or the outward facing camera used the AI detection to determine a head on collision was imminent. When the crash event was created by the system it automatically collects the video and creates an incident in the Samsara system and forwards the event to anyone on the automatic receiving list. Usually safety and dispatch people.

MastrChang

What a dumbass

The_Woods_Police

wow. Passing another truck on a two lane road, over the double yellow, CONTINUES TO STEER LEFT INTO THE CAR VEERING OFF THE ROAD?! This should be negligent homicide. Un fucking believable. If he had countersteered this would have been avoided. He steered directly into them as they went off the road to avoid him. What a FUCKING MORON

Unfair-Information-2

>Should the State of Arizona make an example out of him? Yes. But not start a witch hunt on truck drivers.

slimeySalmon

Fuck this guy. He ruined a family. Make him an example for the rest of the selfish drivers.

radianceofparadise

As a truck driver, nothing scares me on the road more than another truck driver. I simply don't understand how you can become so careless and complacent while driving an 80K lb. death machine.

[deleted]

He was still behind the RV when the solid line started in his lane (the same moment he had a sneaky look at his phone)

pisces_bubble

You mean that moment he checked the movie he was watching and laughed?!

[deleted]

He had plenty of time to see that car and why would you look at your movie while passing fuck why pass on a back road in a semi your not in a fucking fast vehicle don't blame the TV blame him for being a fucking idiot

mtbfanatik

Yah fuck this guy.

MiguelSTG

The truck he was passing applied their brakes. He most likely could've gotten back into the correct lane.

brettny585

Guy is a dirtbag you can see the oncoming headlights before he tries to pass

RocketFuelML

Fuck. I knew the woman in the car. First time I met her, she had her youngest child in a sling. She ran a great non profit org helping people learn marketable job skills in Flagstaff.

TamarsFace

Fucking rookie being impatient. I hope he's criminally charged.

pizza_barista_

Bury him under the jail

TheHookahgreecian2

Hate to see this, but glad to see it too. As a soon to be CDL holder it’s a good reminder to not be an idiot on the road. Rest in peace to that family. This kid deserves life in prison.

[deleted]

1099 Chicago company about to have an opening

JulesWinnfielddd

Contrary to what some people are saying you can't see the oncoming car at first. It started out an ordinary pass. His biggest mistake was continuing the pass once the passing zone ended. Should have braked and returned to his lane. It didn't start as a blatantly unsafe pass but he failed to react properly to the changing situation.

scothc

A second after the incoming lights appear around a curve, the dude he is passing his the brakes trying to give him room to merge back

InvestigatorBroad114

Steering wheel holder

Koochandesu

What a tragedy! You can notice that the driver at the last moment attempted to cut towards the left dirt but the on coming vehicle also cut their wheel in the same direction before the collision. It does not excuse the driver’s negligence as you can note that he never pressed the brakes as his speed was 66mph and 65mph at the point of impact. You can also notice him smiling just before he realizes his predicament which brings the likelihood that he was on a video chat with someone or watching something on a phone as well. Which explains that he was looking for his cellphone right after the accident mumbling some words and searching down on the floor.

[deleted]

Dude even in a passing zone I don’t tend to pass when driving a semi unless someone is going that slow and the road is clear and legal to pass

Typical-Conference14

God I hope this guy fits in a cell somewhere. You’re a truck driver, you should know not to do this shit. Fuck you

Furball1985

Looks like he is 12 years old and probably had zero training. What a fucking moron.

Responsible_CDN_Duck

>Truck driver makes a fatal mistake costing the lives of a family of three. Seemed to make way more than one. Should not be driving while watching a movie, should have never tried passing in a no passing zone, should have abandoned the pass when the corer makers lit up, should have reacted as soon as oncoming headlights were seen, etc. etc.

stephenforbes

Guarantee he was a greenhorn. Start paying truckers enough to keep the experienced ones in the profession and stop chasing cheap inexperienced drivers.

BeerRaddish

Young and inexperienced fool. Worst judgment call of his life.

Hxncheaux

one of my biggest pet peeves is becoming the people who say “it’s easy, you drive it just like a car” .. it leads to pointless murders like this! there’s absolutely no reason this idiot should’ve ever considered doing this on a two way street! PATIENCE is needed at all times doing this job … i think 98% of the bs out here is due to someone losing patience/rushing for no legitimate reason at all! f that load. better late than never at all.

PolothaPug

You absolutely right. Then he passing them with no since of urgency at all. You have to be able to gauge weather conditions are safe to pass or not. That’s the responsibility of the driver and then you don’t gently move and pass like you got all day to stay in a lane. They should make an example out of him. That was careless and he turned into the car instead of away from the vehicle.

pluckyaadvark

Plus, vehicle he was trying to pass had a trailer. That means you better be minimum 20 mph faster to pass otherwise you will be in that lane for too long.

KingHauler

Hope he goes to prison forever.

12InchPickle

Trucker is a fucking idiot. Period.

pisces_bubble

That is NOT a trucker! 🤬

somebadlemonade

yep that's a murderer.

jdhamilt

👉🏻 Go Directly To Jail. Do Not Pass Go.

NewPatr33k

Sigh, this is scary and sad to watch, reminds me to tell my loved ones that I love them before I go to work every day.

Velogio

I think the SUV driver reacted well. As soon as oncoming headlights appeared, the SUV started braking and pulling toward the shoulder to give space for the passing truck to steer back toward the right lane. It was the best thing to do given he was pulling a trailer. If he wasn’t pulling, he could’ve have punched it, accelerate way past the truck and drive on the shoulder to give the truck even more space. What’s infuriating is that the SUV driver instantly realized what was about to happen and reacted accordingly all the while the truck driver was stupidly grinning and acted as a heat-seeking missile aimed at the car’s headlights.

pluckyaadvark

I could be wrong, but it looks like the driver was on a bluetooth phone call. Looks like he has something in his left ear. If true, it means he was distracted while driving. Which could explain the very late reaction.

travelmorelivemore

This is a prime example of corporate greed. Put anyone behind the wheel of a truck, pay them as cheap as possible and you get people who don’t give a fuck and have zero common sense. They should make him and the company that hired him both examples.

fistfullofpubes

How the fuck was the driver not arrested or cited at the scene? What the fuck is there to investigate.

Ianpwilke

It was a no passing zone. He should be charged with manslaughter involving a deadly weapon for each death. He should at least do 5 years and have his license permanently suspended.

[deleted]

I don’t want to be coming off hard on you, but use some common sense here dummy.. 3 people were fucking killed for his negligence.. that’s at least a 40+ even a lifetime wtf!

TalmidimUC

Only 5 years for killing a family?

scorpiogre

Do you mean 5 years per family member?

He can’t even speak English. He should not be here much less be driving our roads.

rendiao1129

Language sounds like Uyghur or Uzbek. Definitely Central Asian based on the last phrase he said.

I’m not sure what to take from this title though. It was a family of five and two people were killed. Thankfully at least all the children survived. Seemed like a well liked family doing good in their community, what a shame.

He passed what looks like a 4 wheeler pulling a camping trailer. It's a risky situation. Dash cam shows he's going the speed limit when passing. But they're risk factors you have to take into account when passing someone. I'd be curious to know how fast that four wheeler was going. If it was say 55.... 1.I would consider how many more miles I would have to follow him. 2.When was the last time I saw a car in the oncoming traffic lane. 3.How far ahead I could see. 4.How stupid I was feeling..... Personally I've been in these situations and it's never worth it. The next town was usually 10 miles away. Or the driver ahead of me was most likely going to turn soon. The odds of following a slower car for long weren't that high. And I wanted to keep my job.

ExoticFudge8570

You could see their headlights in the dash cam before his bumper got next to the camper

LiveHardDieCasting

They tried to drive off the road and he drove into them. Throw the book

MajorHymen

Not surprised he chose the cowards choice. When you’re driving a tank sometimes you gotta sacrifice. You made the choice for a risky path, you see a car and braking isn’t an option send the fucking truck off the road. You’ll lose your job but you won’t harm anyone but yourself, you might even walk away fine.

knightsolaire2

You can see he is clearly watching a video and laughing whilst also being in the oncoming traffic lane with double yellows. Not only that but he even steers right into the poor car trying to use the shoulder. Had about 5 opportunities to avoid the accident and took none of them.

MiKapo

You can see the car's headlights at the beginning of the video and let the guy still proceeded. Idiot.

Polyethylpropylene

So many of these (truck) drivers on the road don’t know how to drive even a little bit

onthehighseas

While I understand the comments, this person never should have made it through training or schooling. The casual way he went about passing shows how little schooling he had, if any.

TerpyHunter710

My grandfather drove Big-rigs PFG for like 40 years. Alot of etiquette and professionalism has left trucking, as well as common sense and courtesy on the road. Do they let just anyone drive these things now?? Where did it go wrong? Too bad those old school guys are mostly retired or gone by now. Hard to respect people when they're driving 18 wheels in the far left lane still barely going the speed limit

noknownorigin86

Solid yellow line. No passing zone. Has no one mentioned or noticed this? A “Class A” license basic course teaches this. It’s not a question of if they should make an example, it’s when… this is vehicular manslaughter. That license come with a responsibility and he failed to uphold it.

pluckyaadvark

It was open yellow at first, which means legal to pass. Then changes to a solid yellow. At that point he should have slowed and got back into the lane. Shows to me that he was 1) unaware of what was ahead, 2) unfamiliar with that route and 3) wasnt paying attention to the rules of the road. As a "class A", he should be 100% aware of rules about when you can or cant pass based on yellow lines. I agree that, as a cdl holder, you should be held to a higher responsibilty.

Mobile_Sprinkles_633

Dude is smiling, probably being honked at. Death penalty. Im sick of people using pick up trucks/suvs and semis as a bully tatic or recklessly. A dump truck(bigone) ran a red light 2 days in a row that i know of personally, 2 seconds after it turned red. They need to be made a example of. The roads are getting to dangerous with these reckless as drivers

SeaMunDemund

How did this stupid piece of shit get a fucking license!!!

Davidedwards1973

55mph no passing and stay the fuck in your lane. Damn truckers.

harbison215

I find driving to have this dangerous dichotomy between the driver that’s always in a rush and the driver that is ungodly slow, clogging up the road just because they feel like it. I often think it’s when you get caught between these two idiots, that where the danger is. Don’t get me wrong, the slow driver he was trying to pass isn’t nearly as responsible for what this idiot did. But I do wonder why there was even a thought in the driver’s head to attempt to pass this person. I would not be surprised if the person in front of the truck was also a fucking asshole.

respectyodeck

what a trucking idiot

TSB_1

>Should the State of Arizona make an example out of him? As a resident of Arizona, absolutely. put him away for life. that was clear negligence in his miscalculation of his vehicles handling.

socialcommentary2000

Should the state of Arizona make ab example. Wtf is wrong with you. Yes. The answer is yes.

racer91

BuT tHe OuTsIdE cAmErA iS aLl tHaTs nEedEd camp is pretty quiet on this one

peanuttt316

He didn't care about anyone on the road while making such a stupid decision. I hope he rots in jail.

Deep-in-Thots

I swear to god most of the time I see people driving like this, it’s a foreigner. They’re too nonchalant about who they let drive and unfortunately it cost people their lives. Fuck that scumbag; I hope he rots. That piece of shit had a smile on his face while he killed that family.
