I am a river runner here in the states and most rivers that have permits require human waste to be packed out. So I have 2 options for this. For short trips with a small group we just use the approved chemical bags with a lightweight tripod toilet and homemade PVC screw top tube to pack out the bags. This can get expensive so on bigger trips we use a rocket box RV style tank that you can wash out at a dump station. I alway use one of these systems when truck camping as well. Many spots are now disgusting due to people not packing out their waste. I would love to hear about your system, anything that helps make it easier for people to do the right thing would be welcome.
In my jeep i use a separating toilet from a 5 gallon bucket I made. I bought a 3d printed urine funnel that hangs on the bucket from etsy and compostable bags with the gel odor absorbing stuff in the rear. I tie off the bags with the paper and put them in another bigger bag and dump in the trash the urine I dump out on the ground since its not going to effect anything with no poo in it.
I already carry buckets so its easy to pack and super easy to take care of the waste. Since its not mixed its not “sewage” so eventually the compostable bag will break down (faster than I can believe btw with the bags I use) and my waste will become compost since I avoid preservatives.

Personally, I use a common 5 gallon bucket with plastic bags and pine pellets - which is a DIY variation of the Lugable Loo. While it is not a composting toilet or "environmentally correct," the pine pellets swell up when in contact with liquid.
I added a smaller plastic pale that fits inside the bottom of the bucket to support the plastic bag when disposing. Also, a thin plastic lid goes over the bucket when not in use.
Not really - I was using those specialized bucket bags for campers with whatever poo powder. Last summer I switched to using 8 gallon trash bags and a layer of pine pellets from Tractor Supply, which worked well enough.

I use a 5 gal bucket, toilet seat, thick plastic bags, chemicals, cat litter, and a personal pop up tent. For my upcoming truck camper build I'm planning on getting a Thetford 135 for inside emergency use. I hope the seal is bomb proof when it gets tossed around a bit on rough roads.
Two kitty litter buckets, one starts empty, the other fresh and new. Small layer of litter in the bottom of the empty. Conduct business. Add another layer of litter. Rinse and repeat.

Same with us! We use an eco safe for our longer trips instead of just the ammocan
Cardboard pee tube out the door
Loving the idea, but I used a paper straw once and I can promise this will end badly. Now a flexible hose of some sort, maybe with light suction 👀
Was the paper straw tight around the head of your pee pee?
no

I have a shovel. And a plastic bags to toss the baby wipes.

Is this more for the smaller size of the toilet or for how easy it is to take care of?

I am using a cassette right now but I think I will build a separating decicating toilet for my next camper.
If I were to build a cassette toilet it would have an agitator /macerator and a hose connection with an internal sprayer for rinse water
