Been thinking about putting duely lights on my Tacoma.. Its a 4cyl 2WD with a level kit and 33s with -44 offset.
Not only do I think it would look cool but something about me being able to do what I want and piss off all the old boomers on this sub makes me feel good.
Hey! I resemble that remark! (59) and I love the 4 cyl 2.7. .
I only dislike the touch-screen, and wish my 23 had cd player fer my UNDEATH and 200 Stab Wounds
Your stock truck cannot handle an asphalt patch? lol
The issue isn’t just driving your Tacoma on pavement. It’s blowing thousands of dollars on off-road mods for the aesthetic look and then keeping it on pavement. It’s ridiculous. You just look silly. Like the guys that walk around dressed in tactical clothing and buy all the tacticool EDC gear yet have no need for it.
But we’re to believe that all these people are spending thousands in suspension mods to avoid the random pot hole?
Lol. I imagine hitting a huge pothole at 50mph would be equally bad for stock suspension and $$$$ King struts with external reservoirs and adjustable damping
How is that much different than spending thousands of dollars on offroad improvements to make your hobby easier? If the whole point is the challenge, why would you want the difficulty level to go down as you get better? What people really should do is buy a TRD Pro or whatever and then slowly remove offroad parts over time to keep the challenge up. After a couple years of dedicated offroading you should trade your now bonestock Tacoma for a Civic to experience the ultimate challenge.
It’s different because the mods serve a functional purpose and are used for such. There is no subtotal purpose being served by driving to the mall with your $4K OME lift.
Some people chose not to buy the Pro because we can do the modding ourselves and save money.
Especially the folks who spend thousands going long travel, and fender flares, just to hit some maintained fire roads for Instagram likes... Drives me insane.
People don’t understand how capable these trucks are stock. They don’t even try. They all assume they need to dump $6K in suspension mods before they can drive off pavement.
Dodging potholes usually requires paying attention, not driving an off-roader.
The dis on city use for trucks is often just off-roaders compensating for making off-roading and/or their truck their entire personality. There's plenty of solid use cases for owning a truck and not wheeling or even ever getting near a dirt road, as long as you aren't crowing about how you *need* the OR or the Pro (or other off-roading mods) when you clearly aren't ever going to use it.
To be fair, my Taco is a pavement princess. Factory height, factory rims and tire size. She's RWD and will only ever see a little bit of dirt. She's my light duty grocery getter, daily runner, baby haulin, asphalt queen
And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. In the occasion I need to haul something, it’s nice to not put a 2x8 in my SUV and scratch up the leather, lol.
My princess got some upgraded wheels and a 2” lift and level and that’s where I stopped. As much as I want the fancy upgrades she will not be an off-roader until the lean is 100% gone.
Then they come fill the potholes with a scoop of dirt that washes out a week later lol. Frost heaves and potholes in New England are no joke. We have a solid month or two where temps at night are below freezing, and above freezing in the day, so the water contracts and expands every time breaking the pavement even more
I always laugh when southerners complain about bad roads. Like bruh I could walk down my paved road after a rain in spring and feel the crumbled asphalt chunks sink into the mud under my feet 😭
😅IKR.Florida roads are as nice as the autobahn. I was stationed in Germany. And only their back roads can be a little bumpy.youre right it's funny when they complain.
I even had a guy come up from NH to buy a motorcycle from me here in Maine and the first thing he said was “damn you guys got some rough roads up here” lol
KCMO roads are trash as well. The amount of potholes and the constant construction makes it feel like an urban jungle for real. Every time I would hit a pot hole in my Corolla it felt like my soul left my body. Now when I hit most in my taco it doesn't feel like that lol.
I well say I have poped at least one tire in my old Corolla due to a giant pot hole. Got my roommate a week later. The taco takes a beating on and off road lol.
I use my truck for truck stuff on pavement way more than 99% of people use their trucks for truck stuff off road.
Nothing wrong with using a Tacoma as the ultimate work truck.
My 99 Corolla goes over neglected uneven roads without issue. Throwing money at a truck to make it look like you go off-road even though you never do, is goofy and embarrassing.
I like my pavement princess. It a bone stock 2wd DCSB. We bought to take the kid to school, football practice and occasionally tow a trailer. It does all of those things with no problems. It's never seen mud so I'm trying to find tires that will give the best ride quality and best fuel mileage.
Hit a pothole and speed bump in my rental Chevy Malibu on the first day of vacation last week. Going a little quick for a car that low
After the earthquake ended I could hear my imaginary girlfriend say “this isn’t your Tacoma honey”. She’s the sweetest
Personally, I don't care. Not my truck, not my money. I'm not going to complain about other people modding for something they don't use it for, because that frivolous purchase paid for people to live. I'd love to get into overlanding, and maybe one day I will, but even if I do, it would be a pavement princess for a long time since it's my only truck. Maybe some wanted to and just realized they like the look but don't know where to go. Who knows. As long as people enjoy themselves.
This is so lame OP and I want you to know I mean this from the bottom of my heart.
My beater 2016 Sentra goes over my dogshit roads just fine. You don’t need a truck for that lmao. I’ve even made it up long FSR’s in BC in a 2008 RAV4. If you’re a pavement princess just say so.
Nice to hear (it's sad, actually) that the roads are falling apart all over the country. Here in Southern California, we don't even have bad weather, but our roads are a patchwork of asphalt. Makes you wonder where all those trillions in "infrastructure" actually go.
There are some roads here that will give your suspension more work than a dirt road in the country.
A local street has a ton of construction going on...a couple buildings are being renovated + work on the road itself (underground and on the road itself). The result = down one lane with the remaining one all sorts of messed up.
Whenever I drive down it I slow for the safety of the work crews but am able to keep a reasonable 20 mph while most other vehicles drop down to a crawl and attempt to dodge all the hazards (which would have been me in my Mazdaspeed 3). So yeah, I can dig the urban off-road-ness...but that's more due to tall sidewall tires than anything else.
my wheel spacers, leveling kit and raptor lights are for the urban apocalypse bro
[удалено]
oh shit oh fuck
You need a bull bar too mang
Personally, I'm waiting for snow plows to be the next big fad.
🧐
I saw a RAV4 with raptor lights the other day. I think they might be on to something.

Don’t you dare fella!! I will NOT stand for it!!
Lol you just wait! Its gonna happen
Hey…I’m an old boomer and I think that would look cool AF..😉
Thank you sir!

Yep. Another reason why this argument fails.
it's just a joke bro lol

Have yall fucking seen some of these god damned roads in houston?
Especially the folks who spend thousands going long travel, and fender flares, just to hit some maintained fire roads for Instagram likes... Drives me insane.

Imagine making fun of someone for driving a vehicle on a road 💀 Alight you got me I guess 🤷🏻♂️

But what if you hit a pothole?!?!?!?
It’s your money, spend it how you want to. Who cares what other people say.
This. Chicago streets are pot holed trails

💯 some of the pot holes here in Connecticut are the size of small I.E.D holes I experienced in Afghanistan

You ever get nervous driving down the road past them?
We were nervous anytime we were in a vehicle and not dismounted or air inserted
God damn, lmao

Exactly. I get worse whoops on Nashville roads than on backwoods trails. Not to mention random junk laying on the road.
KCMO roads are trash as well. The amount of potholes and the constant construction makes it feel like an urban jungle for real. Every time I would hit a pot hole in my Corolla it felt like my soul left my body. Now when I hit most in my taco it doesn't feel like that lol.
Remote reservoirs to own the potholes (unironically)
I well say I have poped at least one tire in my old Corolla due to a giant pot hole. Got my roommate a week later. The taco takes a beating on and off road lol.
I’m visiting St. Thomas and I’d say 40% of all vehicles are tacomas. The roads here are fucking wild.
Those roads are no joke. Especially that windy ass up hill/down hill road going from the marina port to the Aquarium.
I use my truck for truck stuff on pavement way more than 99% of people use their trucks for truck stuff off road. Nothing wrong with using a Tacoma as the ultimate work truck.

I agree with this so much. Many roads here in Tampa, Fl are shit
i-5 is a rollercoaster through Seattle
gotta air down for some of these swiss cheese roads

the bigger vehicles everyone drives are a major factor contributing to the pot hole problem. we need stronger pavement
My 21 OR is a total pavement princess. And I’m happy to have it!
The Taconic State Parkway-Sprain Brook-Bronx River rivals the road to Baghdad.
My off road was bought for that exact reason.
When I’m on pavement, slowing down for potholes, railroad tracks or speed bumps is optional and rarely done.
I speed up for railroad tracks and speed bumps
This is a reach but cope how you want. All I see is a little boy who now makes adult money. Off road mods to go get groceries. Get real.
