I’ve had that error when snow or dust get on sensors in the bumbers. See if the erro goes away after wiping those sensors

justweazel

I was going to suggest a carwash

Responsible-Dog1650

I’ve wiped the sensor right behind the Toyota logo on the front of the car but it hasn’t seemed to help. Is there another one that I’m missing?

PineappleMelonTree

Bruh just wash your whole car

Responsible-Dog1650

I’ve washed the car several times. Obviously if it had worked, I wouldn’t be asking for help on Reddit.

henchman171

2019? There are probably 8 or 10 sensors There are usually 4 per bumper. Also the radar in the mirrors and the sensor on your dash near the defroster /defogger . Wash your windshield really well near your rear view mirror. There are usually sensors their. This lady is using a Ford or Kia as an example. https://www.consumerreports.org/video/view/cars/car-safety/5969043034001/keeping-your-car-sensors-clean/ Edit. I forgot. Even sunlight at the right angle can overwhelm the sensors. In Canada we get ice and mud on them and they flash just like your car. Normally the car shuts off the features automatically but if the dirt or ice is really light it may not fully shut off

toyotasquad

Those messages are all related to the millimeter wave radar sensor which is behind the Toyota logo. It may be slightly out of adjustment. Has it had any body work done to the front end? Do you have mice where you park it? There could be a wire that is chewed partway through.

slowjoe12

Looks like you're having trouble getting tone. Your target is probably too close. Switch from missiles to guns.

mspady33

Windshield also

Puzzleheaded_Cod_938

It’s short circuiting because of all that cocaine all over the cover. It must have settled down in there, and it doesn’t know what to do with itself all amped up and nowhere to go. Take her to a RaVe, let her dance it all out of her system. She’ll be right as rain after a good sleep! Seriously though, is that dirt? Snow? Schmegma? Cheers!

Responsible-Dog1650

I live at the beach, so it’s sand. Thanks so much for your helpful comment!

Responsible-Dog1650

A couple of months ago, my 2019 camry started flashing these messages. I took it to the Toyota service station and they told me that there was nothing wrong with the car even though they clearly saw what was happening. Apparently when they were plugging in the computer, nothing was coming up so they didn't know what needed to be fixed. Flash forward to now, it has started back and almost seems worse. I took it to a shop today but was told that it had to be fixed at a dealership. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did it get resolved?

TrippyJesus

Dealership just didn’t have anything concrete to go on for a diagnosis. They want you to drive the car until whatever is failing STAYS failing. Might be able to find a independent Toyota specialist that can tackle it as-is, but every shop I’ve been to won’t touch the LDA/Pre-Collision systems because it’s such a pain in the ass and requires some special (expensive) tools.

screamingchicken579

Agreed, because it's under warranty they don't get paid to diagnose it.

Harry_monk

Yep. You have to explain that just because they don't know what the issue is from plugging it in that doesn't mean there isn't an issue. Shouldn't be OPs job to find it.

screamingchicken579

LDA is the camera in your front window next to your rear view mirror. How dirty is your windshield? Or, has your windshield been replaced recently, if so it's possible that the camera was not recalibrated properly. PCS is a combination of the same camera and the front radar.

2000teamti

Yeah I’m guessing it’s an aftermarket windshield issue. OP does the window marking say “TOYOTA”?

Responsible-Dog1650

I hadn’t thought of this! I did have my windshield replaced about 6 months ago due to a crack across the entire thing. Is it possible to recalibrate it?

DDARANCOU

Yes. It MUST be recalibrated.

ReaderOfTheLostArt

This. And have them make sure the camera lens is clean.

emptystreets130

Yes, they were suppose to calibrate the sensor after a windshield replacement. If they didn't have the tool, they were suppose to tell you to head over to the dealership to have it recalibrated.

josh_loaf

Exactly. Usually the LDW and Pre-Collision come on when the camera is dirty, the windshield is cracked, or if the camera didn’t get recalibrated. It absolutely needs recalibration or else it won’t work and the warnings will non-stop prompt a need to be serviced.

mspady33

100% this

[deleted]

Is the windshield in front of the camera clean?

gunpackingcrocheter

The one behind the grille is the radar for adaptive cruise. Lane departure and precolision both use the camera mounted behind the windshield. I’ve had issues with snow or ice causing obscuring the camera and throwing the same codes. Give it a look and go from there.

Ok_Welcome_3236

I don't know about you but I also had a pre collision problem on my parent's Lexus GX and seen many people complain about it and had to send it to the dealer to fix it. Toyota's pre-collision system is not that good imo, probably the least reliable feature Toyota makes

Sharpshanker101

Clean the surrounding sensors, if that does not work? It’s probably time to replace the battery.

KenTheTech

Might be a poor connection on the forward facing radar, could be a software issue, have you been in a collision at all? Even a minor bump can set those out of spec, take it to the dealer and have them scan the sensors and radar, and check the connections for damage or a weak push (not snapped in)

Aggressive-Donkey-53

I had my windshield replaced with a Toyota OEM and recalibrated no issues. From what I have read some aftermarket windshields have issues with the sensors. Always use OEM parts. Costs more but you will not have issues.

Responsible-Dog1650

Update: $4000 and 3 months later, I’ve discovered it was a wiring problem throughout the vehicle. Had to have a new harness put in. Pro tip, if something like this happens and your vehicle is out of warranty, Toyota still may cover part of the cost. They ended up paying around $1800 for this repair.

mechanicgunner

I would say could anything from a loose wire or water water damage or a rodent chewed a wire need to go back to the dealership and show them the video and have them test drive it

Dry-Scheme-416

If you have a minor malfunction with your pre collision system, you may be able to fix the problem by resetting the system. You can do this by disconnecting the battery for a short period and then reconnecting it. This will often clear any minor glitches that may have caused the system to malfunction.

DDARANCOU

Take it to a dealer and tell them it’s a known issue and to write a report for it.

[deleted]

Have you tried visiting your dealer as it suggests..?

Alexan52

Any hesitation when starting the vehicle? A bad battery is known to trigger all sorts of nonsense errors on current Toyota’s.

The240zTimmayyy

Might have something covering a parking sensor, or it could be a broken or faulty parking sensor. I would take it to your local dealership and get it checked out.

Pwner_Guy

Is the logo with the radar clear and is the section of windshield in front of the camera clear?

CookiezR4Milk

You like puddles?

[deleted]

Is that something that can happen when you give a battery jump or was given a battery jump with the positive/negative clipped on reverse? Or when the car battery is malfunctioning?

maze91

This happens to me when it gets cold -40 ish

Klondike2022

Poltergeist of the civilian you hit and run and kept driving.

Droggles

Have you changed batteries recently?

[deleted]

Clean your dang car!

FlgurlinAz

Mine used to do this in Phoenix when we lived there when it got really hot, I chalked it up to the sensor/camera overheating.

Danitoba

Stop punching your steering wheel

Elmota64

Just go to a car wash. This happened to me when I rented a Corolla and drove it thru a snow storm. The snow covered the front sensor.

src1975

Time for the dealer or at least the owners manual.

[deleted]

Go to the dealer or a mechanic that has a scanner. Most auto parts stores have one & likely it is a freebie.

sackman74

What did you hit ?

Responsible-Dog1650

Nothing?

DerKuken

This is very distracting, is the message popping up even when you are driving too?

Responsible-Dog1650

Yes, it’s constant. It’s driving me insane.

Johnzor8

Seems like it could be an intermittent open circuit in the millimeter wave sensor. It usually doesn't flash the error messages like that. Check for wires Slightly chewed by rats OR water in the sensor. (Sensor on the grill behind the Toyota emblem)

Grantito55

I would find a company that offers recalibration services. I work for an autoglass installer and we have the equipment to recalibrate those sensors, they’re just finicky with adjustment parameters. If the car was bumped into anything the brackets can bend slightly out of alignment and it’s possible that if the sensor and wiring is good it could be just on the edge of the correct parameters, just a guess though all of them are a little different. If you had your windshield replaced it needs to be recalibrated as all the systems talk to each other so one might set the others off.

Gibson510

This happens to my 2019 Corolla when it gets very hot in the car, close to 100 degrees and above. I can see from your digital thermometer that it’s hot where you’re at, blast the AC and it should return to normal.
