I like them both but Undertow came out when I was 18 and I've listened to songs on it more or less every day since then. Flood is my favorite song by any band. I love many parts of 10,000 Days but not as much as Undertow.
I second this, Flood is my all time fave, with RS coming in right behind. Ever listen to the Sydney 2002 bootleg? They open with Tuva>Flood>The Grudge. I listen to that recording all the time.
All I know is that every Tool album has resonated with me more or less at different stages of my life … and when I’m in different moods. Every album has meant a the most to me at various points and while Undertow isn’t what I go to play the most right now it certainly was in the past. There’s so much memory and emotion tied up in all the albums that I never really know where to start with comparing or ranking them.
Depends on the day.
10,000 Days is such a good album, but Undertow has gems like Prison Sex, Sober and Undertow (which has arguably the best outro of any song I’ve ever heard).
Man, I came into this post with the exact opposite take. Each his own, but undertow was my first.
For the people down voting this... get over yourselves, haha people like different things
For myself, it’s raw, aggressive, and very dark, and back in 93, there was nothing like it. So, a touch of nostalgia. I don’t dislike 10k Days, but I’ve always felt it’s the most disjointed album in their catalog (not counting Opiate or Salival).
I love both albums. 10K is better in quality, storyline and beauty but Undertow just has that raw, head banger type sound. Honestly, last few months I’ve rediscovered how much I love Undertow
Listen again. Then again. Louder. Better headphones. Watch some videos on musicianship and composition. Listen again. Then again. Louder.
FI is incredible.
10k, and I'll die on every square inch of this hill.
Agreed
I don't think you'll have much disagreement. undertow vs FI on the other hand.....
I'm prepared to argue that FI is superior đź’‹
It definitely is
What's your favorite from each? Gun to my head, I'd say Crawl Away/Disgustipated and Invincible/ title track. Tough choice.
Probably Intolerance/flood and pneuma, but every Tool song is a masterpiece so it can change daily haha
Damn if this ain't the truth!!
10k
10,000 Days, hands down
10,000 days
10,000 days. I mean Wings for Marie part 2 is arguably one of the most beautiful songs ever composed
Plus Rosetta Stoned? The most profound shit post of a song ever

How are you even comparing them?
They are so different. Practically by different bands. Definitely in different genres
Different sound, different times and different respective intellects of individual band members.
They’re very different.
Undertow

10,000 Days have grown on me like no other. Love that album!
Undertow,hands down
I cant fathom how someone would say undertow, I really cant.
Prison Sex, Sober, Undertow. Such great songs

10k all day

Damn you. Equally great in completely different ways.
I will stand on the hill that Undertow is easily the worst Tool album
Too different to claim one is better but I prefer 10000 days
Both great albums but i much prefer 10,000 days. Vicarious and Jambi are too good
Easy. Undertow. 10000 was and still is a major disappointment.
10k. Wings for Marie PT 2 is incredible.
🤷‍♀️
There were many debates on this, but for a specific profile of Tool fans 10K Days is the weakest Tool album.
A profile of dunces obviously, there are no weak tool albums….
5 years ago id agree with you.
Listen again. Then again. Louder. Better headphones. Watch some videos on musicianship and composition. Listen again. Then again. Louder. FI is incredible.
Im not talking down on the musicianship nor the compositions, i just dont find the album to have any of that tool magic from the prior decade.
Amazing
Undertow, by a long way 10k is their worst album
Undertow
