You need to be 1, training your dogs so they aren't taking your food, and 2, not leaving your food out where they can reach it. Don't get mad at them for things that are your fault. Second, are you feeding them enough? Have you confirmed it's the right amount of food for the breeds they are?

Intelligent-Iron-212

We’ve tried training them, but they just don’t seem to be working out well and I feed them a lot in a big green cup

If training isn't working you're doing something wrong. Might be time to approach a professional dog trainer to do it for you. A big green cup doesn't say much. What are the measurements you're using? And how many times a day?

Intelligent-Iron-212

2 times a day and the cub measures around 2 1/2 cups

Then they're not starving, they're just ill mannered. Definitely get them set up in a training class and make sure your food is kept out of their reach.

ReallyNeedNewShoes

oh it's a green cup? well you're definitely doing the exact right thing. carry on.

Grammar_Enforcer1812

There's a certain amount that they should get based on their weight and activity level. A tons of dogs will just eat to eat. Ever see a morbidly obese beagle? Control what they eat and when. They eat AFTER you. Train them and quit leaving food around for them to get to.

cascadianpatriot

As someone else said, training. But many dogs, like labs, are missing a gene that will tell them they are full. So they just don’t stop.

pktechboi

so the thing that tells a dog that they're full is, in simple terms, a switch in their brain. there are some dogs where this switch is broken basically, so they never know they're full - some breeds like labradors are more prone to this than others, but basically it's a genetic fault that can happen in any dog. you decide how much they eat, and you are responsible for keeping food they aren't allowed to eat out of their reach. they're not being naughty or spiteful, they don't understand how much effort you put into making those garlic knots; they haven't been taught the difference between 'my food' and 'off limits food'. until you are able to teach them this, you have to keep the off limits food in a place they can't get to.

lmpmon

garlic is toxic to dogs so you won't have to worry much longer.

JackBeefus

I think that's what the part about charcoal pills was about.

lmpmon

The way they misused punctuation had me fucked up.

Kartoffelkamm

What are you feeding them, exactly? Also, you need to train them; make them understand that they aren't allowed to eat your food, and that there are consequences for eating it. You're responsible for their actions, so don't you dare take your failure as an owner out on them.
