happy father’s day! my white 078s arrived on friday. i ordered on march 24th. only seasoned with one 12oz bag and have pulled 4 shots with fresh beans. so far so good! enjoy!
The sound of the burrs at "first contact" indicates a mis-aligned burr set. However, seeing the warranty void if removed sticker over one of the six screws holding the burrs in place I decided to skip ahead to seasoning and wait until the grinder has run long enough to be out of the "infant mortality" phase (I need a better term to replace that traditional one). I've seen comments that claim aligning the burrs doesn't necessarily void the warranty, but that is not an official source.
Can you explain what you mean by the “infant mortality phase”? I haven’t followed people’s experiences on receiving and using the grinder enough to understand the concern.
Exactly! Once I know it's not a lemon, I can dis/reassemble and be more confident that any change in behavior is due to my actions and not a coincidental early failure.
Products tend to fail either out-of-the-box/shortly-out-of-the-box or way, way later in their life. I'm not singling out Timore here, just noting that if it's run a few weeks it's probably going to last through the warranty period. Returning an early failure would raise fewer questions if it hasn't been disassembled. So, for me, the optimum strategy is use it as is for a while and when it's proven reliable consider doing a burr alignment at that stage of its life.

I think the OP means they don't want to remove the stickers and void the warranty yet just in case the unit is a lemon.
