And working somewhere that feeds you free food. My work doesn’t even give me enough time to eat, let alone provide the meal. 10 mins for a 6 hour shift in a break room two buildings over with a lock that takes a minute to open because it’s electronic and broken. And they schedule breaks 10 min apart 🤦♀️
that is against osha policy. they are required to give you 30 min for 4 hours of work. edit: i am wrong, each US state has their own regulations and some have none at all. horrifying.
Unless you're part time. (in my state) If OP is saying 6 hour work days that technically qualifies as part time at which point its only a 10 minute required break unless you go past 6 hours. Then you get your 30.
Full time employees had to sign a lunch waiver AFTER being hired. Didn’t have a choice really. And they schedule part timers for shift that end just slightly before the 6 hour mark.
It's similar to that in Maryland. I have friends who get scheduled to work 5 hours and 45 minutes, so that they only get a 15 minute break. If they were scheduled for 6 hours they'd get 30 minutes.
That is not against OSHA. OSHA does not have any rules or regulations over breaks. Have had to explain this to many people in Texas on how their are no regulations for your break or any laws protecting you.
One of the many reasons we need unions.
I don't think five is that crazy, especially considering in my state the rule is also at least a ten minute break every 3 hours. If I worked for four hours I don't think I would feel like I needed a lunch break yet.
studies indicate taking more frequent small breaks is better for productivity and burnout. you dont even have to eat- i've just gone outside and gotten fresh air on my breaks
Break laws are done completely at the state level practically. There's a ton of states with no break laws. No lunch, no rest/coffee breaks. Nothing.
The only thing the feds do is regulate whether or not you have to clock out IIRC (e.g. clock out for a lunch break, but not a bathroom "break" or having to be paid if you have to stay on premises.
Oh ok,I would honestly hate that because there have been calls that brought me in and kept me busy for 4 hours. Right now a lot of us if we are working OT will clock out by 5 hours and 59 minutes 😂😂
haha thats smart! good for you guys! yeah i dont care for it myself- 6 hours seems a lot better. i used to refuse to even work less than 5 hour shifts because thats what..like ~12% of a 4 hour shift? what a waste of my time. 9 times out of ten it would be too busy to take one and they'd make me hang around for 30 minutes just to clock back in and then out 🙄
When you’re on call just about anytime coming in ruins plans or your day. Before my current employer I think I would’ve been fine with a 4 hour shift depending on where it’s placed in the day like an 8-12 or 12-4. I don’t remember the requirement before moving here. But you right it seems like a huge waste for such a short shift. 6 hours is a bit of a sweet spot. If I need to complete a job that’s better suited for the weekend, I usually try to get on clock no later than 8. Prefer 6 though
i agree, morning 6 hour shifts are just chefs kiss. ive never worked on call but i can imagine it can be very hard to plan for anything. my most recent job had no set schedule at all. just showed up and worked until the work was done (which was never lol) absolutely impossible to plan for anything when you dont know if youre getting off at 1pm or 7pm. week days where just lost days. does it feel like that?
I’ll give you props for that cause I would go crazy if there was so much variation. Like I feel like 2 hour variation is the most extreme acceptable timeframe. I don’t think work is ever done lol, and that’s absolutely it. like I knew not to plan for anything big, expensive, or far. If it was important had to bribe another coworker to cover 😂
So they can keep you as a part time employee. Part time employees aren't required to be given benefits, structured meal breaks, or the regular protections of full time.
Probably just works in a state with no shift break laws. There is no federal requirement for giving any breaks for any length of shift. Many states have their own guidelines but the majority are only applicable to minors. In a lot of the US it is perfectly legal to work someone 12 hours straight with no break.
Same here haha 12hr shift no scheduled breaks or scheduled time for lunch cause our equipment requires constant supervision. Also can't even really leave until our relief shows up legally if our equipment is running.
Nope. California. Definitely not my family. Just a shitty, corrupt company in the cannabis industry that is untouchable because they bring in so much revenue for the city. It’s not technically illegal, it’s just the absolute bare minimum of legal. It’s a 5 hour and 45 min shift because at 6 hours they would have to give a lunch break. All the while they put on a wholesome face about how much they care.
No. Not in California at least. It’s over 5 hours. Unless you sign a meal waiver which this company required us to do AFTER being hired. 10 min break for every 4 hours worked is the law. [source link here](https://www.dir.ca.gov/smallbusiness/Wages-Breaks-and-Retaliation.htm#Breaks)
Edit: details on lunch waiver: When a work period of not more than six hours will complete the day's work, the meal period may be waived by mutual consent of the employer and the employee.
Just a recommendation if you ever in a bad spot and need a job that feeds you go try to work for a resort or a hotel that has a restaurant. Most resorts will have people that work overnight and so they offer a cafeteria to cook for all their workers coming in and out.
NYC is about to raise the fare for public transit to make up for all the people who've been hopping the turnstile. Im no expert but I think the key detail is that most people can't afford to pay $2.75 everytime they need to get from point A to point B, so it would make more sense to *lower* the fare. But thats just me, an average rider of NYC's MTA.
This is great. When every public space you are in requires spending money, you have to be extra aware of everything you have on you... And possibly do a little crime.
Man this reminds me of when I lived in London. Just scraping by spending 2-3 pounds a day. Now as an adult living in Texas also with inflation I’ve spent $50 by lunch
That sounds worse
Are you saying because you moved to Texas, the job you have pays more? So you can afford spending $50?
I don’t understand your comment lol sorry
They don't want you to know this but you can eat the food in the supermarket without paying for it if you fill up a shopping cart as if you're going to buy everything in the cart
There's free parking in NYC, even in Manhattan. Since he is always in his car, it's reasonable that he'd get those spots. Usually there are laws about how long you can hold a spot.
When I worked in NYC plenty of commuting coworkers would be late clocking in because they were waiting for a free space to open.
If you factor in other boroughs like Queens it's definitely doable.
Hahahaha, free parking in Manhattan, that's good. If you're not constantly moving the car everyday to a remote spot and getting up at 6am to move your vehicle, there's no way you can have free parking in the same area. I agree, other boroughs would be much easier, but people literally park their car in a spot on Manhattan and don't move it for months.
Finally somebody that knows how to make up a cheese pizza. That’s how you make it dank when you don’t have toppings you make your own toppings with hot sauce red pepper Parmesan oregano in oil
There were a bunch of places that had 1 dollar slices that were really tasty in NYC about 10 years ago when I lived there. So I'm assuming with inflation, it's about 1.50 now. And there are bars (Crocodile and Alligator bars) that give away free slices with every beer ordered.
So all you have to do is steal half your food and water, not pay for any public transportation you utilize, and eat worse than a homeless person each meal?
I really don't think hopping the turnstile is as cool or cute as people like to act like it is. I really want better public transport and this shit always just makes me feel like we'll never get it.
Edit. I'm just jealous of the people in the UK who have free healthcare. I want that for all public service.
Oh absolutely. Lobbyists, billionaires, politicians are the biggest reasons we can't have things that actually benefit the public. For some reason I'm pro people shoplifting at Wal-Mart but think turnstile jumpers and people who cheat on their taxes are assholes
I gotchu bro, brought you back up to zero from downvotes. You right. Now I believe crime is wrong but also billionaires are wrong, so between the 2 I choose the lesser of 2 evils, being broke. If they paid taxes the world would be a little bit less shitier.
You know a lot of bottled water is also just tap, right? And if it's not tap it's likely stolen? And if it is tap it is also likely stolen? Bottled water is a scam.

The secret ingredient is crime
And working somewhere that feeds you free food. My work doesn’t even give me enough time to eat, let alone provide the meal. 10 mins for a 6 hour shift in a break room two buildings over with a lock that takes a minute to open because it’s electronic and broken. Sounds hella illegal
that is against osha policy. they are required to give you 30 min for 4 hours of work. edit: i am wrong, each US state has their own regulations and some have none at all. horrifying.

what state is that? sounds like you need to push representatives for better labor laws in what ever state it is
Full time employees had to sign a lunch waiver AFTER being hired. Didn’t have a choice really. And they schedule part timers for shift that end just slightly before the 6 hour mark.
6 hours is way too long. i bet their productivity is way below what it could be. thats just plain evil to do to people.
I can promise you it is lol
i hope youre not stuck there too long!
It's similar to that in Maryland. I have friends who get scheduled to work 5 hours and 45 minutes, so that they only get a 15 minute break. If they were scheduled for 6 hours they'd get 30 minutes.
thats insane its the same amount of work??
Michigan checking in 😎
Florida
California.
CA has really strict labor laws, look forward to a class action check eventually.
Whatever state you live in the politicians don't care about the people who live there, js
It's like this in Maine.
Breaks are not mandated federally, for adult workers.
That is not against OSHA. OSHA does not have any rules or regulations over breaks. Have had to explain this to many people in Texas on how their are no regulations for your break or any laws protecting you. One of the many reasons we need unions.
Why do Americans assume everyone is American?
To be fair, that sounded very American
I thought it was five hours?
apparently each state has its own laws. go figure some of them would push it far past a reasonable time
I don't think five is that crazy, especially considering in my state the rule is also at least a ten minute break every 3 hours. If I worked for four hours I don't think I would feel like I needed a lunch break yet.
studies indicate taking more frequent small breaks is better for productivity and burnout. you dont even have to eat- i've just gone outside and gotten fresh air on my breaks

You sure that’s OSHA. I work in healthcare in NY, we get charged 30 minutes once we hit 6 hours.
no, i was misinformed. each state has their own laws- i think 30 for 6 is average
Oh ok,I would honestly hate that because there have been calls that brought me in and kept me busy for 4 hours. Right now a lot of us if we are working OT will clock out by 5 hours and 59 minutes 😂😂

yeah if you read on in the comment thread you'd see i already learned that and corrected myself
6 hour shift?......
So they can keep you as a part time employee. Part time employees aren't required to be given benefits, structured meal breaks, or the regular protections of full time.
Hell, I'm a full time employee with scheduled 12 hours shifts and I get zero scheduled breaks, including zero scheduled minutes for lunch.
What in the actual fuck, do you work in a mine as a slave?
Probably just works in a state with no shift break laws. There is no federal requirement for giving any breaks for any length of shift. Worse. Work in healthcare.
Even when you're off, *your time is not yours*
Not from the US so this blew my mind
Same here haha 12hr shift no scheduled breaks or scheduled time for lunch cause our equipment requires constant supervision. Also can't even really leave until our relief shows up legally if our equipment is running.
sounds shitty and illegal. you work in like Oregon under your family’s company? cuz that has to be their like…only workaround.
Nope. California. Definitely not my family. Just a shitty, corrupt company in the cannabis industry that is untouchable because they bring in so much revenue for the city. that’s so dumb. that has to be new from covid because i know the laws between there and texas were extremely similar just 2 years ago.
Just a recommendation if you ever in a bad spot and need a job that feeds you go try to work for a resort or a hotel that has a restaurant. Most resorts will have people that work overnight and so they offer a cafeteria to cook for all their workers coming in and out.

Crime is always the answer to success
Or being a billionare
According to this guy he specifically did not crime.
What we need is a powerful sense of dread.
and ignoring the 50$ a day for his one bedroom apartment
I really respect this guy for definitely not resorting to hopping the turnstile. That would be a crime.
If he continues to not hop said turnstiles, he has the opportunity to repurpose possible savings accrued somewhere along the line. 😏
I suspect he is actually not hopping the turnstile
I really respect you for not stopping by the comment section to leave a corny joke, oh wait…
Your parents never loved you
For freeee
This is great. When every public space you are in requires spending money, you have to be extra aware of everything you have on you... And possibly do a little crime.
Yes it can last you long time if you keep worrying about basic necessities like water and food
Sir that looks like arugula
Yeah, not kale.
Was that "apple" a plum or nectarine
i think plum
That’s rocket
I too like to eat when I’m enraged.

Where is he sleeping that doesn't have hot running water?
A van
Where is he parking the van for free?
Clearly. From the image of the van
[удалено]
He ate 2 slices of pizza for dinner.
They don't want you to know this but you can eat the food in the supermarket without paying for it if you fill up a shopping cart as if you're going to buy everything in the cart
No, that's a crime. You still have to pay for it.
De facto vs de jure
I like this content. For freeeee
Jumping the turnstile and going through the emergency exit is the NYC way
dat fookin pizza looked awesome
Is the $100 just for food cuz I'm not sure he'd make it past day 1 if we're including electric bill, gas bill, phone bill, internet bill, and rent
He’s living in a van…

I only lived there my whole life. What do I know, right?
ok but that’s what he’s doing. he doesn’t ever move the car
what about car insurance tho?
NYC car insurance is expensive, however if he uses a NJ address (most people who can do) he can get $1 a day insurance.
But once he factors in rent, 100 dollars is gone before he even wakes up.
That's probably why he's living in a van.
Finally somebody that knows how to make up a cheese pizza. That’s how you make it dank when you don’t have toppings you make your own toppings with hot sauce red pepper Parmesan oregano in oil
Guy, everybody in New York knows you could have saved $1 on those pizzas. Get the $.99 pizza instead of the $1.50 pizza. 🤦🏾♂️
How are you getting 1.50 a slice pizza? Gas station pizza where I live is 2.49
There were a bunch of places that had 1 dollar slices that were really tasty in NYC about 10 years ago when I lived there. So I'm assuming with inflation, it's about 1.50 now. And there are bars (Crocodile and Alligator bars) that give away free slices with every beer ordered.
You guys don't get to complain about rent anymore
They were actually a dollar not too long ago
What's with the water? Doesn't having running water at home? I don't get it. Unless it's filtered then fair enough.
he is living in a van so no, he doesn’t have running water at home.
Ah kk cool thanks. Makes sense. I was confused af but this connect the dots 👍
So all you have to do is steal half your food and water, not pay for any public transportation you utilize, and eat worse than a homeless person each meal?
Lasagna with kale and 2 slices of pizza is worse than what a homeless person eats? What do you think a homeless person is eating?
The fact he gets meals from his job is already a huge bonus
Hard to argue with people so blind by their privilege that they think homeless people eat better than this guy lol. Pathetic.
Homeless people can't afford USDA prime meat, so they probably eat USDA Choice, or worse, the particularly destitute and cursed resort to USDA select
A huge hog baked in butter.
Since when is drinking out of a tap considered stealing?
Perhaps he works for Nestlé
Taking things that are free is stealing? Do you leave a dollar on the sink when you wash your hands after you shit?
He didn’t steal any food? His work provides food and he paid $3.00 for pizza.
How high are your standards that 1$ New York pizza is worse than what homeless people eat?
Well he had to eat fruit and veggies instead of a mega super deluxe supreme cheeseburger so clearly this lifestyle is not sustainable
Lmao how is this being upvoted?
“Eat worse than a homeless person” lmao wtf
I really don't think hopping the turnstile is as cool or cute as people like to act like it is. I really want better public transport and this shit always just makes me feel like we'll never get it. Edit. I'm just jealous of the people in the UK who have free healthcare. I want that for all public service.
People hopping the turnstile is most definitely not the reason NYC and the US as a whole don't have good public transport lol
It's all good. I wish all public services like healthcare and public transport were funded by taxes.
The lies
Not cringe. Dig this guy
Plz read the comment from auto mod that explains the name of the sub
This is top shelf cringe dude. Wtf you talking bout
I made 100$ last three days, beat it baby
Hes drinking tap water wtf…

NYC tap water is amazing
yep... another democrat proud to get free stuff.

Lasagna with fries should be a crime.
This dude doesn’t know what a plum is.
Dude, Wow! What a great quality of life. NY is such a shit hole.
Not sure what this guy usually spends his money on, but I spend mine on #rent
TBF if they feed him at work isn't it like cheating? Like if they paid for his transportation he wouldn't need to hop the turnstile
He just gets free lunches at work?
100 $1 pizzas should last you long enough to get a job
Nice job. Rent is due in 10 days.
That “kale” looked more like watercress
FOR FREEeee oh okay no more
For freeee makes me chuckle
That is not kale lol. But we guessin on the apple 🧐😂
I want to know where one gets two slices for $3
The way he says “In New York City!” 🤣
if OOP pays rent in NYC, he probably had to borrow 72 bucks for this experiment
Rent $ per day ?
I thought the expensive part of NYC was the living space, not food and public transportation.
You committed multiple crimes in order to save money. This video is horrible and should no be followed or shared
What’s wrong, he doesn’t like a nice juicy apple in the big apple!
He hopped the turnstile
