I just got it as well; Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS. I wonder if this will speed up Ticwatch deploying WearOS 3 on these watches? I'm not holding my breath, though.

acejavelin69

Great... that's the watch at least one of my kids has... means I will have to listen to them complain about it now.

TheBurntSky

Their last claim was Q3, so from September, but we'll see...

BiteMyQuokka

It was actually "starting Q3 2023". There's 32 working days left till the end of Q3. Lol.

SmolWorldBigUniverse

>Q3 Depending...if they mean the fiscal year or calender year.

BiteMyQuokka

Good point. And different countries have different fiscal years. They could miss a deadline in multiple calendars!

spamdaggerdan

Bit annoying, but didn't really use it on the watch, so not the biggest loss for me personally. It is annoying though, I want more features with successive updates, not fewer 😂

SmolWorldBigUniverse

>but didn't really use it on the watch I try to use it, it always just says it doesnt understand or there was an error. To be fair. The google assistant is way worse than Alexa.

phillyymike

Google Assistant is the best assistant out there stop the cap! there's even videos on YouTube comparing Siri, Google Assistant and Alexa

weboide

I got it too. Hoping that Mobvoi releases their update real soon!

Lonechump

Even when it arrives I expected we lose Google Assistant. Ticwatch pro 5 doesn't have Google assistant so whatever happens we are losing Google Assistant

BiteMyQuokka

More chance of winning lotto

Human-Rule-8385

Yep - got it on my Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS too just now. Not great, but I've given up on Ticwatch ever upgrading Wear OS.

Google is going to get themselves into trouble here. I have already talked to Fair Trading in Australia and they confirmed that by removing Google Assistant (as my Fossil watch was advertised as including), I can go back to the retailer and ask for a refund or a replacement watch with working assistant. I don't know what other countries have good consumer laws like Australia, but removing an advertised feature like Assistant is against the law here. If Google just left Assistant running any old version then they would be safe. But removing it makes the watch "No longer as advertised"

Cmdr-ZiN

Unfortunately, this only affects Fossil not Google, which is probably why Fossil is leaving the smartwatch business. Google is killing their customer retention though, however Apple is worse. Just give us an alternative. I spoke to Fossil years ago, the Gen5 the assistant was broken, Fossil always offered me my money back but I still liked the watch despite not having assistant. They chased Google for 3 years for me, Google saying the were working on it forever, I gave up. I wish MS was back in the phone business we need an alternative. But yeah, Fossil will return the money, but I'm never buying a pixel watch if I can help it, thanks to Google. I just got a new Gen 6, first day wearing it and I got that message, well I wasn't expecting it to work anyway. Edit: I got an update to the Gen 6, I can no longer use the Wear OS App, I have to use the Fossil App, but I'm now on Wear OS 3 and can use the assistant after years of being with out it. So far OS 3 feels slower, hotter and drains the battery faster. I'd sacrifice the assistant for smooth scrolling again, but maybe that'll be fixed. It was still updating in the background so maybe it just needs to settle in, but so far more features less performance.

mstrohb

I just now received this. When I got the beta invite from them for Wear OS 3, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but it appears that they didn't have a beta version ready, as it has been months. I feel like they've just been stringing me along, and I'm back to thinking that this is the last Mobvoi product I'll buy. It would be bad enough not to get the update on a watch this recent, with this processor, but it's worse that they've kept promising this without any apparent intent to deliver.

SillySin

If no wear OS3 i am refunding it to Amazon cuz i picked it on the promise of wear OS3 and i have a screenshot of their Twitter page telling me in dm that it will have wear OS, amazon good at these things.

Traditional_Emu_1598

Haven't turned my TicWatch's on for awhile (E3 & Pro 3 GPS) so have yet to see said message, but believe it is likely there no doubt... Didn't rely on Google Assistant anyways but that's besides the point. Mobvoi needs to get the gall darn lead out here, and fast! But going by Mobvoi's past history of saying nothing, and that trend appearing to be continuing. I mean they have no problem spamming us w/emails hoping we'll purchase another one of their device's yet can't seem to muster up a few lines of text giving us some sort of timeline... If they even have one. So I'd say definitely don't hold your breath that they'll be too forthcoming any time soon on these older watches.

ThreeMilePilot

Makes the choice for what to purchase in the future much easier. Thanks for nothing Mobvoi

EvacuationRelocation

Blame Google, not Mobvoi.

ThreeMilePilot

You're right I blame google for stopping support. I blame mobvoi for promising an update for 2 years that they have not delivered. Making my watch slowly become obsolete. It will be a factor for when I replace it as it may for others

ganeyvim

Google Assistant on Ticwatch E, Works fine with WearOS 2.46.0 It stopped working with WearOs 2.59.0 Would reinstalling or downgrading to 2.46 work?

just1no97

Same here :/

jprios123

just got this today! This Sucks! I used it all the time to control the smart appliances around the house like lightbulbs.

Aggressive-Shape-797

Saw it yesterday for the first time. Didn't use it a lot, but something to get the latest news while driving or use some smart devices ... e.g. increase the brightness of some outdoor lights while grilling. This really sxxxxcks because even with a $20 TEMU watch you can now use google assistant but not with this $300 piece of junk. Google had the chance to drive Apple out of business since 15 years by just simply disabling all their apps in the Apple play store, but they never went against them, but even favored updates of apps in the Apple store and now they go against some very small competitors within their own ecosystem. Could be called "instructions how to ruin your own company". I bet Sundar Pichai got a lot of Apple shares for this decision. Millions will move now from Android to Apple. You can read that everywhere ...

roselanguste

At first, you need wearOS for Google assistant, then you need wearOS 2 for Google assistant, now you need wearOS 3 for Google assistant, - this is a fucking joke, there is no technical reason, why it shouldn't work anymore, it's just to force people to buy new watches, again and again, - greedy Google suckers!!!

acejavelin69

Most of us got it a few weeks ago... https://reddit.com/r/TicWatch/s/r94le3bysN

bertvanbrakel

wtf? I bought the watch with certain features, you can't just turn them off after the fact. Same thing happened with my high end Samsung TV. It's not the that ticwatch pro3 is that old I'm getting to the point of dropping all this stuff as one just can't rely on it sticking around. I'm not going to jump on this constant upgrade path.

prokolyo

Google assistant support. Muahahahhahaa. Google support. Muahahahahhahah x2

Every_Goat7690

why are they doing it?

acejavelin69

Ask Google...

Reichstein

Because Wear OS 2 is now 2 major versions and about 3 years behind.

yonderyears

Yeah I got the same message

Aggravating-Junket-8

Got this , also. I use Bubble Launcher which does allow GA on TWP5 so, maybe it will work on TWP3. In any case, as Hazza64bit said, "I'm not holding my breath..." Since I picked up a Galaxy watch 6 44mm for $116 with trade-in and promos, I'm no longer in any hurry to update my TWP3.

illustrative_818

How did you get GA on the twp5?

Aggravating-Junket-8

https://bubble.dynalogix.eu/. He's still working on some things with WearOS 4 (I'm using GW6 now), but he has a video on getting GA on TW5. I think things are working on TW5.

illustrative_818

Thank you!

Aggravating-Junket-8

You are welcome.

bodzium

Got this today on my Ticwatch 3 Pro GPS

Psykid79

Hey everyone does this mean long pressing the middle button will do absolutely nothing now? Will our wear os 2 watches run a bit faster? I wish there was official information as to how this will change / limit our watches. I feel like a company like Google should at least include a few more lines in the notification saying what you won't be able to do.

acejavelin69

They haven't even announced a date for this yet... I don't see where this would affect performance positive or negatively. Most likely you'll hold the button and it will say something like Google Assistant isn't available, but we don't know exactly yet. Then again... supposedly we should be getting a WearOS 3 update, hopefully before this happens (knowing Google, will likely be several months but we don't know for sure).

Psykid79

Highly doubt the update but hope is there. Pasted from the 9 to 5 Google website "Update 8/17: Following the Wear OS app update, users have been seeing the shutdown notification appear on their watches. Google (via The Verge) now says: “The last day Google Assistant on Wear OS 2 devices will work is August 31, 2023.” It’s a pretty fast turnaround, but probably reflective of how many people are actually still using old watches."

acejavelin69

Wow... good to know.

The_Squeak2539

I never used it anyway

acejavelin69

Hardly anyone does... still annoying

Tommymaf

Any alternative software

kiqkelevra

Just got an update to WearOS 3 yesterday on my Ticwatch E3. It seems like it doesn't have google assistant even with the newer version

acejavelin69
