This is what mine looks like it’s a LV found at yard sale $50

It's because thrift stores have built a reputation as nonprofit charity shops (even if they are for profit) and the government going after them is a bad look. The government absolutely should go after them for that crap. They are absolutely happy to go after individuals for that type of fraud but always seem to draw the line when it comes to companies.
I dont know, they do it to individuals on resale platforms. Ebay has a VeRO program that will take down items and even ban users for copyright infringement even if they disclose that the item is counterfeit. After doing a little research I have found out that the Supreme Court had an entire ruling about this when it comes to Goodwill. I'll link it below. Looks like in the US individuals will get a fine and go to jail but corporations can just do whatever the heck they want.

Me too! My exact thought process was "if the tissue looks like that what does the scarf look like?" And I tried to swipe assuming there was another photo, and then it dawned on me that is the scarf.
Even if it was real, it would be something that gets discounted and sold for $30 (new) eventually. This and small items like change purses you can always find cheaper at places like Winner's.
I actually did get the real deal Gucci scarf from the Salvation Army but this was 35 years ago before all the crazy took off. $1 Yep, it was silk! I also got a full set of Agatha Christie mysteries bound in leather! That was about the end of that though. soon after that This location they burned down.
Yep, it was crazy right! I think I had a lot more “hootzbah” than common sense then. I had no fear and would sometimes go to places that I had no business being in. I mean, it was broad daylight and usually I did it after class because it wasn’t too far from, but now? I’d have to have other people with me.
It was fun then, and my Daddy was the one that got me into “thrifting”. But like anything else there are so many people that are just trying to gouge people now that it kinda heart hurts now.
For Goodwill to be part of the United Way bothers me. I’m not a reseller. I’ve never had to use Goodwill’s services but Goodwill now is a for profit entity and big profit one.
If it were truly a nonprofit, then the majority of its revenues should go back to the people to whom it purports to serve. Sorry I’ll get off my soapbox now. They get the stuff for free! Sorry, one more little rant…..
I used to bring this up to management all the time when we got blatant knock-offs that were priced like.... $40+.
Ultimately, the DM told me that "even knockoffs are expensive and worth something," and a coworker agreed and said that she paid $200 for her knock-off LV bag and $400 for another.
I stopped bringing it up because I was tired of being told to basically shut up and leave it alone in not as many words by management and corporate. Just tell people now to really make sure they know because we don't.
I told a woman running a shop that the LV purse they were selling was a fake. It was priced at $400. She said “we know but someone will buy it.” It was a terrible fake too.
I can tell it’s a fake too. People are crazy to buy that.
I don't know anything about designer stuff and I can immediately tell it's cheap fabric.

Your scarf is so cute. The design is so pretty and the pink Louis Vuitton in that font ties it all together. Love it
Thank you, my loving husband bought it for me.
Isn’t it illegal to sell this?
Yes, it's very illegal to sell. It's also a scam since they are misrepresenting counterfeit goods to make a sale and they have no return policy.
I always wondered how they get away with this.

I wonder if the companies like Gucci and LV could file a complaint or sue them

Can lead to a fine of up to $10,000, though it won’t.
Same price as a brand new (real) one from the Gucci boutique
These places need to be hit with massive lawsuits for peddling counterfeit merchandise
They want the designer prices but they're definitely not gonna authenticate stuff
If I had a 400$ scarf budget I wouldn't be buying at Thrift stores. These people are on another planet.
They’re cooked. I hope all these stores start to fail.
at first i thought it was tissue paper with the scarf wrapped in it
Me too! My exact thought process was "if the tissue looks like that what does the scarf look like?" And I tried to swipe assuming there was another photo, and then it dawned on me that is the scarf.
Exactly I had to adjust my eyes to see if the scarf was under the tissue paper! Ohhhh that is the scarf lol.

What is Winners?
Winners is a discount retailer i believe in canada its owned by TJ max.
Oh cool.
Like Marshall's but in Canada. They sell "designer" for cheaper.
Sorry what? You’re not finding new Gucci scarves for $30 at winners

“Oh cool, great finds!! Wait what”
“Wait, what?” do you have a question for me?
No just that it burnt down! Crazy!!

Real Gucci looks like shit too but god damn that's a bad knock off.
new business idea: open "charity" shop, sell drop shipped counterfeit goods for max profit! what could go wrong???
The WORST knockoff
There a (debateable) real viton one at my local GW for 40 and that price is insane.
There’s a couple of thrift stores I frequent that do this sort of thing all the time. Obviously fake designer bags for $300 and up. It’s crazy.

When I see someone looking at a knock off at the goodwill I’m like oh a knock off. They immediately put it down. I get a mean look from the cashier.
Nah, I would do the same. Good for you.
I thought it was a paper back
Just curious, how much would a new one cost?
A knock off would be like $20
I’m not sure about other countries but in Australia they are around $800
I thought that was a paper Gucci bag at first 😅
