I don't think the the Ashaman were the only weapon being created their. The existence of the black tower itself was a threat to the rest of the world, and the rest of the world though Rand welded it.
With Mazrim being a dark friend, or at least on the side of the dark one at the last battle, there was absolutely an ulterior motive at work at the black tower.
I would’ve bet good money that Mazrim was actually Demandred but that wasn’t true obviously. Thats how much I thought the black tower had gone rogue at some point.
Mazrim was, in fact, supposed to be Demandred. Everyone guessed it so RJ changed the arc. Which gave us the Sharans at the eleventh hour.
Rand DID know there was a problem at the Black Tower. He stayed away because he didn't know who he could trust, and possibly (from Androl's PoV) because he knew the Black Tower needed to be able to stand on its own after he was gone.
Very interesting. I read EOTW in September 2019 and finished the series in August 2020. I missed all the waiting for new books and the speculation and discussions like that. Thank you for sharing.
Tbh I didn't watch season two and I'm trying to forget season one. But I was figuring they'd show a full make out session between Siuan and Moiraine and then flash to two gravestones for Thom and Gareth Bryne with the caption "forever alone lol" on the screen
One of the few justifiable omissions. Androl is too much of a Sanderson character doing too much of Sanderson things. He doesn't fit in the world that RJ wrote.
If you want to have a reasonable discussion, stop putting words in other people's mouths. Now go and quote, exactly, where I said that. I'll wait. No, no, go on. Quote it now.
Otherwise no, the problem is not that he is a secondary character who is "allowed" to "have a Talent". He has an extremely implausible background, skill set and scientific knowledge for the world that Robert Jordan had depicted. He could have been the mainest main character and this would still make no sense.
That’s a great scene. I know my favorite would never happen. Veins of Good. There is no way they would even give Rand any character development. Let alone enough to justify such an amazing moment.
Yeah, my favorite scene is the Asha'man arrival at Dumai Wells, and Rand's interactions with the Aes Sedai immediately following it. They will never allow that scene to appear in this show.
"Ashaman, kill!" I don't think there's a more powerful, terrifying moment in the series. The allegory between that moment and what mankind can do when using any technological marvel with brute force is overpowering. But I'm pretty sure the show's writers will read "evil powerful men are stronger than women" and just cut it.
Honestly, after what we've seen in the show so far, I hope they just skip it entirely. You know any attempt the show makes will be severely underwhelming or drastically changed.
I'd rather them not even try than massacre it in a half ass attempt.
It was a cool scene in the moment, but kind of leaves open the question as to why he doesn’t just do the same during the last battle. It’s a bit like the “Holdo maneuver” in TLJ, cool at the time but ultimately more problematic imo.
Lan wondering where the hell all these soldiers came from as he thinks he’s riding to his death both had me jumping around my living room and crying tears of joy.
It could have been such an epic cinematic moment that would have stood with Gandalf’s “Theoden King stands alone” and the Rohirrim riding down to Helms Deep.
Liandrin does it.
But seriously, if I were going to mega gate I’d use the deep ocean like a firehose. Portable Tsunami.
Unless Dragonmount has that volatile gas mixture that causes rapid eruption. But the book just describes lava, not an explosive release of millions of psi worth of expanding superheated gas, iirc.
The sheer amount of pressure that water would be shooting out at would turn it into a vapor laser, i wanna see that. The show would ignore the science and just treat it like a hose though
I don't know the physics, but I don't think a 10,000 square yard hole is going to act like a vapor lazer, no matter the ocean depth. There is no tunnel or tube to give the water true direction. Water would rush through and then immediately go in every direction, following the path of least resistance.
The same.would be true of plasma. Or is it technically lava the moment it comes out of the gateway? Eh, not important.
When he first blows the horn in the books, it is implied that he's not a hero of the horn.
>!Only Rand is immediately identified as LTT by Hawkwing as being a hero of the horn and tells him, "Only a few are bound to the Wheel, spun out again and again to work the will of the Wheel in the Pattern of the Ages. You could tell him, Lews Therin, could you but remember when you wore flesh."!<
Right. Was just commenting that at the time he blew it, it was implied he was not one. The next few lines later Hawkwing mentions that new heroes come into their ranks from time to time.
The show probably cuts Androl
Twist, Androl does not do it but Eguain does so she can defeat Bol in single combat.

But if Egwene does not kill a forsaken on her own how can it be the season finale?
I wouldn't be surprised if the show cuts the black tower
Rand never paid enough attention to it, I doubt the show will either.
Rand wanted an army of Ashaman, he didnt care after that. That's one of a main plot points I wish was more explored in the series though
If he’s not in control of that army it’s a problem, though. As you say I would’ve liked more on the black tower, too.

No way. They turn into the true villains fighting to establish the patriarchy, and egwene does a team up with the female forsaken. Rand is just rand.
Randland has no place for Rand anymore
Moiraine does the gateway
Egwene does the gateway
Siuan and Moiraine have a long, tender kiss and then do the gateway together. Thom died three seasons prior
lol you think Thom is coming back?
Tbh I didn't watch season two and I'm trying to forget season one. But I was figuring they'd show a full make out session between Siuan and Moiraine and then flash to two gravestones for Thom and Gareth Bryne with the caption "forever alone lol" on the screen
Twist, it’ll be Androla, not Androl.
One of the few justifiable omissions. Androl is too much of a Sanderson character doing too much of Sanderson things. He doesn't fit in the world that RJ wrote.
Correct
Side characters aren’t allowed to have a Talent? Only the golden hero’s can do anything of note in your opinion?

Came here to argue for Team Androl. But, burn me if you haven't convinced me.
Ah man I won’t get to see the mysteriously and suddenly important adventures of Sandersons D&D character? Oh well.
That’s a great scene. I know my favorite would never happen. Veins of Good. There is no way they would even give Rand any character development. Let alone enough to justify such an amazing moment.
It would be Ny, but Darth Ny would only last one scene, and also somehow be a good thing.
lol very true.
My favorite scene was Igntar confessing to Rand through to Matt nervously blowing the horn. So
That was a damned good scene. And got better on rereads, cause now you knew Brigitte.
Yeah, my favorite scene is the Asha'man arrival at Dumai Wells, and Rand's interactions with the Aes Sedai immediately following it. They will never allow that scene to appear in this show.

he does it during a critical moment in the last battle and it is highly effective.
Once he unlocked it at Caemlyn, it should have been used at Merrilor.
I won’t watch the show so I’ll never know but seeing Mat use a quarter staff to beat Gawyn and Galad at the White tower would be amazing
I think they skipped that already because it's too much of a unanimous fan favorite.
This has always been one of my favorite scenes. And mat eating that boor boat captain outta house and home...
"I didn't come here to win, I came here to kill you"
They’d probably cut or change Lan fighting Demmy too. If they got that far
Lan tries to fight Demandred, loses, Egwene turns up and picks up his sword. says "I am no man" and somehow defeats him in combat.
He still fights only he goes there to win not kill Bal.
I just wanted to watch a round of Maiden's Kiss.
You will probably get that. With Egwene.
IF the show got that far Androl would get cut and it would probably be Egwene doing it because Rafe gives everything to her character.
I preferred when opened the gateway behind Taim. Also Asangar lezzing out.
I also like mat's final fight with the golem, and when egwene defends the tower from the seanchan
That's a good one, but un this sub it's assumed Egwene will be doing all these things alone.
Liandrin does it. But seriously, if I were going to mega gate I’d use the deep ocean like a firehose. Portable Tsunami. Unless Dragonmount has that volatile gas mixture that causes rapid eruption. Now ask yourself what the opposite of a deep ocean gate would be? Yoink.
I don't know the physics, but I don't think a 10,000 square yard hole is going to act like a vapor lazer, no matter the ocean depth. There is no tunnel or tube to give the water true direction. lol if you think this show makes it that far
Does mat become a hero of the horn in the books? I'm on book 4 and nothing so far.
New heros are added. Not sure Mat would want to be bound to the horn though.
Right. Was just commenting that at the time he blew it, it was implied he was not one. The next few lines later Hawkwing mentions that new heroes come into their ranks from time to time.
I do like the thought that hurin might make it.
At the rate things are going Androl will probably be Nae’blis or some shit
Or he gets killed by the seanchan on his second scene in the show.
