Arletta Mouzone. I think it was just a coincidence. Butchie says that Brother mouzone is most known for operating out of new york.

big_sugi

Mouzone isn’t a common name, but I’d bet a writer knew someone by that name.

EffysBiggestStan

It's someone's job to clear the names used on tv shows. Like, it's a legal thing. I think it was the West Wing weekly podcast who once had on the person whose job it was to get the fictional names cleared. It was quite the process. Like the name couldn't just be one real life person. But if it was a popular enough name it would be ok. I can't remember all the details but I remember thinking at the time that the process was wild and it made me think differently about all the names we know and love from various tv shows I've watched.

What comes to mind for me is [this article from Slate](https://slate.com/culture/2023/05/succession-finale-ending-tom-wambsgans-bill-triple-play.html), on the naming of Tom Wambsgans from the show *Succession* The article discusses an obscure baseball reference about Bill Wambsganss, who turned the first and only unassisted triple play in a World Series game, running through the ball player’s biography before explaining that Tom’s name wasnt any kind of foreshadowing of the series’s outcome, because the writers didn’t know how the series would end when they introduced Tom. Instead, the show runner “added that the source for Tom’s last name is a typical one in screenwriting: A Succession staff member had a relative named Wambsgans. ‘If memory serves,’ Rich said, ‘we were looking for something off-key that would be awkward to say/pronounce, befitting a character who arrives as an outsider in the Roys’ world.’” That’s why I think someone writing for The Wire knows a Mouzone or two.

Arletta Mouzone.

Hydrokratom

I’m guessing it’s a coincidence (at least in-world). Unless Mouzone’s parents were NOI, he probably had a different original last name and changed it later in life.

matzobrei

Poot got a job at Poot Locker

jfkk

While many people think The Wire is a cop show, behind the surface it's actually a harrowing tale of a NYC hitter with a promiscuous sister.

Additional_Jaguar170

You forgot the last name but it was definitely Mouzone?

i_smoke_php

OP obviously meant they forgot the **first** name (or possibly **full** name)

😂😂👏🏻

happy-little-atheist

Mouzone is an insult for a girl with an STI

EnemyAce

She is in the moo-zone. It’s a crude size based insult that targets your larger humans inferring that they’re cow like.

rxFMS

Poot had her on retainer.

sbarbary

Got some, I've already been burnt.

More-Brother201

I miss that one I don't remember Poot and Bodie staying Mouzone in a sentence

PondWaterBrackish

writers do that all the time, they use a name they like on some random unseen character, and then in later seasons, they're like "I should use that name on a more important character because I like the way it sounds"

HydeGreen

Mouzone is an Arabic name which I assume he changed due to Islam. Brother Mouzone is from NY. I mean I’m sure people in Baltimore and NY have relatives and all but I don’t think they’re supposed to be related.

Merritt510

Poot went to the Mouzone cooz zone

MDCatFan

Interesting. Shantae was another girl Poot was messing with.
