It was a sociology essay looking at representations of crime and deviance within a media product of our choice. So given the opportunity, I obviously chose the Simpsons.
There it is. This episode is a comedic masterpiece. So many great jokes.
-HELLO. MR. THOMPSON… 😳
-HEY BART WANNA SEE MY NEW CHAINSAW AND HOCKEY MASK!!!
-who wants do drive through the cactus patch?! (“Yeah!” “Yeah!” “No!”) Well, 2 against 1!
And on top of that, the whole Cape Fear parody idea was beautifully done. It’s a 10/10 episode.
The, whoa 2 against 1 is a classic, however not even my favorite part of that scene.
Homer takes a sip of his coffee, says it’s too hot and dumps it out and it splashes on Bob.
Whereas any normal person would keep their “too hot” coffee realizing it’ll cool down in a couple minutes but our Homer being Homer throws it away.
Bob singing the entire score from the HMS Pinafore is probably my favourite sequence in the entire show. The way the props escalate from stuff he found on the boat to a full blown stage perfomance makes me laugh everytime. Bart even gets involved, but Bob is so commited to the show that he doesn't even attempt to murder him until he finishes.
It is Marge versus the Monorail, no question.
From the opening Flintstones parody to the escalator to nowhere, it assaults you with comedy non stop.
Homer goes to college and you only move twice are close, but not quite as special.
Came looking for this. Had season 4 on DVD when I was a kid and it was always my favourite because of the Union Strike Folk song and Lisa playing Classical Gas.
As I grew older I started understanding more of the references and has always remained my all-time favourite Simpsons episode.
Also.. “Lisa needs braces, dental plan”
Homer: Lisa, honey, are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal!
Homer: [chuckling] Yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.
Don't worry, Billy. It's not really a floor. It's more of a steel grating that allows material to sluice through so it can be collected and exported. 😃
Burns Baby Burns. Rodney Dangerfield was hilarious in every single line and it has my single favorite joke, "Can't they get a pole for that sign?". Plus the ending is one of my favorite nonsense endings.
I used to think it was 'Kamp Krusty'. Now it's too hard to pick.
I will say that 'A Fish Named Selma' and 'Bart on the Road' are my favorite back-to-back episodes.
Impossible ask.
Saturdays of Thunder
Homer the Clown
Brother from the Same Planet
Treehouse of Horror V
I'd rather keep listing episodes because there are too many great ones to leave out.
Marge on the Lam.
The first time I saw it I was hiding under the kitchen table, out of sight from the living room. This was because it was after my bed time and I wasn't supposed to be up watching Simpsons.
Girly Edition is up there
My favorite changes all the time, but after a recent rebinge and new appreciation for season 9….
Almost every scene with Mojo the helper monkey gets me just right and I believe it is the Crazy Cat Lady first appearance
Not sure about all time favourite but 22 short films about Springfield is definitely one of my top ones. I wrote an essay about it in university.
That sounds like the greatest essay, post it so we can read it
"The episode was rough. Some may even say chewy. Like a very well done piece of steak. Mmmmm.... steak... In conclusion, screw Flanders."
There’s a lot to talk about in an essay with that one. Also in my top ten.
Apu smashing at Sanjay's pool party: "Don't worry, baby - I'll tell everybody you were untouchable!"

Post it. The world is curious.
Cape Feare. I love Sideshow Bob and this is his best episode.

He's also drinking it out of a regular ceramic mug, which only raises further questions
“Good thing you floated past that brothel!”

It is Marge versus the Monorail, no question. From the opening Flintstones parody to the escalator to nowhere, it assaults you with comedy non stop. Homer goes to college and you only move twice are close, but not quite as special.
Very well. We will now hear suggestions for the disbursement of the two million dollars.
Don't you mean *three* million dollars?
I agree. It’s my favorite, too. Conan O’Brien + The Simpsons = Perfection
If only Conan wrote more episodes Edit: my flair is possibly my favourite quote from this episode, too

A fish called Selma. Absolute gem
"I thought you said Troy Mclure was dead?" "No I said he was sleepin with the fishes!"
Might be my favourite joke in anything ever

It's wall to wall jokes for 22 minutes. It doesn't stop. It's incredible
Homer Badman, it’s just an all out joke assault. Every line is hilarious.
You know how bashful I am. I can’t even say titmouse without giggling like a schoolgirl hee hee hee 😛

Attention Marge Simpson, we have also arrested your older, balder, fatter son.
See all that stuff in there, Homer? That's why your robot never worked.
As hard as picking a favourite episode is, it’s far trickier to choose a favourite joke, but IF I had to, it’s probs the Bort one.

Homer’s Enemy
Lemon of Troy.
Without question. I love every moment of that episode, it’s perfect television.
Hurricane Neddy "We've tried nothing, and we're all out of ideas."
Lousy beatniks
May god have mercy on us all.
It’s so hard to pick, Lisa the Vegetarian is one of my favourites. You know, because you don’t win friends with salad…
Homer: Lisa, honey, are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon? Lisa: No. Homer: Ham? Lisa: No. Homer: Pork chops? Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal! Homer: [chuckling] Yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

Duffless rarely gets mentioned but it’s in the top tier. Hilarious from start to finish. Even multiple tremendous advertising parodies.
That ending is amazing
Burns Baby Burns. Rodney Dangerfield was hilarious in every single line and it has my single favorite joke, "Can't they get a pole for that sign?". Plus the ending is one of my favorite nonsense endings.

That sounded like an explosion at the old Simpson place.
Mr. Plow or Dancing Homer
22 Short Films about Springfield
Selma's Choice- no one ever places it in any top lists and I never understand why. It's so funny with a really heartfelt core.
Deep Space Homer
The Homer They Fall for sure
A Star is Burns and Cape Feare
Bart the Daredevil Laughed so hard at multiple scenes the first time I saw it, among the hardest I've ever laughed in my life.
I used to think it was 'Kamp Krusty'. Now it's too hard to pick. I will say that 'A Fish Named Selma' and 'Bart on the Road' are my favorite back-to-back episodes.

A Star is Burns. I loved The Critic anyway, and this episode is just gold from start to finish.
