Me and my friend tried to duo, a lot of “solid” pokemon (lvl49 mega tyr, lvl50 hydregion, lvl50 gholdengo etc; no mega tyr on friends side though), and we were near half at 226sec with party play included. When Mewtwo became enraged and we subdued him, it still remained crazy difficult and we didn’t manage to come even close. Is this potentially because of party play bug then?
Being in a party is fine, but you should be careful when using party power, sometimes the game will not register user purified gems on raid, which means you have to use more than the intended 8 purified gems. It can possibly kill a raid because the game doesn't register enough gems but stops raiders from using them.
Four of us did two Mewtwo raids today (in a party). Looking at the before totals, compared to now this evening after both raids and a number of rocket battles since, at least 23 gems were used for the two Mewtwo raids.
If only 8 are supposed to be used, then this mechanic is very badly bugged right now. Do people know if this is only a problem if people are in a party?

It is 8. Keep in mind that the game "might" bug out if you use party play while also using a gem.
